How come you're so pro uber and Lyft?
They treat drivers like garbage you seem to have their back on everything. I am going to keep my eye on your channel. And I will be calling you out if you're a shill for them. Obviously I've only seen a few of your videos. But what I've seen so far sure seems like you're paid off buy one or both of them.

All I ever do is drive at night. All of these points are very accurate and true. Always pay attention to everyone as they approach your vehicle. When you’re approaching the pick up location it’s important to always park where you will be able to see the rider(s) approach your vehicle. As I pull up to a location I always leave my Suburban in drive with my foot on the brake until I see the riders and deem them to be safe. Keep your doors locked until you’re ready for your riders to get in and never park where you block yourself in and can’t simply keep driving forward in the event that you need to leave. Always be aware of your surroundings. Be aware of the types of neighborhoods you pick up in. Night time driving is the best in my opinion. It’s just you, your riders and the wide open road.

There's a good 3-piece cleaning kit that car detailers use. You keep the three bottles and some microfiber towels in your trunk organizer. You can clean it instantly, if it should happen. People exaggerate this - and you are proof of it. Just once in six years.

Stuck up, entitled, pretentious girls, pimps and hookers and overall people who can't handle Vegas..... basically a million ways to have that one girl report you and ruin your job. I’m in a big city market too very similar to Las Vegas, think of Las Vegas in the East coast, (Miami). Anyhow, I agree with you, most of what Jay is talking about does not apply in my market, no bonuses, no incentive for driving weekends nights all the way to the morning hours…I’m generally working on Fridays and Saturdays anywhere from 9 or 10 pm to 8 or 9 am and we are hardy getting any surge prices too. Unfortunately Uber and Lyft aren’t what used to be. And I do agree that at night there is no traffic which is one of the reasons I do it and for that reason I have always been surprised that Uber and Lyft do not pay more at night since there should be less drivers wanting to do nights, plus really is more difficult, more dangerous, it requires more customer service, even driving is more dangerous since there are a number of drivers that are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and those drivers are driving so fast that if they hit you, it could be deadly. Again, unfortunately none of that is important to Uber and Lyft and they aren’t or won’t do anything about it because the main reasons they aren’t offering more money, bonuses or incentives is because they both have an excessive number of drivers all days, all nights, weekdays, and weekends. There is so many drivers here that “Trip radar” is almost nonexistent here. When I get them, just by the time I open them to see the info. it tells me another driver already got it, at least 90 percent of those few I’m able to open are taking right away by another driver.

    • @kwilla2001
      @kwilla2001 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@ardoario4990 Trip radar is a scam. It does not always mean that someone else got it. Sometimes it shows me one and I press on it but it tells me in red that another driver got it, then half a second later I get that same trip. The algorithm makes you think that someone else clicked on it but I believe it assigns it automatically at some point. And I have had times when it pops up already with that red message lol. I don't click on them anymore because it's just an annoying distraction. The ones that stay on are the ones that pay nothing and not worth it, and you can see that by the count that multiple drivers have looked at them and nobody took them.

Been doing 9pm to 3am lately
Pros: No traffic, music sounds better at night, customers are sleepy so they generally don’t try to talk to you.
Cons- Can get slow during weekdays, feels sketchy at times (Idk if I’d advise women to do it), you will get tired if your not trained to drive late. (Will try that keto drink when I get a chance)

Good points. In my market, Fri & Sat nights are for all practical purposes the only time you can count on seeing at least some surge. People taking ubers to go out for entertainment purposes tip better than weekday day riders taking ubers for utility (work, shopping, etc). Traffic (lack of) is a big deal. It's not just that it's nicer having less traffic to contend with. It's the time factor. Far far less time spent stuck in traffic, waiting at traffic lights, etc. translates directly into your bottom line hourly earning rate.

Jay - I'm about to start driving for Lyft and Uber. Your videos have encouraged me to overcome some natural inhibitions, and I appreciate that. What's the very best way for me to overcome some of those issues? Good information -- accurate and documented -- given in a no-BS, un-hyped fashion. Reason and logic. So, thanks!
Also, I really wanted to study the data you've provided in this video. I've been reluctant to be out and around on Friday and Saturday nights myself. Sleep issues have pretty much dictated the easy to maintain the hours you describe here. This may be THE video of yours that put me over the top. In order to catch everything, which included viewing your numbers five times, I slowed this video's playback speed to 50%. You know what? Makes you look and sound more than a little tipsy!
    Thanks again, Steve V
PS -- You expressed curiosity about how much income you may have missed out on by not driving Saturday nights. I'd suggest another way to look at that. It has to do with quality of life. A driver with other obligations, family, for example, might be able to drive 20% fewer hours to meet their income goals, according to your recent experience. Put another way, a driver might be able to earn as much in four days by driving Friday and Saturday nights, instead of their normal five days of driving. (With the quick acknowledgement that you've recorded just one night's data. Other drivers, in other locations, may do better or worse. Do like Jay and keep good records.)

I haven't driven the whole late night but have been out 'til 3 AM several times. I have had some characters in my car for sure. Some can be a little scary angry drunks but talk to them and keep them calm and get them out of the car as fast as possible. I had a couple young ladies the one time someone puked. They wanted me to leave them in the middle of a bad neighborhood because she felt so bad about throwing up. I refused to do that. We cleaned up as best we could. I had trashbags for her to puke in and I drove them home. After that I got a $50 tip. Definitely made more money late night but some of those scary drunks make it unnerving. Something to consider if you really need the money or not.

Yep, totally worth it. 10pm to 2:30am is the sweet spot. I'll head out around 7 or 8 just to get into the groove and make sure I've got my car washed, supplies and fueled up. I keep to accepting trips with a premium...If you're drunk in my car, there's a premium for that. It usually goes from trips that just have an increased base fare, to full on surge. Many min trips that are $6-8 base fare, plus $5 - $20 surge.

A couple of things to consider is crime might be higher during these hours and even though the roads are empty this is the most dangerous time to drive. I got hit by a drunk driver a few years ago at 3 am. Vehicle had no lights on, blew a red light and hit me going freeway speeds. The ER doctor told me that 1-3 am was the most dangerous.

Just finishing my shift in L.A.
    4 p.m. - 2 a.m.
We get paid for distance. I dial in LAX 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. [if needed].
    Roads move quick.
    Difference between $15-$18/hr. To $35-$38hr.
As per music, depends on the rider
I haven't seen any bonuses tho
Just able to drive more efficiently
My day trips tend to tip higher however

It’s extremely risky. Keep in mind that you can get 4 belligerent drunks in your car. All it takes for them to become violent is one of them requests you drive “a little” to a different location…
Also, keep in mind that it often takes 20 minutes for Police to arrive - you need to fight 4 violent thugs for 20 minutes to survive, not end up unconscious on a respirator in an ICU, and even if you survive, with long-term disabilities…
In short, risk adjusted, it’s not worth it.

I've been driving late night 80% of the time for the last 6 years. Some of his points are valid, however I would not recommend breaking any traffic laws. While it is true that late night there is hardly any traffic but guess what? someone in the crossing traffic is thinking the same. I learned to slow down even when I have green and check both sides. Almost got sided by this guy running red light one time so I never take any chances. Late night crowd is different, you have to have a lot of patience and high threshold of tolerance for people's behavior especially the drunks. It all depends on what kinda drunk you picked up. Some of them are mean, some are friendly, so it all depends. I cannot keep my windows down every time I pick up a drunk person because of the weather but as soon as I hear the window being pulled down in the back, I slow down and pull over to the side of the road. That's a sign that they want to throw up, sometimes they tell you and sometimes they don't. You just have to assume the worst and ask them if they need you to pull over. I have had 3 people throw up in the car and many more outside. I also keep plastic bags in the car just in case and I let them know if they need one. Tips are a hit or miss with the drunk crowd. My market is a college town so I don't expect much tips when they are drunk. Uber bonuses used to be good for late night but not anymore in the last year or so. In general if you don't like traffic and you are an insomniac then late night driving would be the best option for you. There is also a lot of shady business going on at night. You have to be a little more careful with the crowd you pick up. I have been insulted and threatened on multiple occasions and there are areas where I stop any new requests if I'm dropping off someone there. You have to know the city well and avoid dangerous areas at night.

7 yr. Uber driver exclusively at night. Emissis bags have saved me at least a dozen times. I have them everywhere in car since I started. You get a cover for back seat (scuba material)& weather tech mats. 2 times people puked between their legs. Puked on seat with cover and mat. It still will ruin your night though. Working at night time is not what it's cracked up to be. It's dangerous! Anytime you're dealing with alcohol there is likely to be a problem.

Umm . . . Thank you, Jay! Driving in Las Vegas over the late night shift has many more drawbacks than people puking in the car. Shucks! I had a lady puke in my car at 1:00pm, coming from her “lunch” of tequila!
Drawback IS traffic. Concerts are ending, which might be a good thing, except it takes over an hour to get out of the venue area!
Bad drivers here are common, then they get drunk and I’ve had more than a few riders who were t-boned by drunk drivers or drivers of stolen cars (who if they can still walk, run from the scene!).
Sorry, but as long as I’m here, I’ll cut-out at 8:00pm and stick with my $700 week.
I think drivers have to know their area before pulling “over-nighters!”
Sometime it can be outright dangerous at the extreme and costly at the best. I’ve driven here for 5 years. I know the area!
If you’re in the Bay Area, drivers are MUCH more tame and traffic IS much more light . . . Go for it! California drivers make way more than we do anyway, so your theory is kinda messy with the inequality.

I've Always Been A 3rd Grave Yard Shift Worker. Especially With Ride Share Driving. It Is So Much Easier To Navigate Around Without So Much Traffic. Even When Daytime Surge Pay For Demand Is High Most Of That Will Pretty Much Go Right Back Into Your Gas Tank So Technically The Pay Amount Evens Out It's All About What Shift Will Fit Best Within Your Schedule. Yet Although I Wouldn't Recommend Late Night Driving To The Females Unless It's Very Necessary. But If So I Would Recommend To Travel With Mase, Electric Shockers ETC. Or Even Better. I Would Suggest The Food Delivery Platforms When You Can Travel With Someone Who You Know And Trust. One Can Drive While The Other Picks Up And Drops Off The Deliveries. Take Turns With It If You Can. Make It Like A Team Effort Thing To Keep The Car Running At All Times And Someone Other Than You Is Near A Phone And Watching Your Back. Remember SAFETY FIRST ALWAYS

Ketones are the molecules that are created when the body mobilizes the contents of fat cells. They can be used by almost all cells. That state is called ketosis. Brain cells will use them enthusiastically. If you're seriously interested in losing weight (emptying fat cells) you must reduce carb intake to the point that your body switches to ketones. When Jay drank his ketones, they were used preferentially, but he didn't burn any of his own fat, because that wasn't his goal. When my dementia symptoms start I'll be drinking ketones, too.

    • @onedaily2471

I'm in phoenix, az been driving nights for almost 3yrs. Roughly 8pm to 6am. Most of what he says is correct. If have to add that i use less gas driving at night.
Out of 6200 trips I've had 3 people throw up. Once in the car. $250 from uber. Once it the window $40 from customer and $70 fro. Uber. 3rd the girl got half on the back seat because boyfriend didn't hold bag right. $90 from uber. As long as you have a strong stomach is not bad. Odds of someone throwing up is pretty rare. Surges are there from concerts etc. Especially when bars close here at 2am. I've done days a couple times. Way more traffic. Use more gas sitting. 15min trip at night takes less than 15. Days it takes longer because of traffic. So i have more time at night for more trips. Oh and the stories and personalities at night are great.

I was in front of a cop car so i moved out the way a bit. One of cops banged on my car to stop, open the back door and threw him in. Wtf. What's going i said. Another guy said can you take him to xyx. I'm thinking if it took 2 cops to get him in how I'm i going to get him out by myself. The guy had black stuff coming out his nose and was in bad shape. I got to location, down town Atlanta and told a cop i need help. The cops at a club put him in my car. The cop called an ambulance. 30 minutes later they show up. The cop told me to take his number incase i need to make a statement. The next day he called and said the guy overdosed and is still unconscious. If he doesn't make it i need to come in and make a statement. He hasn't called back yet.

The riders are always so grateful so customer satisfaction is very high.
