I call it play money because our household expenses are already covered with our retirement and social security so it's not financially a necessity. This guy has a winner approach and if you're new to driving and want to make the $$ then pay attention to what he's saying. I will say that I bought an Elantra hybrid that gets 55 mpg and I've put 85k miles on it in one year (used strictly for Uber) however, it was Uber money that allowed me to buy and make monthly payments on what little is left to pay off. I have also thought about breaking up my driving days by just working during rush hours and some late, late nights. I've been driving almost 5 years and now, I'm driving full-time and realized that I need to be more strategic with my ride acceptance. This was good information and advice.
What you need is a better profession. Driving at this point is only for the very desperate and Uber knows that. Maybe get your financial advisor license and build a book. Driving late or in rush hour will not get u where u needed to be. Just a sore back.
You’re absolutely correct you would definitely have to put in the time. When I was making that much money I was putting in anywhere from 70 to 80 hours a week. That’s active time so I’m sure I was out driving for as much as 90 hours that week without having the Uber app on all the time. Now it’s just not worth killing yourself over it
Why stop selling cars? Get a C350e off lease Mercedes Benz and enter the Luxury lane with a hybrid on Lyft and Uber. Not sure if this setup works in Chicago but it definitely works in San Diego, CA! GREAT video Mr. Sergio! Keep up the GREAT work!
Don't believe the BS. 2021 was not even close to a normal year because we were just coming out of the lockdown and it was surging everyday, all day long. In 2023 he can drive 24 hours a day 7 days a week and he wouldn't even come close to making $175.
The main reason this whole industry has gone down the tube besides these companies trying to rip off drivers is that when you have an opportunity that any person can do it gets saturated
@@sergioSMTMC1 If he is doing 6 figures it's only because he's driving 15 to 20 hours a day. Like I said before Sergio, I'm willing to bet anyone $10k that if he does 6 figures in 2023, it's only because he working 7 days a week 15-20 hours a day.
You can't drive more then 12 hours a day..( as of last 2 year or so it's tracked in the app itself for safety. ) so he's doing it at 12 or less which is huge
Thats great that he is making the most money but it seems like he might be working the most hours... It all comes down to his average per hr income. It seems like he is doing a lil over $40 an hr but thats with the weekday and weekend quest. 200 rides per week only happens if you are out the 70-80 hrs a week. I just started 3 weeks ago and am making $1,1000 in 27 hrs a week (9 hrs x 3 days). So if I spent the same amount of time he does out there, I can make $3k a week too... Sergio is right, the guy is a diamond in the rough for Uber, bc, he is working himself to death for them.
A full-time driver in Orlando could make about $160 a 12-hour shift minus $40 gas money you do the math... I have yet to see a five-dollar surge in Orlando
Me and my girl we both do Uber 6-9 hours a day, 6-7 days a week and we bringing in 250$-400$ depending on our needs and we do it in Orlando/Kissimmee area mainly. If your only making 160$ on a 12 hours shift u have to be doin something wrong. I hope u was able to correct it being that this is a 4months old comment, Blessings! 💪🏾🤌🏾
Definitely significantly down I’ve been driving for six years now 2 of them full-time last year I made 85,000 this year is looking about 20,000 less like BOTI said these 2 and 3 an 4 dollar rides are horrible
Exactly... not only made $20k less everything is $20k more expensive The A.I algorithms are not designed to make drivers more profitable the algorithms are designed to eliminate the drivers.
Surge doesn’t exist in Las Vegas… they’ve switched to 1.50-4.50 boost and $10 if you pick up at Allegiant stadium during a game. Glad he’s making his money
Clean car is the number one thing to do to get tips second is a phone charger usb c & lightning then water especially on airport runs but let them ask it adds value and you dont have to constsntly check if one has been taken or opened and put back Rideshare goes in waves you have to adapt change and overcome very hard to be consistent long term full time Chicago is a whole different animal
I like Sergio, so don't think I'm here to clown on him, but what he fails to point out is that those numbers are from 2021. That year was an anomaly because we where just coming out of the pandemic and there weren't enough drivers so the surges where crazy. It was surging everyday all day long. I did $110k in 2021 only driving 6 hours a day and I didn't even start driving again until March 15th of that year. I also only worked 15 days in December. I'm not sharing my numbers to boast about myself, I'm just sharing to help people understand that 2021 was not a normal year. I like Sergio, but IMO he dropped the ball on this story, because he failed to explain the circumstances of 2021. When/if Sergio does a story on this guy's numbers in 2024 for to 2023, I am certain he won't even make half of what he made in 2021. I'm willing to bet anyone $10k.
@@joedriver2588I’m not even making half the amount I used to make last year. AND I’m driving more! I’m comparing the difference between the 2 years, and I think I can pin it down to the bonuses. Every Sunday and Thursday there was a big spike in earnings, and it’s because I was always doing the weekly/weekend bonuses of ride amounts for bonuses ie 60 rides for (approximately..sometimes more, sometimes less.) 180.00. That, alone, raised my earnings at least 360 dollars more/week. And not to mention the more frequent and higher surges. Because I had incentive to make those bonuses, I made more trips and therefore more $$$. I’m in LA, btw. I’m in denial about the amount I’m making, now!😂Hopefully, something will give…if anyone is down for a strike, count me in!
Nice interview. I'm a data guy also. Wish more of that kind of info was included in this video. Stuff like what kind of car specifically he drives? What kind of rides does he do? UberX? Comfort? And how much his costs are and average miles driven.
I've been driving over 4 years. I do it part-time, my goal is $200 , it's like uber knows my goal, many times I put last ride request and it will hit $199, they know I want my $200 & I will get a request that is like $5😂 , I have to say my rides come in over $2 a mile mainly.. I do believe uber pays everyone differently.
Fantastic interview as usual! Thank you Boti For sharing your insights and strategies. Thank you sergio for doing A great job asking relevant and pointed quesjinx to help us drivers maximize our income.
I cherry pick to a certain degree and I will tell you why. I am working in the Winston-Salem NC... Winston-Salem as far as land mass goes is a large city but everything is spread out. It is not densely populated like one would see in larger cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York. In those cities you probably aren't losing anything by taking every ride. In my area though, I have to pay closer attention. I am seeing more and more trips where I am being asked to drive 15 to 16 miles just to get to the rider. This is not including the mileage I will drive once I pick the rider up. The fare is like $8 or less. I am not going to ever take that ride. I get ride requests to take riders to Charlotte Douglas International which is around 90 miles one way and an hour and a half of driving time. When I first started doing this the fare would be $85 now it's $45. I am not going to take that ride either... My goal is always $200. I always work at least 8 hours everyday. And I usually am around 20 to 25 rides a day. I don't always hit $200. Sometimes it's less. I don't want to cherry pick but I also don't want to get taken advantage of and a $45 fare for a 90 mile trip one way that takes an hour and half to complete is grossly taking advantage of any driver who takes that trip. Yes I can set my app to give rides on the ride back but that does me no good if the rides I am offered means a trip 10 to 15 miles back in the direction of where I just came from and then have to turn around head back north again. You guys are talking a lot about the denser populated areas but not really discussing people who live in more rural areas. I am definitely not lazy. I keep a 4.95 or above star rating and right now it is 4.98...
At the time when the pandemic was going on, my acceptance rate was 98% and my cancellation rate was 1% that was the gravy train time. Now my acceptance rate is 24% and my cancellation rate is 11% now I cherry pick all day.
I'm very curious to see a follow up interview of how well he did this summer. I've been driving two months in Chicago and I avaerage $25hr weekday and $28hr on weekends. I typically drive 8 hrs. I dont chase surges, I figured out very quickly they are a scam and so are the boosts. So I sideye Chicago drivers claiming they rack up with surges.
I drive in Puerto Rico and the rates are very low compare to other places and I would like to know why, the cost of gasoline is the same as on the states and the cost of living is the same. The roads in Puerto Rico are not the best and the distances are not the same, we hit gridlock alot and you can seat in traffic for ever. Uber needs to review the fees and take into consideration all of the above.
Great show always, has anyone had issues with the call support center in the Philippines? They have lied to me consistently and laugh and hang up. Has anyone experienced this?
Where is it documented that rides outside of the Chicago city limits don't count towards the time limit? There's no differentiation of time online for that in the app.
@@sergioSMTMC1 I read the article about Boti from the link in the description but did not see it mention that drivers can exceed 12 hours online per day, if some of those miles are outside the city limits of Chicago. I thought the 12 hours online restriction was a federal policy and local jurisdiction wouldn't matter.
The biggest recommendation I can give as a la Uber driver is to buy some tie straps and a tip jar with a handle and attach it specifically to the left side of the passenger headrest. I attach a small light behind the sign I put on a jar in English and Spanish saying tip jar so people can see the jar clearly at night. I also, between the seats put free candy. I also put a big speech that I laminated and attached to the front of the candy holder telling people what a rip-off uber is and how little we get paid and how we depend on tips. And I put a light over the candy and that sign also. If you do those two things you will be amazed, people will be reminded about tipping, people that don't tip will tip out of guilt because they took the Candy. By the way Jolly Rancher five flavor my best choice people get very excited. Add what people will do at the end of the ride is they will waive the money next to your face right between you and the tip jar and say Here's your tip and they'll put it in the tip jar if your tip jar is out of your proximity site, they will not get credit for tipping if you don't see them tip! That's why they want to wave it and then put it in the jar. You will be amazed sometimes you will see a $20 bill in there. If you appreciate this recommendation that's going to make you 10 to $30 a day extra, you can venmo your appreciation to RoyCleansHB. PS I keep the tip jar empty number one to prevent theft and number to the rider will know that I will know that they tipped me because the jar was empty prior to their ride
If you have to make people feel bad about your earnings then you're in the wrong business. I do absolutely none of that and make $40/hour consistently. People don't want to hear your pity party.
@@MauricioR23 congratulations on $40 an hour. What days of the week and what Market are you in? Because in Southern California that does not happen except for a few hours on Saturday night maybe... follow my other recommendations and you will bump your $40 higher
I did read the article Sergio . I know this might sound weird but How much does this guy pay in Tax each year - I gross about 90K each year but get all my Quartly back the next year mostly because Uber designs it that way for their benefit but if your doing less miles but doubling your income. What would one pay in Tax ? Is it a gain or loss ?
Hi TheRideShareGuy or Sergio, am a uber driver. Is it possible to drive in multiple states? For example, i want to visit my parents in another state but i also want to drive there when i have time there. Is it possible to do that, will uber allow that?
Can someone tell me how to get in contact with Lyft if I can not get into APP AFTER NOT DRIVING FOR 11 MONTHS I REAPPLIED AS A DRIVER AND FOR RENTAL CAR. In my area there is no stacking anything, no promotions, no nothing. About once per week there will be a $2.25 surge for a few minutes but that's about it. 100% not in the ideal market. Oh well.
My area has a totally different time schedule and surge. Cannot do this schedule at all. We don't get a surge at rush hour and we don't have quests. I started Nov 2021 and I heard u can't male as much now. I live on maui. It's slow here
Hey Sergio, good to see you as always. I have a question regarding Uber‘s latest, opt in or die, update to terms and conditions, and when I go in there and I look at it, it’s Uber’s Latest update to the agreement as of January 6, 2020. Basically what I can read, is they want to be held totally indemnified in case of anything, I think that might be against the law to have you sign in agreement that is not legal I mean I could hold you harmless and if you do something to harm me or part of something that harms others, you’re in the boat with me and I’m not gonna send you a life preserver. Any thoughts on that? Thank you as always Michael from Newport Beach California.
With regard to the highest earner in the US. Yesterday I sold my Honda with 176,000 miles. Because of the excess driving over 2 1/2 years I drove for Uber, I lost between four to five thousand dollars in resale value. Uber is not going to compensate me for this . At the end of the day, driving for any company and using your own car is a loosing proposition.
@@georgedragich6056 I fully realize that! We are all making much less than in the Golden Days. I have been driving for a living in one way or another in SF for over 41 years now. What inspires me is to reinforce what I always knew specially nowadays you must drive two shifts with a break/nap in between.
That kept pushing a Uber eats delivery(which I'm not signed up for) for $2.38 + expected tip. Nobody tips anymore. I'm not concerned with acceptance rate anymore at all.
And at the drop of a hat, he could get deactivated for some false allegation complaint from some greedy customer who makes a false complaint just to get a free ride.
You need to interview me. I netted $72k in 7 months in the Boston market. I might just be highest earning Uber driver in the world, or at least somewhere in the 10 top ten. @@vegetable-exit5689 No. I’ve been a rideshare driver for about 2 years now. I only worked Uber/Lyft for months last year because I spent 4 months overseas. On the other hand, it’s the strategy that I use and the consistent results that I get that matters, not the time length I’ve been a driver. I understand the market I work in very well and my earnings always meet or exceed projections.
This is so shocking so just like a lot of you said this is so basic keep your car clean and if you want to make the most or the potential to make the most be available at all times ready to go that can be performed by anybody anywhere any City in any state or any country in the world what it comes down to is luck you can have the majority of people function just like this individual and their be very vast gaps in earnings and that is with having the same overall stats excetera who's better with Rideshare is that you're not as reliant on gratuity so it is much more of a fair process I believe or at least it's setup to be much more fair the fact that these companies that also provide delivery services are using gratuity as a variable to push their profits sway the minds of investors and continue with the false Narrative that their platform is paying out averages of 25 or $30 an hour when in fact if not accounting for all of the expenses involved and them not using gratuity which is mind-blowing and wild that it's allowed them to do this they would be delivery companies would be paying an average of possibly a dollar 75 an hour
$200 a day is nothing. Can do it in 4 very early rides to the airport at $37 plus 15 to 20 sometimes 30 tips.. then you have another 8 to 9 hours to goof around. Start my day at 3AM too. During rush hours I stay on the streets and within a 6 miles radius. I don’t take anything longer than 6 miles at surge prices. Reason why, I just don’t want to end up at either a mental hospital or in county jail :) if you work hard and smart, it’s min of 400 to 500 a day just from Uber, then you have others companies to work for if you choose to.
5,000$ a week ubering? I don't believe that. There's no way. U can only drive 12hrs a day and he said he just does uberx. Dude is straight lying about 5k a week. 1500 a week yes
I always have a clean car so throw that out..I mean it helps but, here in San Antonio its just not big factor ..However, i personally keep my car A grade...

@@Wazabanga1 Good. I was nervous as if I might be missing out on tax benefits by not going LLC. From what I can see is the protection of an LLC but I'm assuming insurance is able to cover these unlikely occurrences.

what is crazy, here in Hawaii drivers are starting to stage in the pick up zone waiting for rides. They don't even drive to the lot. I've even heard they are scooping rides. If you have ever gotten a request and driving to the pick up zone at the airport (oh yeah, this is regarding airport pick ups.) you get a cancel; well another driver probably scooped the ride, offered the rider a cheaper fare. So of course the rider will cancel. It doesn't cost them anything. But Uber looses out as well as the driver even if he or she gets put back at the top of the Q. Has anyone else seen this happen or was told. I was told this happens from the airport security. I always thought it was the taxi guys but I guess it is our partner drivers cheating all the other drivers. Geeez it's getting really cut throat out here. You wanna make 12$ an hour.... work Hawaii. Not always good.

I'm new to this channel. It was recommended by my Uber friends. After watching a few episodes, I must say that the advice here seems pretty unrealistic. The rideshare industry is saturated with drivers, and the competition is fierce. The idea that there's a special formula to succeed is misleading. Uber has evolved into a delivery service, and the days of significant bonuses are over. Driving for Uber often means putting in 50 to 60 hours a week just to earn $15 to $20 per hour. It feels like the rideshare game is no longer worth it.
I'm curious right now in Peoria Arizona and the Phoenix area we're paying anywhere from $5 to 520 a gallon what kind of prices is everyone else fighting and what city are you driving in
I'm in Chicago, too! Great interview, a clean car is paramount, I also only play classical music, which is quite well received by many of my passengers. I'm a new driver on the Lyft platform three months in with 1200 rides (I rent my car), just passed my background for Uber and I'm looking at Sally currently so I can use both platforms. I'm also looking into acquiring my restricted chauffeur license. What app is Boti using to track his data (expenses, miles, etc)?
I used to be a driver but the demeaning quality of doing $3 rides became too much to bear. I became a casino table games dealer instead and now make $80k a year doing 26 hour weeks. To anyone contemplating another career choice, I'd say don't let routine or fear of change stop you from achieving better. Im on my way to making $150k full time soon.
I have to say I thought Rafael from Boston was the highest so how is this man the highest which one is the highest. I believe the platform is missing something here

You’re absolutely correct you would definitely have to put in the time. When I was making that much money I was putting in anywhere from 70 to 80 hours a week. That’s active time so I’m sure I was out driving for as much as 90 hours that week without having the Uber app on all the time. Now it’s just not worth killing yourself over it
Yes no free lunch

Great interview, being a driver for 6 years and 25,000 rides this guy makes sense, although I work on a major college campus
We had a video on Levi couple of weeks ago, a very successful university town driver
He's still doing 6 figures but not 175k
@@sergioSMTMC1 If he is doing 6 figures it's only because he's driving 15 to 20 hours a day. Like I said before Sergio, I'm willing to bet anyone $10k that if he does 6 figures in 2023, it's only because he working 7 days a week 15-20 hours a day.
It’s not because anyone can do it, it’s because people have nothing better to do. FJB
You can't drive more then 12 hours a day..( as of last 2 year or so it's tracked in the app itself for safety. ) so he's doing it at 12 or less which is huge
and I love the part about Chicago not being a big city 😂
Thanks for the support, except that he's working for himself, share the link with your community
How are you making 1,100 in 27 hours?
A full-time driver in Orlando could make about $160 a 12-hour shift minus $40 gas money you do the math... I have yet to see a five-dollar surge in Orlando
All markets are different, Florida is one of the worst in the country
Me and my girl we both do Uber 6-9 hours a day, 6-7 days a week and we bringing in 250$-400$ depending on our needs and we do it in Orlando/Kissimmee area mainly. If your only making 160$ on a 12 hours shift u have to be doin something wrong. I hope u was able to correct it being that this is a 4months old comment, Blessings! 💪🏾🤌🏾
$40 gasoline? Are you driving a hybrid car?
Definitely significantly down I’ve been driving for six years now 2 of them full-time last year I made 85,000 this year is looking about 20,000 less like BOTI said these 2 and 3 an 4 dollar rides are horrible
Agreed but all storms will pass
Exactly... not only made $20k less everything is $20k more expensive
The A.I algorithms are not designed to make drivers more profitable the algorithms are designed to eliminate the drivers.
If the drivers won't take these rides they won't exist.

I think if you been driving for awhile this is all commonsense
Ok great that you know it, you'd be surprised
Clean car is the number one thing to do to get tips second is a phone charger usb c & lightning then water especially on airport runs but let them ask it adds value and you dont have to constsntly check if one has been taken or opened and put back
Rideshare goes in waves you have to adapt change and overcome very hard to be consistent long term full time
Chicago is a whole different animal
Chicago may be top Uber market nowadays
This man is an example of, intelligence makes you money. It's very easy to be a driver but it's very hard to be a successful one.
What a great comment, hot the nail on the head

I've been driving over 4 years.
Uber is paying $30hr. Their computer is programmed for $32.5hr in Massachusetts. Sat/ sun and Fridays , 3am to 6am is as airport time.
This guy doesn’t cherry pick as he said about 3 40dollar rides didn’t talk about acceptance rate it’s not as good as he makes it out to be
acceptance rate and cancellation rate mean NOTHING.
You did not listen to the whole interview
At the time when the pandemic was going on, my acceptance rate was 98% and my cancellation rate was 1% that was the gravy train time. Now my acceptance rate is 24% and my cancellation rate is 11% now I cherry pick all day.
He might be a good driver but the fact he lives in Chicago don’t hurt
Absolutely, every city is different and Chicago is a top 3 city
I'm very curious to see a follow up interview of how well he did this summer. I've been driving two months in Chicago and I avaerage $25hr weekday and $28hr on weekends. I typically drive 8 hrs. I dont chase surges, I figured out very quickly they are a scam and so are the boosts. So I sideye Chicago drivers claiming they rack up with surges.
It’s so funny this business is not rocket science. A lot of the stuff is out of our control, but commonsense will tell you when and where to work.
You'd be surprised how a majority of drivers do not do that
I'm a 7 years uber and lyft driver,30k plus rides already, last year the total i got pay was 95k working 5 days in miami,i get a lot of cash also..!

Uber certainly is not loving their drivers back.😂

Whatever happened to the Rideshare Queen, the guy in Chicago who worked 80 + hours a week?!
Not sure, Queen and Guy?
I stayed in June of 2019 and have about 17,000 rides in four years!!
Also you can do more than 12hours the rides outside of Chicago city limits don’t count on your time
Where is it documented that rides outside of the Chicago city limits don't count towards the time limit? There's no differentiation of time online for that in the app.
The only option is to switch apps between Lyft and Uber, for 24hr/7days a week
Correct, it's in the article
Good points

One more thing, driving 84 hours a week is half the week. Their are 168 per week. To make the $2000 he is basically not having a life.

What app is he using for data?
$200 a day is nothing. Can do it in 4 very early rides to the airport at $37 plus 15 to 20 sometimes 30 tips.. then you have another 8 to 9 hours to goof around. Start my day at 3AM too. During rush hours I stay on the streets and within a 6 miles radius. I don’t take anything longer than 6 miles at surge prices. Reason why, I just don’t want to end up at either a mental hospital or in county jail :) if you work hard and smart, it’s min of 400 to 500 a day just from Uber, then you have others companies to work for if you choose to.

what is crazy, here in Hawaii drivers are starting to stage in the pick up zone waiting for rides.
