You HAVE to listen to "Words Darker Than Their Wings" by Alter Bridge from the Royal Albert Hall. It will blow you away with Myles voice... Trust me! Oh, plus the other guitarist harmonizes with Myles as well.
WORD Darker Than The Wings is an EPIC live performance! And for those who were able to witness AB play it live...you are some lucky souls! 🤘🏼😝🤘🏼 I've seen Myles K. Preform 5 times, and Once as Alter Bridge..and not once did he give anything less then 100% in a performance. An Absolute GOD-Like musician ❤
I was the same! Im in my late 50’s and am a fan of 60’s through 80’s (and into the 90’s even) rock and metal. I thought great hard melodic rock died by the 2000’s because new stuff isn’t pushed by mass media or radio anymore…. Anyways, I happened upon these guys only because I heard Myles Kennedy singing with Slash, and wondered who this great vocalist was. Went down the Myles Kennedy rabbit hole and now AlterBridge is by far my favorite hard rock band! (And they are unknown by many rock fans who rarely stray from their bubbles). I had to find them by chance, which is weird, because as someone mentioned - they have no bad songs or albums! Edit:(PS - yes Im aware of The Warning, and any number of other 2000’s thru 2010’s and on new rock and metal bands! I like many of them and I hope they bring guitar based music back to the fore! But AlterBridge is my favorite by far)
One of my favorite Alter Bridge songs. Myles wrote this song in honor of his friend who sold him his first guitar who passed away from cancer. Holds a special place in my heart and that 10/10 guitar solos was voted as the best rock guitar solo of all time back in 2011 by Guitarist magazine. Fun fact if you know who Creed is, the lead guitarist, bassist and drummer are same guys from the band Creed.
@@Abigirl_Reacts I love that Creed is back and they sound as good as ever if not better at times. If you like watching live shows, their show from Darien Lake NY from this past summer was a great recording from the crowd, usually im not big on fan recordings but this one was really good.
IMO Myles is the best rock singer in the world today. Please check out Words Darker Than Their Wings from the same Royal Albert Hall gig. He hits a very high note!!!
Yeah if you really want to see those vocals unleashed, you HAVE to check out 'Words darker than their wings' from the same show at Royal Albert Hall. It was the first time they'd ever done it live because the vocal is so hard core. 🙌
I was in that crowd... Blackbird is an amazing piece of work.. If you enjoyed this, you must listen to Words Darker Than Their Wings from the same gig.
Awesome reaction Abi! My favorite part was at 3:14 when he started belting out the lyrics and your eyes almost popped out of your head lol. I've never heard of this band before, but I will be looking into more of their music. The sound and vocal tones gave me serious '80s Queensryche vibes. If you liked this then I suggest "Eyes of a stranger" by Queensryche. The entire "Operation: Mindcrime" album that EOAS is on is one long story woven into the songs. They even recorded two concerts in Madison and La Crosse, Wisconsin back in '91 where they played the entire album, in list order, with video and animation graphics playing behind the band on a screen telling the story behind the music.
This is a beautiful track, do yourselves a favour and search the meaning behind the song. Alter Bridge is perhaps one of the most successful reboots of a band ever. After the band Creed lost direction/argued/ran-out-of-steam, whatever ... they added a new singer and rebranded (oversimplified, I know) and they have been able to extend themselves for another 20 years. Blackbird is one of their older songs, but it remains one of their most performed and most requested songs. Great stuff Abigirl, keep the good stuff coming.
AB is one of the most underrated bands of all time. They really don’t have a bad song. Myles Kennedy has an amazing voice. Mark Tremonti is a beast on guitar. He is helluva vocalist himself. I think you will really like ‘open your eyes’ ‘broken wings’ ‘rise today’ ‘words are darker than their wings’ to name a few… and something different, Mark Tremonti sings some Frank Sinatra songs (with the surviving member from Sinatra’s band) ‘I’ve got you under my skin’ and ‘fly me to the moon’ are absolutely beautiful! Thanks for another great reaction, live watching your channel grow
Miles Kennedy is a legend. scrolling through your channel, couldn't help but notice you've yet to hit some reaction staples: Nightwish - _Ghost Love Score_ (be careful, i've heard they get protective, may possibly need an overlay) Jinjer - _Pisces_ (they actively encourage reactions) The Warning - _Evolve_ (they also encourage reactions) those songs are just introduction points. the catalogs run deep. and there's plenty more bands, but that ought get you started (i'm assuming you've already been swamped for some of the Japanese bands outside of just Babymetal).
Yes, I bet Abigirl has been hit with suggestions for other Japanese bands, and rightly so. Japan is the world's hub of youngerish (if that's a real word) metal and hard rock bands at the moment. Don't get me wrong, there are many great heavy bands all over the world, but Japan is punching above its weight at the moment. I agree with your recommendations for Nightwish (and the connective tissue of Jinger) and the Mexican trio "The Warning", it's hard to believe these three girls can command so much presence on stage.
@@Abigirl_Reacts Can confirm that many of the Japanese metal bands are *amazing*, but are generally not so reactor friendly. The same goes for Nightwish, unfortunately, although this has not stopped Ghost Love Score from being the top reacted to song ever, so that's saying something. The Warning are phenominal to react to, all they way back to when they were super young. Their newer music is a bit more industrial and "produced", but still very, very good.
Alter Bridge, the band with literally no bad songs. The band that sounds crazy on stage, even better than studio. Pick any of their songs and the lyrics and you won't be disappointed.
Stellar performance! Myles Kennedy is a powerhouse. Came for The Warning, had to check out Alter Bridge who I just recently discovered as well. The young band Plush (who's toured with The Warning, Disturbed, AIC, etc) do a great cover of AB's Isolation, as well as even better covers imo of Barracuda by Heart and Down in a Hole by AIC. (Don't ya love these "subtle" hints about more sick bands to check out haha!)🤘😁 Chris Cornell, what an amazing vocalist! 🔥
Myles is awesome... you can also catch him with Slash the the Conspirators with whom he does vocals. Ghost or Starlight Live are pretty awesome place to start.. His own solo stuff and check out the Movie Rockstar .. he is the guy that Mark Wahlberg brings up on stage for the power duet
Myles Kennedy is an amazing singer! Mark Tremonti (Lead Guitarist & Backup Vocalist) is also a great singer too. Please check the song "Words Darker Than Their Wings" from Alter Bridge, from the same show (Live At The Royal Albert Hall). Myles gets to an even higher note..
@Abigirl_Reacts I just checked it out and I think he played the Beatles blackbird in the beginning as a tribute to them because his song has the same namesake.
@@Chast74he always plays that Beatles's blackbird part before their own Blackbird because it was the first song he learned from his friend (the one he wrote that lyrics to)... I think I read that.
Great reaction. Love Alterbridge. If you love strings and guitars check out The Warning’s version of Enter Sandman live from Pepsi center. It will blow your mind. And ears. Lol
This. The Amsterdam version is by far the best live recording of this song I've seen so far. Unfortunately most people go with this one or the Wembley one. Now don't get me wrong - both of these were still stellar performances, but Amsterdam is something else.
If you were thinking of Chris Cornell then I agree. Definitely some similarities. AB is basically Creed with Myles Kennedy taking the place of Scott Stapp. The catalog for AB is pretty deep but if you wish to explore further I recommend Words Darker Than Their Wings from the same show and Watch Over You (Live at Billboard). I promise, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for sharing your first time with AB. I have been a fan for so long I've forgotten how hearing them the first time made me feel. :)
Myles Kennedy's first manager was Susan Silver, Chris Cornell's first wife. The two singers are both from Washington State and knew each other. They dueted in "My Funny Valentine" for Silver's 40th birthday. I wish there was audio if that online! alter Bridge rocks so much more than Creed. No offense to Creed but Myles and Mark are phenomenal together.
