    The modesty of this man is astounding. Especially considering that he's one of the best vocalists of our time. Even though he's older, he still has the power and range. Listen to his rendition of Words Darker Than Their Wings live at the Royal Albert Hall. It's really awesome!

    • @alext2566
      @alext2566 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like Myles' low to mid range singing. I really am not a fan of his higher stuff though, it sounds too boyish and thin and detracts from the emotionality of the music big time IMO. Just a personal preference of course.
      Of course he's an amazing guitarist and songwriter, there's no debating that.

    • @GizzyDillespee
      @GizzyDillespee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alext2566 I'm not the biggest fan of the strident vocals either. I love his softer vocals, especially the lows and mids. I probably don't have representative or typical taste in music, though. EDIT: Listening closer, I think maybe it's partly because of the pitch instability that I prefer the softer singing, compared to the louder parts. I told you I was a weirdo. It's more organic and vulnerable vs sheer hard edge, so I guess I prefer the songs that call for the more vulnerable side. Cobain was really good at the confluence of vulnerability and power. Anyway. Great musician.

      Well as a music lover tinnitus sounds like a blessing when I know being deaf is a thing I absolutely dread. Not to belittle having tinnitus, more to give a silver lining type thinking. You can still hear the music and therefore enjoy it in a familiar way right? If you're deaf, say goodbye to that. Also no shade on deaf people. You can still enjoy music but just not the same way. Point is, joy is always present, you merely have to be open to it!

    I'm amazed to hear Myles talk about the challenge of remembering lyrics, chord progressions, and then reproducing them all at once for a performance. I've always thought it was something only bedroom amateurs like myself or absolute beginners struggle with. Myles performs with such raw talent that it appears to be just pouring out effortlessly. I have two Alterbridge live dvds, and seeing talents like Myles and Mark (Tremonti) perform together on stage so effortlessly it's too easy to forget there is hard work going on there. The thing I appreciate most about what Myles brings to that band really is the extra guitar. He is way too humble about his guitar playing ability in this interview!

    When Slash did his self titled solo album, the sound engineer bought a studio tape machine from the 1960s and wanted to try it out. The only two singers on the list that had the talent for tape (because tape is really expensive the ideal is three takes or less) was Myles Kennedy and Beth Hart.

    • @TheRealCowlick
      @TheRealCowlick 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah cause Ozzy and Ian haven't been recording to tape for like 4 decades before that... There is no such thing as a "talent" for tape. There's a certain type of sound tape gives to a recording that can work for a certain song/vocal in the context of the production. Many times it's not really necessary as the compression and saturation it achieves can be achieved in other ways through other gear.

    • @orlock20
      @orlock20 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7
