Great owner's review. I must add, this car is safe as hell! I would know- it saved my life last year after a lunatic rammed into our rear end on the highway going 120mph. The car rolled 3 times and totaled ending up on the roof. But we made it out alive safe. Toyota RAV4, thank you very much.
I just bought my car and I got rear ended by a stupid old man that was driving crazy. I found out it was 82 year old. I still don't know if he was drunk or what not. A lawsuit is coming to him. The damage cost me about $8000, lost 2 months in the shop. Lost value to a brand new car. When he hit me I lost brakes and I could had gotten killed. When the dam old man hit me it was on a red light. Thank God there was not cars from either way. I can't brake and I could gotten killed.
Never do comment on youtube videos much but I have to say this review is amazing. It's just under 8min and you talked about interior, exertior, driving, and problems. Great review!
We bought a 2019 RAV4 for my daughter. It’s now late 2024 and she still loves it as do I. In typical Toyota fashion, absolutely no repairs other than regular maintenance. Runs today like the day it was brand new.
We just bought a 2023 RAV 4 SE Hybrid, your post after two years of ownership definitely helped me decide to buy this vehicle. After two weeks of driving I am so glad we bought this great SUV.
For those that dont know. Rav4 Hybrid has "computer" based mpg. Which means your fuel economy changes based on your driving habits. (I have one) you can expect with aggressive driving to get about 390 to 460 miles per full tank. With conservative driving you get 440 to 490 miles per full tank. Hope this helps.
That is impossible. 390 - 460 mph is what a "normal" fuel car averages. Unless you are 100% on highways, on street use, this car delivers 550+ mph per full tank.
Thank you so much for this great review! The other reviewers are good but to have a review of someone who lives with this vehicle day to day is just great! Thanks for sharing the size of the gas tank too. I am giving the Rav4 Hybrid strong consideration and wanted to calculate total miles per full tank so this was super helpful. Keep us updated.
@@Nicole.Sisson I have a bunch of questions so can you answer fast as possible What's the difference between hybrid xse and the xse Is it sporty or luxury Is parts & labor cheap or expensive Do you get all maintenance work done by Toyota or some by a regular mechanic Do you get car washes from professionals or do ya own car wash Can you not ig me ignore me thanks a lot
@@ricarroyo5470 The XSE trim only comes with the hybrid option. I would say it's between sporty & luxury. I have Toyota do all the maintenance. When I purchased the vehicle all services and oil changes were covered for the first 24k. I only wash the car myself or use a touchless car wash on occasion.
I'm English. What are tabs please? Great video, thank you. I recently traded in my 9 year old LR4, for a Toyota Highlander Hybrid, which I'm very pleased with. The Toyota, as a Hybrid is very different to what I'm used to. The mpg is frequently around twice, or more, what I was getting with my Land Rover, plus petrol (gas) is significantly cheaper than diesel here in England. I'm a retired engineer and am astonished at the high standard of engineering design and development with respect to Toyota Hybrids.

I recently bought a Suzuki Vitara. But I'm already looking for an electric car. So the Toyota rav4 could be an option. I also consider a Mitsubishi Eclipse cross PHEV, because I can charge him with solarpanels in the future. Since gas is so expensive in the Netherlands I might change cars. But nevertheless I feel happy with my Suzuki, for now. Hope you can give me more advice. Greetings from Leon!
On your mpg average screen you should change it from "total average" to tank average.. this will give you a more accurate representation of the true fuel mileage of that tank of fuel . The total average is calculated since the start of the life of the vehicle and is not very accurate towards real time average mpg . Just something to consider ✌️
I do reset the total average every once in a while so I don't think mine is reading from day one. I didn't realize you could change it to tank average. I'll have to check that out , thanks! 😊
I got a 2022 XSE at end of April- I agree. I totally love everything you said about your car, same with mine. I did add some modifications= tinted windows, FitCamX to video record my travels, Auroclover over the windows, black out emblems, weathertech mudflaps and running boards. I don't need to step up in mine, but, I think running boards add a sharper look AND they stick out just enough to help prevent careless others from giving you door dings.
My wife and I loved her 2021 so much we bought a second 2022, Blizzard Pearl, loaded with the blackout out emblems like the fist one Silver Sky Metallic. Phenomenal vehicles! Btw, both of our RAV4 Hybrid XSE’s “fill all way to fuel full”. ….2023 have some upgrades, which you’ll pay for. If someone really wants more, interchangeable parts most likely the deal. Remember Toyota adds value in technology, safety, design first. The bonuses are always going to show up. Have fun, simple overview and much appreciated!
I just got a 2023 XLE AWD in Blueprint color. It's such a pretty car. Got the door guards and edge guards and it just pops. She got a workout from a blizzard already and passed easily. I'm sitting in front of my wood stove, wearing the same hat as the lovely lady in the video. Merry Christmas everyone!
I have this exact car (same color) and love it. Very versatile, comfortable, intuitive, and safe! My only minor critique is road noise can be loud at times. I also had to have the gas tank replaced at no charge as part of the recall.
Very good, real world review/update. You touched on some things that I never hear mentioned in other reviews of the RAV4. Cheers to many happy miles ahead and thanks!
I have a 2021 with 30k now. It's a great car maybe the best in its class in my opinion. Great on gas, smooth and reliable. Good in the snow also. Hybrid made me nervous in Minnesota cold winters but the car starts better than any other car I have ever had. Great review. Great car hope to get over 200k on it.
Thank you for this great review. Just this week I bought a 2025 Rav 4 Hybrid. I did a lot of research before buying it. I’m in love, and after your great review of 2 years ownership, I’m more in love with it!
Thanks Nicole for such a thorough review. I have a family member who owns a RAV4 Prime Hybrid (2022) and it's certainly a great car. However, given the way fuel prices are rising I've held off buying one & I'm waiting for the Toyota Bz4x (which essentially is being marketed as a a RAV EV) with a solar roof option. Once again thanks for a thorough & honest review 👍👍🙏
Great car! Will last 20 years+. German cars may feel like they are higher quality but mechanical issues often occur within just a few years (after the warranty has expired!)
Thanks Nicole for an honest and thoughtful review. I appreciate that there were a couple issues, but glad that Toyota fixed them! I was wondering how it handles in snow? Does the all wheel drive kick in and help keep the vehicle straight - or do you get any snow there? Seems like a lot of rain - the all wheel drive should be effective for that too... Very nice choice in color - looks very sharp!
We got quite a bit of snow this year. I think it handled really well. I don't have any other AWD vehicles to compare it to but I felt safe on the road!
@@Nicole.Sisson Thanks for the reply! If you "felt safe on the road" that's good enough for me! This vehicle was already high on my list for next purchase... your endorsement just solidifies that :)
I live in NY, Rav4 is amazing in the snow. I have AWD. It kicks in when it feels the road is uneasy. The traction button OMG got me out of snow situations .
I have this vehicle and live in Chicago. It handles very well in the snow, I usually put it on Trail mode when driving in snow and have never had an issue! Not as much of a tank as my 4Runner but very sufficient for snow nonetheless.
I went with my son to buy a 2022 Rav4 and not only that he loves it I was totally impressed by the design and craftsmanship of the vehicle. Nicole I love your review of the Rav4
Like your thorough review and opinions. We just purchased a 2023 Rav4 hybrid. My daughter will be using it. Good to hear you love yours. Hoping she has as much luck as you.
Great video. I've had my RAV4 XLE Hybrid premium with the weather package and towing package just over 6 months now and have 41,000 miles on it!! It's been a blast inside that car. Tons of good features mixed with easy drivability. And it's sporty!! It tows a travel trailer really good with no problems. Off-road is awesome. One thing that kind of bugs me is there a crack, creek, or ticking sound up near the visor every now and then when driving over cracks. Also the traction control alarm goes off quite a bit over the smallest manhole covers and speed bumps. Others than that going off a few times a week, it's been a pleasure. I did have the dealer look at the traction control and they told me nothing was wrong with it.
The creeking near the visor is probably the mirror cover on the visor. I fixed mine by putting the garage door opener over it. The clamping pressure from the opener, pushes on the mirror cover and stops any noise.
Fantastic review from a real user. I have the same car, bought new, and now with similar miles. This review would have been exactly what I would say for my car.
After 2 years, I still love my Hybrid XSE as well. We have the same model and color as yours, and I have no complaints. The only thing now is, that I want a Prime. It having electric on one side and gas on the other is really cool, and with gas prices being crazy, even though have a Hybrid, we don't really worry about gas...but, I'd really like to hop on that bandwagon and have an EV. Great Video and keep loving that beautiful Rav4. I know I love mine too 🤍🖤
Glad to hear you are still enjoying your RAV4! The prime was not available when I purchased the vehicle but it I agree, it does sound very appealing!! Thanks for watching 😁
Thanks for the review, I bought my 2 month ago and I love it is the description of perfection for me and really like everything from my car, I haven’t had problems with it
Nice review Nicole. I bought a 2020 RAV4 LE Hybrid in 10/2019. I love the smooth acceleration especially in Sport mode. I fixed the gas tank issue last year. I get an average of 43 mpg unless I let it idle in the winter to warm up. Two cons: no remote start and I hit my head when entering. They must have shrunk the roofline from my 2017 which was bigger. I'll trade it in for a 2023 hybrid in the fall. I looked at the CRVs but they came with no spare. No thanks.
I definitely was not a fan of the CR-V. You should be able to remotely start your vehicle with the Toyota app or pressing 3x on the lock button. It's too bad most of the newer cars these days don't have a spare!
@@Nicole.Sisson I contacted Toyota HQ and they said my car doesn't have the software to utilize your work around for a remote start. I could purchase a remote start unit non-Toyota for $600 but I declined. Too much money for too little use. It would have been nice but no dice. Your right about the spares. Mark
I have the same model (XSE) 21 and really like it. Interestingly enough, my dislikes are the same with the exception of the gas tank problem which is fixed in late 21. Completely agree on the auto hold, I'm spoiled by it. The Radar cruise works great and the auto headlight isn't overly sensitive and use it all the time. I'm glad you like yours and makes me feel better you still do over a longer time. Thanks for the review.
Thanks Nicole for a terrific Owner's review - a real life story. The Rav 4 Hybrid is on our short list to possibly replace our 2016 CRV. I took the 2021 CRV Hybrid for a test drive last fall. But after watching Rav 4 reviews, it seems that the InfoT. sys. in the Rav 4 looks better. Comparbale HP and Torque numbers.....BUT the Rav 4 blows the Honda ouit of the water on MPGs!!. From what I see, the RAV 4 is the Number 1 seller in this category- overtaking the CRV for the past 2 years. I presume the Hybrid system does not use a Turbo engine (Honda does NOT), but does use a CVT )Honda does as well - it is their version of a CVT). THX again for the Owner's experience.
I test drove the CR-V before I purchased my RAV4. I definitely prefer the infotainment system being up higher. It has been a great vehicle so far! If you decide to go that route I think you will love it! Thanks for watching 🙂
I have a 2014 RAV4 XLE with 245,000 miles on it and I'M STILL IN LOVE! Just had the car at my mechanic for an Inspection and he thoroughly went through the car while doing the Inspection. Said the car will last many, many, MANY more miles to come!
I've got the same model and color and love it! My gripes about my Rav4 XSE is the buttons for the overhead cabin lights aren't backlit so at night you're poking around trying to find the right button to turn on the cabin lights. Same issue with the door locks and window buttons (only the driver button is back lit), and the headlight selector switching from "on", "running lights", "AUTO" and "DRL OFF" is a guessing game since its not back lit also. The driver side mirror seems to have a distorted view (had the same issue with my Mazda but not with any of my other cars).
We love our Rav4 hybrid but as older drivers, our major complaint is that the dashboard is often impossible to see. Also, window controls and door locks are not lit so it is difficult to find them at night.
I was driving a 2005 prior so I didn't even notice the lack of lit locks. However, now that it mention it, I agree that would be a nice feature! Does it help to raise your seat up?
Nice positive, and thorough, overview! 👌💯 I've got a 2016 Rav4 Hybrid right now and love it, but def want to upgrade to the 2019+ like you have. I'd get the white XSE as well.. gorgeous trim! Cheers
I loved your review! I just ordered a 2022 Toyota RAV4 XLE. I sold my Honda Civic last September and I wanted to upgrade to something bigger. I was excited but your review definitely made me even more excited. Thank you!
Ahhh thank you for this review! I'm in the process of researching my next car and RAV4 is at the top of my list. Your car is gorgeous. I love the white and black trimming and rims.
Loved the review! I have a 2021 RAV4 XSE and had to replace my tire the other day due to the flat. The spare tire actually isn't full size! It's half the width of a normal tire and is only meant for 100 miles / 50 mph via the handbook :). It's still better than a mini donut!!!
But, you CAN fit a full size spare in the provided space. Once I got my 22 XLE, I found a used 2017 Rav4 rim at a nearby salvage yard. Found a good used tire, had it mounted, so now I have a full size spare if I ever have a flat.
Great review… I’m loving my 2019 Hybrid, comfortable, smooth drive, great safety features and fantastic fuel economy. Well worth having the panoramic glass roof to lighten the interior. Toyota now do an update to the infotainment system on the 2019/20 cars to give you Apple CarPlay which is well worth having 👍
@@reinmansmith lol well I live in the UK too. I had a 2017 Nissan qashqai and kept the electric cover closed 99 percent of the time. It was only nice at night time for me
@@UnseenSpirit I don't like it open when the sun is shining directly overhead. We only have a couple hot sunny months in WA a year. I love having it open otherwise!!
Great review, balanced and fair. I have a Rav and for UK roads it's pretty big, it makes me smile when you guys describe it as compact. 😄 that said, it does like tiny compared to whatever that massive grey thing is it's parked next to.
I know. I lived in Derby, UK for over 3 years and I was going to buy a Rav4 but ended up buying a Toyota Verso which too was extremely reliable. Never had any issues.
My 2018 Toyota Rav 4 hybrid limited is still going strong! It has a bunch more miles on it, but the engine and everything is working as it should! 💕 This car and I thank God, I am blessed with a amazing vehicle to get me around! I do a ton of driving, and with proper maintenance it will go and go and go. We get 40mpg, and on a really good day can see upwards of 50mpg. With proper driving of course and coasting, also the eco mode really helps on our model, and not putting your foot down all the time at traffic lights. :)
I do a lot of driving as well! Just hit 40k planning to keep my RAV4 a long time and looking forward to many miles to come!! So glad to hear you are enjoying your RAV4!! 😁 Thanks for sharing your experience!
Getting the latest model always have the potential of having to deal with some issues resulting from the new design. You can be sure that the problem with the gas tank and its sensor, and the rattle noise was addressed on the 2021 and later units. If all was totally fixable, there is no reason to not love the car now as before. Something similar happened to the current CR-V model and its Turbo engine issues with the oil leaking into the cylinders, but in the Rav4 case, it was not that serious like an engine major issue, almost becoming into a legal action. Thanks for the video, I know my next vehicle will be a Rav4.
@@Jessica-kg1sr Toyota really care about their customers, so yes. I got my license 8 months ago and is in the process of getting a rav4 in 2024. The car may be redesigned by then so I’m excited
@@Nicole.SissonHey hows everything fast question my dealer is saying for me to come down every 3 to 6mths & is expensive compared to my regular mechanic example say its $85 for oil change, $70 for inspection & $150 for all brakes Toyota is charging in same order $100, $85, $250 so out of curiosity after your warranty would you still go to the toyota dealer for everything & would you go when they recommend it or a regular mechanic but olny when a problem occurs
Great review Nicole - I love hearing from real owners because we know it is coming from someone who understands the car well and is not providing us "hype". I love the exterior color as I am biased to white vehicles :) Do you find the heating steering getting really warm or just weak?
Thank You! 😁 I find the temperature of the heated steering wheel will fluctuate from hot to warm. Always starts off hot and then after being on hot for maybe 20 minutes it will start to cool down a bit and then heat back up. Hope that helps!
@@Nicole.Sisson It does, thank you so much. I had read some reviews where people said Toyota's heated steering were so weak that it was almost useless but you confirmed otherwise. Thank you much :)
I purchased my RAV4 in 2021, 2.5 ltr Hybrid AWD, I absolutely love it, averaging 47mpg in the summer and 45.7 in the winter, I would certainly change it for another one
How do you get around 12mpg better than what real world drivers are getting. You also get like 8mpg than what Toyota can achieve as their best mpg they can get...? Think you're exaggerating a little there. I get between 36-38mpg, same with other rav drivers just like in the video. Just saying so people don't go and buy one thinking there're going to get almost 50mpg out of a rav. With you saying that it gets 47mpg that means it would go 681.5 miles on 1 tank. That's not accurate.
Never got more than 34mph with my 2921 Hybrid. Tried every trick to improve mileage. Have given up. Worst hybrid I’ve ever owned! My Prius did great. Dealer is useless. My Ford Fusion Hybrid got great mileage. Toyota should drop the EPS ratings, Big Lie!
We are in the process of (waiting for a ship from Japan) purchasing a 2023 RAV4 XLE Premium Hybrid. It was very helpful and reassuring to see this video. Thank you for sharing. 👍
I got the Toyota RAV4 Prime last year and am SO in LOVE I actually have kiss marks on it! I've only filled the tank twice since I bought it last June & that's only because I neglected to plug it in. For all of my in-town driving, it's fully electric; and I love everything about it, including that if I want to go on longer trips I can.
Thanks for a fantastic and honest review Nicole. Much appreciated. I'm in the market for a compact SUV. I live up here in Canada. The RAV4 is $3000 cheaper than the Honda CRV and $2000 less than the Mazda CX5. I am leaning toward the RAV4 but was wondering if you could share your experiences with: 1. The 2.5 engine. Does it seem to have sufficient power especially on the highway? I know you have the hybrid version 2. Driving in snow. We get a lot of that in Canada where I am with a mix of freezing rain in it at times. How does the RAV4 drive in snow. Thank you again. Keep up the great work.
We got quite a bit of snow this winter in Washington. I think it handled well and I felt safe on the road! Getting up to speed quickly on the highway is no problem at all. I frequently need to pass semis on my commute and this vehicle has the power to do so. No hesitation.
my 2 cents. driving well in snow has more to do with a good driver and good tires, whether you have studded, snows or all season. i drove a front wheel drive car with studded snow tires in major snowstorms with never an issue, living on top of a mountain. i have my eye on a rav4 hybrid for my wifes next car. looks great
@@joeraptor1 I would strongly advise getting the hybrid version over the gas version. I leased the gas version and it is kind of a sluggish vehicle. It doesn't have good acceleration and passing vehicles on the highway isn't the best. Don't get me wrong, it is more than capable of doing it, but the hybrid version is night and day. The acceleration is just so much better with those electric motors. And it costs like $1000 more to get the hybrid. That will literally pay itself off in a year or two of gas prices, especially the way they are nowadays. I'm upgrading to the hybrid XSE fully loaded version (just got mine allocated after a 6-month wait) and could not be more excited!
Thanks for the great and informative review! Are the seats/headrests comfortable? I test drove a RAV4 XLE hybrid with cloth seats and found it to be too stiff. Thanks!
@@Nicole.Sisson Pull the head rest out and turn it around. That should fix your issue. It worked for me on my vehicle that does the same thing. Hope that helps.
We were just hit from behind at a stop sign on Friday. Our car had to be towed. Looking at the rav 4. Had a tuscon and I loved it. Thank you for your review! It helps a lot to determine what car we will be getting.
Never heard of TABS before. I live in MD and we don’t pay taxes, just $180 for registration every 2 years. Some of these so called “green” states are just ripping off customers
Never heard of Tabs before either. In Illinois, it's just a renewal sticker and basic car plates are 151 a year. It's a little extra for a personalized plate.
I got a used 2010 RAV4 Limited V6 4WD 11 months ago at 98,000 miles! Smart key, keyless ignition, auto dimming rear view mirror, backup camera feed IN the mirror, heated seats. I love everything about the car except the stop n go fuel economy lol.
@@OMGtheykilledKenny42 Incorrect. Please read the specs again of some of the trim levels. I can’t comment on North America, but I have a RAV4 Adventure Hybrid coming in July. Also the limited will have power adjusted passenger seats. Please refer to your American dealers for the correct info. NZ
Loved your review on this vehicle. I'm so torn between the RAv4 or the Corolla cross that JUST came out. I love both cars. I don't know which to choose XD. Awesome video and thank you for the transparency.
I prefer the SUV feel of the RAV4. I have never driven the Corolla Cross but I would imagine it would be similar to the Subaru Forester which I was not a fan of. Find a dealer that will let you take one home for the night so you can get the full experience.
My husband is a bass head, so I’m really glad you touched on the audio stuff. No one ever does, and that’s always one of the first things he asks about (usually because he intends to replace the amp/sub later), and it’s information regularly either not known, or glossed over. He will appreciate this info tremendously since we are possibly in the market for a RAV4 sometime in 2022/2023
It's nice to have a stock stereo system that can fulfill your needs without feeling like you need to upgrade right away. It was definitely an important feature I considered when shopping for a vehicle. I think the stock system sounds great btw! Thanks for watching!! 🙂
@@Nicole.Sisson he will appreciate that as well! I don’t particularly want him deconstructing it right away, and he usually does because a quality sound system is a non negotiable for him. Sounds like if we go this route, maybe I can get away with him not doing that for awhile 🙏
It's crazy stumbling on this review as I myself have owned my Rav4 (2019 bought in 2020) for 2 years now and previously owned an Acura RSX. It's awesome getting to see a review from someone who transitioned from the same vehicle to the same vehicle.
Thank you for keeping this review real, honest and for the everyday driver. I am currently a Jeep owner and am leasing a 2023 Wrangler. I have done some homework and Jeeps are not a great long term ownership success. I have a few coworkers tell me that TOYOTA is the way to go. I am considering a RAV-4 or for more off road capability a 4Runner. Thank you for the honest review, its appreciated. Hope to see more long term review on your RAV4.
Glad you found the video helpful! It's been a really great vehicle! I was also interested in the 4runner but I do a lot of driving so the hybrid made more sense. Hope you are having a great weekend!! 🙂❤️
My daughter just bought a new white XLE RAV and loves it. We have a 2018 with only 36K miles and still love it. They will last a long time, great quality.
After watching this video I went and purchased a 2022 Rav4. Took a couple of weeks to receive it. Never seen or test driven one. I have had the car a couple of weeks now. No complaint,s. Actually pretty nice car. Well worth the extra money.
In regard to the full size spare tire. Yes it is just a temporary spare tire but a full size tire will fit in the compartment. What I did was when it was time to replace my tires I kept one of the best old ones. I ordered a matching replacement wheel off of e bay and mounted the old tire on it. Now I still have matching wheels if I should ever have a flat and can drive as fast and far as I want. You have to do a little rearranging of the jack but it will fit. Nice job designing this Toyota.
I thought it was a full sized tire because it was the same diameter as the original tires. Still a great feature because a lot of newer vehicles do not come with one! Thanks for the update!
Gorgeous, the car is nice as well. The Car Care Nut details some of the problems encountered with certain years of Rav 4's. They are mostly easy fixes......I like the look of the Rav, but also like the Lexus NX.
I have a 2019 Toyota Corolla for almost three years, been thinking of getting a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE. I get it Toyota isn’t perfect, but glad those fixes were diagnosed and fixed. Thank you for the sincere and helpful updates and final thoughts.
I just picked up my Prime XSE with the tech package two days ago. Right away I have a few issues that I hope Toyota will fix down the road: 1. unlike Mazda CX-5 or Audi Q5, the cargo cover does not attach to the back door. When you try to reach the back of the trunk, you will have to release the cover, or bend down. Then sometimes I forgot to reattach the cover. CX-5 & Q5 will lift the cover up when opening the hatch to provide easy access to the trunk. 2. the brick like power indicator should be half way on the charge cable, not so close to the plug going in the wall outlet. Not every owner lives in a house that has wall outlets almost down near the ground, or able to install a hook on a wall to hang the heavy indicator. Why don't they provide the hanging cable attached on the indicator to hang onto a hook if that's what they recommended? 3. Likely this one is unique to people living in a condo/apartment and also it's for the Canadian models, the headlight selection is missing the off option to turn off the lights on the back. Sure, daytime running light is required in Canada, but it does not require all the lights on the back to turn on at the same time. The only option is to leave it on Auto. That is an issue for me when going in the U/G parking, the headlight turns on and blinding oncoming vehicle driving up the ramp.
Review is 100% spot on! My wife loves her XSE Hybrid & so do I (except the gas-tank issue). Way cool to have a young women doing a review instead of another grease rag.
Thank you young lady (beautiful smile by the way).. and YES - great review. I was considering one of these- but do NOT like CVTs (transmissions).. but- after watchin your review-- might be worth it...THANK YOU again... (also since I'm getting older- I won't be driving nearly as much- or any "rough" stuff (offroad so much..).. and that should help. Also- since I'm long retired, I have time to go to dealer for service if I need to. (and have 200 mile towing AAA service too).. All in all- the few "possible" issues are not much., and Like you- I do love the look etc.. too!!
@@Nicole.Sisson I will- but I like to do through video research- and then I know what to talk to my master mechanic friends about..and then talk to a Toyota engineer/master mechanic (retired now as of last year) to narrow the field- then let the drive between rials determine final choice.
Bravo Nicole -- EXCELLENT, detailed review. Your review is WAY better and more revealing than the typical TH-cam car reviews which never point out any negatives, and really get into the details. I am looking seriously at getting a RAV4 after deciding that the new Toyota Crown Signia was too expensive at $55,000+ (with CA tax and reg fees). Also the Crown Signia has poor low beam lighting and no spare tire.
I love my 2020. Theres a little insert sold for the center console cubby hole. I didn't see a point in it until I realized teh compartment is just right for the phone and once it is in there it is easier to plug in the phone while driving! neat on your mirror!

Thanks for mentioning the $75 hybrid tax. I’m shooing for a hybrid rav4 and had no idea this tax was a thing. I’ll still probably buy one, but at least I won’t be surprised when I see that charge for my tabs. Thanks!
To everyone who has a 2019-2022 rav4, whether gas or hybrid, if you see that something is not working as it should, or feel a strange smell, check if there is no leak inside the car for water. This is a factory defect. Mine had several separate things and everything turned out because of that. It will take 2-3 days for a full inspection and up to 1 month or more to fix all the damage.

Always appreciate comments like this!! Thank you!! ❤️❤️
We bought a 2019 RAV4 for my daughter. It’s now late 2024 and she still loves it as do I. In typical Toyota fashion, absolutely no repairs other than regular maintenance. Runs today like the day it was brand new.
Toyota makes a great vehicle! 🙂❤️
We just bought a 2023 RAV 4 SE Hybrid, your post after two years of ownership definitely helped me decide to buy this vehicle. After two weeks of driving I am so glad we bought this great SUV.
So glad to hear you found the video helpful and are enjoying your vehicle!! ❤️
Crazy. I get 597 when I fill up in the summer. Mainly city driving, but lots of hills.
Any car has a different milage range based on how you drive. 😊
That is impossible. 390 - 460 mph is what a "normal" fuel car averages. Unless you are 100% on highways, on street use, this car delivers 550+ mph per full tank.
@@matatoto9805 it's miles per tank. Not MPH. 🙄
@@decentrik I know. It was a typo mistake from my side.
Glad I can help! 😁 Good luck in your search. Lots of things to consider when finding the perfect vehicle for you and your lifestyle!
@@Nicole.Sisson I have a bunch of questions so can you answer fast as possible
What's the difference between hybrid xse and the xse
Is it sporty or luxury
Is parts & labor cheap or expensive
Do you get all maintenance work done by Toyota or some by a regular mechanic
Do you get car washes from professionals or do ya own car wash
Can you not ig me ignore me thanks a lot
@@ricarroyo5470 The XSE trim only comes with the hybrid option. I would say it's between sporty & luxury. I have Toyota do all the maintenance.
Thank you! It’s been such a great vehicle. I was referring to the cost of annual licensing & registration. 😊
@@Nicole.Sisson Ah, thank you.
I live in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦. Rav 4’s main attraction is its traction on a wet and snowy road in winter. I enjoy driving it.

All the best to you and yours. You are charming and delightful like my wifey for lifey. Mother of our 5 children, and my rock.
@@leonvandenelshout2133 My vehicle is a hybrid so it is gas and electric. I recommend looking into the RAV4 Prime!
@@Nicole.Sisson thank you Nicole! Which Japanese electric car it will be, I don't know. Might be decided in a few years. 🎉🎉
Thanks for your video 👍🏻👍🏻🎉🎉
Thanks for taking the time to make this. It was helpful and I look forward to getting my RAV4 in the future.
You will love it! Thanks for watching!! 😁
How do you change to tank average?
Just bought a 2022 RAV4 Prime in November. I’m loving it as well. Mine is super sonic red. Like yours, it’s absolutely gorgeous!
Nice color choice, love the red!! 😍 Glad to hear you're enjoying your vehicle!! Thanks for watching. 😁
Glad you're enjoying your RAV4! Love all your mods! I'll have to look into those running boards. Door dings are always a concern of mine.

I have this exact car (same color) and love it. Very versatile, comfortable, intuitive, and safe! My only minor critique is road noise can be loud at times. I also had to have the gas tank replaced at no charge as part of the recall.
I ended up having my gas tank replaced as well. It's been a great vehicle! Coming from an RSX I don't have any complaints about the road noise.
Very good, real world review/update. You touched on some things that I never hear mentioned in other reviews of the RAV4. Cheers to many happy miles ahead and thanks!
Thank You! Glad I can help! 😁
Glad you're enjoying your RAV4! I totally agree with you! I intend on keeping mine for many years to come. Thanks for watching 😁
Thank you for this great review. Just this week I bought a 2025 Rav 4 Hybrid. I did a lot of research before buying it. I’m in love, and after your great review of 2 years ownership, I’m more in love with it!
The best care I've ever own. All wheel drive with no drive shaft, great power and great mileage.
Glad to hear you're enjoying your vehicle! 😊❤️
Bz4x sounds like it will be a great choice! Thanks for watching! 🙂
Great car! Will last 20 years+. German cars may feel like they are higher quality but mechanical issues often occur within just a few years (after the warranty has expired!)
Fingers crossed!!! 🤞My mom loves BMW and my dad pays the price 😂
@@Nicole.Sisson Well, you are the smart one in the family by the sounds of it! Haha!
@@Nicole.Sisson did you change to winter tires? Or use the all seasons it comes with?
I went with my son to buy a 2022 Rav4 and not only that he loves it I was totally impressed by the design and craftsmanship of the vehicle. Nicole I love your review of the Rav4

It's the best vehicle I've ever owned and I think it would make a great first vehicle! Hope she loves it too! Thanks for watching. 😁
I've also experienced the traction control alarm going off over manhole covers. Glad you are enjoying your vehicle otherwise!!!
I have come back a few times watching this video. This time I noticed the inside is super clean, like new clean. It is super rare.

Thanks for the review, I bought my 2 month ago and I love it is the description of perfection for me and really like everything from my car, I haven’t had problems with it
So glad to hear you are enjoying your RAV4!! 😁 Thanks for watching!!
Glad you are enjoying your RAV4! I'm surprised to hear they didn't resolve the gas tank problem with the 2021 models!
Nice!! 👍 Toyota makes a great vehicle!! Hoping to drive mine for many years to come!! 😊

This is actually one of the best and to the point reviews I've seen lately. Please post more stuff
Thank You!!
I noticed some of those things at first but now that I've gotten used to the car I don't notice them anymore.
Cheers
It's such a beautiful color 😍
I loved your review! I just ordered a 2022 Toyota RAV4 XLE. I sold my Honda Civic last September and I wanted to upgrade to something bigger. I was excited but your review definitely made me even more excited. Thank you!
The extra space in the SUV is really nice! Still drives and handles like a car. I don't think I can ever go back to a 2 door! Glad I can help! 🙂
Ahhh thank you for this review! I'm in the process of researching my next car and RAV4 is at the top of my list. Your car is gorgeous. I love the white and black trimming and rims.
Thank you! Let me know if you have any questions. 😁

That's great to hear! I heard they were eventually going to come out with this but I wasn't sure when!

Wow, Great MPG! Such a wonderful vehicle 😍
@@Zr1smokinu True. I always drive on eco, still, I am getting 37mpg and in summers it reaches a max of 39mpg.

That's amazing!! Glad to hear you are enjoying your RAV4!! 😁
Thanks for a fantastic and honest review Nicole. Much appreciated. I'm in the market for a compact SUV. I live up here in Canada. The RAV4 is $3000 cheaper than the Honda CRV and $2000 less than the Mazda CX5. I am leaning toward the RAV4 but was wondering if you could share your experiences with:
1. The 2.5 engine. Does it seem to have sufficient power especially on the highway? I know you have the hybrid version
@@Nicole.Sisson Thank you so much for the feedback. I'll be looking into the RAV4 a lot more after your review. All the best.
If you're living in canada, try subaru crosstrek. That car is really good
my 2 cents. driving well in snow has more to do with a good driver and good tires, whether you have studded, snows or all season. i drove a front wheel drive car with studded snow tires in major snowstorms with never an issue, living on top of a mountain. i have my eye on a rav4 hybrid for my wifes next car. looks great
@@joeraptor1 I would strongly advise getting the hybrid version over the gas version.
Thanks!
I find the seats quite comfortable. The only thing I would change is to have the ability to tilt the headrest back because they tilt forward a bit.

Awesome news. You’ll have a power gate passenger seat with the 2022 trim level.

Definitely Subaru Forester if you want AWD
I 100% agree with this. I just got the rav 4 2022 XLE, I rarely have complaints about the car & overall love it 😁
It's been such a great vehicle!! Glad to hear you are enjoying yours! 😁
Very cool. Thanks for the review. I'm looking at a Rav4, because of the upgraded body style, which seems more masculine now.
Good video, i had mine for 2 years now. Under 20,000 miles. This car is very safe and reliable, with the best mpg for a suv.
Thanks!! 😁 Love the vehicle!
It's crazy stumbling on this review as I myself have owned my Rav4 (2019 bought in 2020) for 2 years now and previously owned an Acura RSX. It's awesome getting to see a review from someone who transitioned from the same vehicle to the same vehicle.
Too funny!! I miss my RSX at times but I really enjoy the extra space inside my RAV4. I could never go back!
Toyota makes a great vehicle!! Glad to hear you are still enjoying your RAV4! Looking forward to many years and miles in mine 🙂
Thank you. Your review helped me make my decision on a purchase of 2022 XLE Premium.
You will love it!! 😁
From the first 2 min. I understand you re in a passion with this car. Mine will arrive in the end of this month.
That's exciting! I hope you enjoy the vehicle!! 😊
I'm looking into getting the 2022 rav4. I've never own a Toyota before so I've been watching alot of reviews. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Love my RAV4!! I used to own a Celica long time ago. Toyota makes a great vehicle!! 😊
After watching this video I went and purchased a 2022 Rav4. Took a couple of weeks to receive it. Never seen or test driven one. I have had the car a couple of weeks now. No complaint,s. Actually pretty nice car. Well worth the extra money.
Glad you are enjoying your RAV4!!
I am researching purchasing a Toyota RAV4 hybrid and your video is helping me make the decision I appreciate the honest feedback of your vehicle
Glad I can help! 😊
Thanks for the great video. I am contemplating getting a 2024 RAV4. It’s looks like a fantastic car!
I've owned the vehicle for almost 5 years now and still love it! 🙂👍
Gorgeous, the car is nice as well. The Car Care Nut details some of the problems encountered with certain
years of Rav 4's. They are mostly easy fixes......I like the look of the Rav, but also like the Lexus NX.
4:02 wow it even comes with a fur front cable system for towing? very fancy! 💅🏻
I think you are the first to catch that! Lol It's always fun trying to film with all these neighborhood cats. 🤣
My wife and I just purchased my daughter a 2022 hybrid xse. She loves it also! Thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!! Glad to hear she is enjoying her RAV4!! 😁
Thank you, Nicole. Well done. Answered several questions.
Glad you found the video helpful! 😊
Glad I can help!! 😁 I love the extra room in my RAV4. I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to a 2 door!
I loveeeee my 2018 Rav 4 hybrid. I would love the new model look but I am so happy with my purchase.
Glad to hear you are enjoying your RAV4! 🙂
Thank You!! Glad you guys are enjoying your RAV!! 😊
I just bought a 2023 Rav4 Hybrid! Love it ❤
Good choice!! 😊☀️
Thank you for this great review! I have a 2021 and I’m loving it so far, it’s my best car ever and I’m probably going to continue buying Toyota!
Glad you are enjoying your RAV4! I used to have a Celica, very reliable! ❤️ Toyota!!
A great long tern review, it was hard to find a video this good. Super hot too!
Awesome review thank you! Feels very relatable as another Washingtonian, from someone who doesn't some how work for a dealership or something.
Thanks for watching and glad to hear it was helpful! 🙂
Great review from an actual Rav 4 owner .
You tell it like it is , good and bad . Kept up the great work .
Thank You!! 😊 Living with the vehicle definitely gives you better insight into the pros and cons.
All in all- the few "possible" issues are not much., and Like you- I do love the look etc.. too!!
Glad you found the video helpful. You should go on a test drive and see what you think! 😊
I think I know what you are talking about. I did see that recently on a RAV4 FB group and plan on looking into it! 🙂
Thanks to your video it help me decide between
Toyota Corolla Cross XSE Hybrid or
Toyota RAV4 XSE Hybrid Hybrid
I picked the RAV4 white ❤
Glad you found the video helpful! You're going to love it. ♥️✨
I’m purchasing a 22 Rav like yours. Mine is 24 yrs old. She has served me well.
Sounds like you got your money's worth! You're going to love your new RAV4! 😁
@@Nicole.Sisson I did I paid cash for her after I got inheritance after I lost my second parent. She started leaking oil fixed the one area and then there’s some thing from another we just don’t wanna spend anymore money on it. But yes I did and I cannot wait for my new one I’m getting the Calvary blue!
Great Job covering the RAV4 !
Appreciate the support!! Thanks for watching! 😁
Great review of the Hybrid RAV4. I very much appreciate your honesty and In-depth analysis of the Vehicle. ❤️
Thanks! Glad I can help 😊
This was the nicest review I've ever seen. Thank you
Thank You!!! 😊
Great video! I see you live in Washington. How do you keep your car clean over there with the strict no washing in your driveway rule?
Thank you. I'm not aware of this rule. I wash my car in my driveway all the time. 😊
Thanks for mentioning the $75 hybrid tax. I’m shooing for a hybrid rav4 and had no idea this tax was a thing. I’ll still probably buy one, but at least I won’t be surprised when I see that charge for my tabs. Thanks!
Glad I could help! Unexpected expenses are never fun. 😅
Thanks for the advice. 👍
