- The restoration of two Corgi Lotus Elite Team cars in Lotus JPS colours.
This was an experiment in how best to do the gold stripes in readiness to restore the large 1/18th scale JPS Lotus F1 car. So I used sticky gold paper for one and hand painted stripes for the other.
If I had a third car worth restoring I would have used gold spray. I don’t think this is an option on the F1 car though without some very difficult masking.
Great experiment Andy. It is good to learn new techniques and approaches. Thanks for sharing the products you use too. 👍👍
It was a pleasure. Thank you for watching and commenting 👍
Nice job Andy, excellent detail, thanks for showing the products you use.👍
No problem I do get questions on what I use. So it will be a regular part at the end of the videos now. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Great job Andy
Thank you 👍
Nice pair of cars Andy ,I like the definition of Lotus 😅😅,nice decals
I went over the letters with a gold pen but didn’t video that. And yellow paint on the badge. I think it maybe should have been green though for the mid 70s. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Nice informative video Andy and a good experiment well worth doing .
Thank you Martin. Yes worth a go. I was testing the water for the gold decals on the 1/18th JPS F1 car. 👍
Well done there Andy, I like the black & gold look. Corgi has nice detail on these. Hand painted one turned out quite nice. The sticky-back has potential, as you've shown. I like the look of the Lotus Elite very much. I remember seeing my 1st one, in 1974, whilst on holiday in Cornwall, parked up outside a pub. It looked amazing. A brown N reg. I thought, terrible colour though. I still have the picture I took of it.
I have seen two for sale but the reputation and age put me off now. They are great looking cars though. Thank you for watching and commenting, much appreciated 👍
Cool 👍
Thank you👍
Andy, excellent restorations!! Although, personally, I’d replace the yellow windows with just plain clear ones. In my opinion, the yellow windows don’t look like they shouldn’t be on them.
Good observation Michael. I could have tried to save that one from the scrapper car. At the end of the day parts are not cheap and easy to get sometimes. I decided to keep these original as a comparison except for the doors. It just didn’t look right a partial decal on the doors
Thank you for watching and commenting 👍
@@andysgaragediecastrestorations I understand, Andy. I can see your point of view here
Cracking job there andy always worth trying different methods and ya never know till you try well done mate 👍
Cheers Luke. Yes worth a go 👍 That sticky gold paper peels off, so there is always the option of a repaint

Great team the JPS Lotus
Braver man than I, Andy - good job with the paint, but better with the sticker, I'd say. Did you think about trying a gold decal? They're a bit big for me, scalewise, these Corgis, but as I get older, I might have to think about moving 'up' a scale just so I can see what I'm doing! Nice job you've done on these!
I didn’t think of buying any decals. I wanted to try myself because I have the Corgi F1 JPS 1/18th scale to do. That’s why I bought the sticky gold paper which is inkjet printable. I kept changing my mind which was best throughout the process. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
