This is an Idea to you Sergio:
You can become an Uber Union President, people will be more than happy to get it off the ground and running, imagine how many thousand will join it.
      If 10,000 join it.
At 50 dollar at month membership that is 500,000 in a month and imagine getting organized and going on strike against Uber because they are thieves.
Imagine a strike in a major Holiday.
You say Uber has the power, no they don't, drivers have the power but ONLY if they are Organized, you can go on a strike and organize the pick up and collect the money straight from the Customer and pay the driver, of course you explain the situation to the customer.
So if Uber shoots down the app because of the strike you give the service directly to the customer.
You see ? There is a way to fight back !!
But you need to get organized !! And a strike in a major holiday will teach those Bro-Tech MF spoiled rats that the one who does the sacrifice is the Drivers !!

Here’s a good one for you. Do you know in Phoenix that if you book a ride through Uber and it’s more than a five minute wait, they offer you the option of taking a whammo for the same price isn’t this funny they’re trying to get people comfortable with taking the autonomous vehicles and Uber and Google being in bed together or promoting it

Good interview Sergio but you forgot to ask him how much the yellow cab company use to charge him back then or now to connect him with passangers and how much money he was making back then per day. The yellow cabs are still in business and making good money even this day with this 2 companies destroying the prices and the industry. Sometimes it's not the company is the CEOs fault and how he decides to manage the company cause before this CEO we had a great CEO and he was adjusting to make the company better and to pay the drivers better he implemented the surges and also the 3 strike bonuses back then 12 times a day and paying back then $15, $17, 18 and $21 dollars per bonuses but as soon as they new guy came in he just started cutting everything on every body from our surges to our promotions in order for him to make more money for the company and secure his raise salary every year and his bonuses this are the new generation of CEOs who don't care about the companies well beings and it's employees reputation and culture this guy has set up a bad culture for this whole company from drivers complaining and protesting all the time to passangers complaining of how much money Uber is charging them for the same rides this company is in a big messed and dying year by year to keep their drivers because of not having a good strategy or trying to do a honest business with their drivers this year they are going to loose thousands of drivers because of their dishonest practices because drivers know that they can make the whole fare for themselves working for other taxi companies or other transportation companies so they definitely not gonna stay destroying their cars and health to continue doing Uber and been broke all the time not even making $1200 or $1500 dollars a week that is what most drivers are making working for other transportation companies.

@@user-km4gm6kb6s The answer is $300 a week. That money covered royalties and commercial insurance. With Uber they're taking an average of about 51% I know they fluctuate that price to more but let's just say they're taking 50% of what I'm making. I roughly make $1,400 a week through these companies so that means I'm probably paying out roughly $1,400 a week to Uber which is way more than I used to spend running my business. Every time I ask my customers how much they're paying usually it's between 50 and 80% through Uber and Lyft

The thing most people don’t understand: it’s in Uber and Lyft best interest to keep you poor and desperate. That’s how they make sure that ALL the full time drivers are online at least 60-70 hours a week. And that for each passenger there are at least 10 available drivers. So if someone don’t accept the trip, someone else will. As long that there are so many drivers, it’ll never change. It will only get worse.

For the first time Thursday in I don't know how long, I took a trip for $3.31. I had already had two dead hours, a shared ride I had to cancel on because they weren't ready and I was blocking traffic, and had barely started my day. You can't really work in some areas anymore because every single street has 15 parked drivers with apps on. The customer paid $7.94. This pickup was in the West Hollywood area. 1.5 miles of stop signs and lights. 8 mins 19 secs. I immortalize Jan 4 2024 as the worst day I ever drove. Garbage is now what we're reduced as drivers to while they laugh from the glass castles. Mike, you're awesome. I also enjoy the customer interactions. Mike B is 100% OBJECTIVELY correct. Especially about how the companies have a choke hold on city governments. The service is too ingratiated in the transportation system that people rely on it daily. As a result, the city officials risk losing their constituency if they push back on the platforms at punitive levels. The Rideshare Guy would be doing the driver community a bigger service by having articulate and intelligent people like Mike B on more frequently instead of intellectually dishonest gig-tubers like their "contributors".

      @Tigermeg816 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@robinrienerth6521 I started full of steam when I noticed a change in the winds before the bottom started falling out. I tried to unite drivers in my area and get people involved. It became harder and harder as we were inundated with new drivers. It was hard to communicate with many of them due to language barriers. Others were just unapproachable. I have pulled myself back to save myself, and my household. I will always advocate and may step back in when the right opportunities arise…. I urge everyone who has a family to support to remember them and how what you do affects them. It’s hard being away from family. Especially hard on them.
I believe there is a future and there will always be a demand for a service like rideshare. But I think many changes will have to come about to make it sustainable.
The fares are way too low. This service was designed to be a convenience and a luxury. Rideshare isn’t a bus service, or public/gov transportation, nor is it non emergency medical transportation. There are other entities that fulfill those roles.
Many of us veteran drivers have nicer vehicles. Most drivers I know are in SUVs or minivans, or very nice cars. We should be getting paid a premium for the rides we do.
I believe the rideshare companies have built a sense of entitlement with some of the riders with these low fares and how they have treated drivers. This was never originally intended to be the “money saver” option. Rideshare was a premium service when it started. They went cheap and subsidized rides to gain market share. In the process the stabbed drivers in the back and continuously lowered the bar. In the end they no longer worry about quality. They only worry about $1. That’s why Uber X is their #1 product.
If riders want cheap rides, they can take the bus, ride a bike, or one of those scooters or whatever. If they want to bring the buffet with them and pack a U-Haul of stuff with them, they have other services that fulfill those needs too…
There are many safety and security issues that need to be addressed as well.
I don’t have all the answers. But many in our community of drivers have proposed great ideas.
I believe the companies and the drivers could have a lot to benefit from if they would prioritize treating us as their partners and independent contractor service providers…. All this manipulation and shady tactics need to be stopped and replaced with communication and accountability.
No independent contractors or subcontractors in any other industry are treated the way they have been treating drivers……
No one has to walk away and quit this completely though. If you have other opportunities or options put them in play. Let this sit on the bench for a little while.
I can’t guarantee what will happen or what changes will come about or at what time frame. But I can guarantee that I am fully committed and will always be there to support, advocate and will participate in any grassroots movements or efforts to facilitate improvements in the form of better pay and working conditions for gig workers and drivers.

The long trips 4 and 5 years ago were the best money makers, but this has completely flip flopped by this point in time. Used to be the case that because most of the distance was highway miles you got better gas economy, etc, the general efficiency in terms of finances and time was pretty optimal.
The last year and a half to 2 years though that long 50 mile trip for an hour that paid $50-$60 now only pays $25-$30 and costs $35 to perform.
The ONLY trips at this point in time for any one not providing Black level service that can even possibly be profitable to do are the short trips, regardless of type of vehicle used to perform it and driver make about 50 cents net on most of them. Better than losing $5-$10 net like what now happens with long trips, but a driver would have to cram in about 100 short trips per day just to make $50 net after expenses.
This business model is not sustainable, it is not profitable, it is not ethical, and, most importantly, it is absolutely NOT legal. That business model is the literal dictionary definition of a pyramid scheme.
The problem is that because our governmental institutions have become so rotten, so corrupt, so dysfunctional that the US government of today is smashing the records for complete and total dysfunction set by the Roman Republic at its collapse in the first century BCE, our regulatory and investigative bodies such as the FBI, the SEC, the FCC, and the FTC that are supposed to protect the public against such types of abuse and exploitative criminality can’t (or won’t) properly pursue criminal prosecution of the perpetrators due to the vast amounts of monetary lobbying power applied by these organized crime syndicates.
These are things about our society that MUST change and MUST change in the immediate future if we would like for civilization in practically it’s entirety to not collapse completely when the catastrophic economic bubble these pyramid scheme “corporations” are responsible for creating finally collapses.

I've been driving for nearly 8 years. Lyft is doing this cute thing called wage theft, if driver has an issue with a trip where the fare needs to be adjusted. Support automatically escalates the problem and never address the issue and they keep the fare adjustment for themselves. A few weeks ago I ended a trip early because the rider became violent toward me because he wanted me to speed because he was late for work. When I ended the trip there was no fare charged to the rider I ask Lyft to pay me for the several miles and time the rider was in my car. They escalated the problem and never paid me. Forget following up on the issue because they want you to start over. It's a system designed for the driver to fail and they get the upper hand. There were previous incidents where I wasn't paid because of adjustments needed. Also Lyft has paired me at least 3 times with people that I've reported and should have been unmatched from this is a major safety concern. If we don't talk about these issues they continue and nothing is ever done about it.

Dumbfounded I got upset because I literally just told him there's unforeseen circumstance aka a car accident.. I basically told him if he doesn't compensate me I will sue and he hung up on me

That’s exactly what I ve been saying , there is not balance with the app companies when it comes to pricing , one moment they would be charging the customers 3 times a taxi would , and the next minutes , prices are too low that there is not money there for the drivers , it feels like you are working only to tut gas in the tank , another point is , tipping , when I started driving 6 years ago , I didn’t expect any tips , but now we depend a lot on tipping and bonuses, now that the surges and bonuses are almost gone , tips is a big deal , what I noticed is that the cheaper the ride the less the customers is going to tip , let say Uber rides are getting much cheaper or a customers won’t spend more than $15 for a ride , and that is the most a customer are spending , and they will not tip you even if they are just paying $5 for 30 minutes ride , they don’t care how you are or not making money doing this , they will just take advantage of the system , i also notice, a all the time when I see a customer getting out of a taxi 99% they are tipping the driver in cash , i ve seen it and I know they are paying way more for a taxi ride then an Uber

If McDonalds wanted to raise the price of a Big Mac to $20 so they could pay their workers $25/hr, would that be good? No, because no one would buy their product and the workers would be out of a job and making $0. This just happened to thousands of Pizza Hut delivery drivers in California. The companies were forced by the government to pay them more than they were worth in the free market and now they are out of a job.

If the income were to substantially increase for Uber drivers, there would be way more Uber drivers, which would then push the earnings down. The taxis were the ones who had a monopoly by limiting the amount of people were allowed to give rides for money, which made the prices outrageous for consumers.

This was a great guest, I agree with everything he said and felt like my story is very similar to his. I have over 22,000 rides in LA and am tired and ready to move on to do something else. These companies have never cared about us, the drivers who bring in all the money. No thanks what so ever to us drivers. I wonder how big their Christmas bonus was. Shame on DK and DR for treating us like shit. Today I was out driving for 9 hours and made $120.00. The question they may ask about why over 6 million people drive- doesn't deserve answer but a response with other questions like.... Does it make you proud to think drivers are struggling everyday. Do you really think that 120% over min wage is worth having the car leave the driveway. and is it embarrassing to you that you have to pay drivers extra because your reg fares are less than the Prop 22 min? A proud CEO is someone who runs a company that everyone is happy and makes a fare wage.
A true independent contractor can set the prices for the ride. We are NOT partners with them. Partners do not spent hundreds of millions of dollars to keep the wages below the poverty level. Partners support each other. I'm done venting. Keep fighting and Happy New Year everyone. BR

Frankly. The only way to win this battle is to find other creative ways to make a better living. Uber and Lyft will continue finding ways to pay the drivers low wages. Your latest clue, is what lyft calls, 'priority mode.' For those whom don't know what that is. It's a feature in the app that you select, to get more rides, by taking a lower cut per ride. I know that it's hard for some to vacate, because they have family and other very important responsibilities. But it's sad that both rideshare companies are taking advantage of them as well as all of us. This recent and predicted glitch, really affected drivers livelihood. People not having their rent money on time. I was almost in that position. Barely got my money the next day. And i don't know if those passengers tipped, per those tides during the glitch. And for fuck sakes. Lyft didn't try to compensate for this inconvenience. It's business as usual. And it will continue, because no one is going to regulate them.

People are not working out of the office anymore. People are taking longer vacations Because of the benefits of working from a laptop times are changing in Uber is not changing and doing anything but becoming more greedy and how many drivers RD going to keep turning over eventually, they’re going to run out peoples cars are starting to die out or given drivers issues with maintenance. This is not worth it. We are literally losing money doing this.

Today Uber will pay me about $18 dollars for that trip. I moved about 15 minutes/ 15 miles up north( lawrenceville) from that address. And Uber offers me 27 dollars for a trip to the Airport at 4 am. I believe taxi drivers back then could make $500 to $700 a day.

@@teslamike1990 yeah you make it sound like you’re making $700 every day yeah once in a blue moon a leprechaun you made it and did it one time you make it sound like you were doing it all the time your problem in your market is you’re not getting paid enough for the mileage if you can’t get a dollar a mile a dollar a minute third grade math you get out of the business don’t get back in something you can’t make money there’s too many immigrants 6,000,000 of them doing this job for peanuts because they used to make $50 a week in their motherland. Now they’re making $500 a week you’re going to work hard they’re going to keep Uber and Lyft in business and there’s nothing anybody can do about it come back to me in five years gonna be the same situation I guarantee it, we are lucky in Mississippi market Uber and Lyft have been kicked out of this market and came back with great negotiating skills by Mississippi. It’s a dollar a minute and the dollar amount basically all markets are different and if you keep declining declining declining every ride, your situation is only gonna get worse. The algorithms know people that are declining rides. They are trying to get rid of people like yourself that decline rides so it’s working they only want people that want to work and take BS for pay have a great life man. Hope it works out, I would suggest going into another profession that’s my take but everybody has an opinion everybody says I’m the problem at 100% acceptance rate but I make $1500 a week plus tips why am I going to go on strike and boycott in to bite the hand that feeds me I don’t work for Uber. I had to see some receipts on that one $700 back then was a lot of money but you may do it one time but not all the time. The problem is these people meaning all these drivers thousands and thousands of drivers are doing the same job the only thing to help these people is one dollar a mile one dollar a minute or stay on the porch and work from home. You don’t have to go out there in the streets if you live close enough to any where you can get rides right from your house. I do it all the time and I’m 15 minutes away from everything, but I’m lucky I guess they say that they say I’m the problem 100% acceptance rate making $1500 a week and I am the problem. It sounds like they are the problem. They are the ones that decline so many rides to the algorithm to fix up and tries to get rid of them them meaning the ones that don’t want to drive yes they don’t want to drive for pennies on the dollar but the immigrants are driving because you’re used to making $50 a week in their motherland and now they’re making 500 a week we can all be replaced in these big companies know it. This is going to change come back to me in five years and it exactly the same way. Read this comment in five years and make some sense just saying if people don’t want to hear the truth.

Being a realist is tough. The House always win. In the present Macro Economy the law of supply and demand dictates pay. Here in San Francisco because the demand is relatively high and it’s only 7 miles by 7 miles I’m still able to average $30 per online hour but I’m expecting that rate to go down in the next few months after the holidays. It’s true that some municipalities are regulating rideshare rates, but since the City of SF is looking at a huge budget deficit there’s no way that it’s going to propose to take money out of the pockets of rideshare passengers since it needs that money in the City coffers.
