      I'm going to guess that around half of the viewers of this video are atheist. View count, at time of me typing this, is about half a million. That means about 250,000 atheists watched it, so I'm taking the standpoint that 250,000 viewers made a very similar prophecy...
      Either the abrahamic god makes atheists speak its words, OR there were a quarter of a million thinkers who extrapolated based on their own experience of believers who make that kind of video. I've got zero evidence for this argument, of course, but I'm going with my zero evidence argument. Just like the guy Emma responded to...

    I feel like Emma did miss an opportunity here with the “animals don’t marry and therefore we are superior” bit. If you strip away the ceremony, what is marriage but bonding for life? Animals do that ALL THE TIME. There are many species that mate for life, and if divorce rates and incidence of extramarital affairs are any indication, they are FAR BETTER at it than we are.

    • @DarkDemonOfHel
      @DarkDemonOfHel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +171

      Not only that but many also do have some kind of ritual like a special dance or sound they make after bonding. This isn‘t that different. The only one that came to mind is the litte mating dance a freshly bonded pair of virgin termites queen and kings do…and they too bond for life :D

      Humans and every other animals have been surviving for millions of years that way.
      Like the lady (Emma) in the video said, marriage is just a business arrangement. Humans come together and agree to respect each other and each others properties.
      Women were treated as property in the Bible. That is the world that Jesus grew up in. He never fought for women's rights.
      It is only in the 19 th century that european women decided to change the status quo.

      @JLT1003 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      To be fair, I believe he did say that "man" is the highest being -- so at least he's consistent in his absurdity. This also speaks to Emma's excellent point that if you can't have morals without god, then how could morals change over time? (Would imply that god made a boo-boo the first time.) Unfortunately, extreme religious zealots and bible literalists like this have *not* changed their moral code: they still live in the dark ages with beliefs like homosexuality is a sin, women are inferior to men, all other species are inferior to humans, etc. etc. This is another example of a circular argument: you can't have morality without god, and your counterpoint that it doesn't make sense for a god-given morality to change is fallacious, because morality has not changed, because the only correct moral code is what is written in the bible, which has to be true because it was written by god...

      Truly disgusting. From a male, I think that was a true showing of how limited that individual's thinking is.

    I think Emma only noticed the obvious human at the top of the pyramid, but not the fact that it was a man on top, while a woman was on the next rung down (same level as a whale)...

    My grandma was a devout Christian and she raised me in a Christian way… thoroughly Christian! BUT when I questioned the bible during my studies, she told me that if I had doubts about the bible I must do my research. Go to the source, study the original text, read it in the original language, then learn who translated it. She also hugely encouraged learning the history of the bible, the history of how it was put together as a book, the books that were chosen for inclusion and those that were left out.
    She pushed me to always be learning, encouraging me to figure out, question, research, and NOT take the first opinion as truth without reference.
    So just because she had true faith she always understood that others might have question. She was always beside me supporting and guiding me. I’m not a devout Christian as I did carry out my own research…. But I still thank her for every moment she was in my life 🥰

      My grandma is similar in this, she's a Buddhist but she never expected me to blindly believe what she said. It's always better to ask, think, find and answer then use ways to test it.
      She often told me some quotes from Buddhist texts and asked me if I think it's true or false, then ask Why it's true or false, How and How can it become opposite, then finally ask what's I have learned from all the analyzing.

While in reality the hole was there and water just happened to fall in. If any portion of our brain is damaged it has serious and lasting effects, those effects depending on what part is damaged, memory, motor function, sensory processing, facial recognition, higher thought processes, etc.
      And if you need more evidence than that just look at the energy expenditure of our brains, roughly 10% of the calories that we burn in a day are consumed by our brains, disregarding intense exercise which would skew the percentage. Now tell me why in the hell would we have a brain that is 10X the size that it needs to be consuming massive amounts of energy for literally no reason.
      One downside of a larger brain is slower reaction times because of the signal delay between parts of the brain, and the biggest downside is the fact that birthing a human is unbelievably difficult compared to most other mammals, and babies come out far less well developed to have even a chance of fitting out. That's why human hips are so wide, and babies are born small and weak and helpless, they would kill every single mother otherwise.
      If our heads could be smaller by having a brain one-tenth the size we could have babies being born at the toddler stage. Like how a horse is born and can run around literally hours later.

      I was raised in a deeply religious house. But I was also raised by at least moderately intelligent parents. They didn’t want me parroting ideas, but to develop my own to increase my faith. There was a time during the 80’s and 90’s when there was a big push from the church for their youth to do this. It backfired majorly. In their pursuit of knowledge a large portion of the youth researched their way straight out of their faith. Now the church is drawing back on that approach and indoctrinating the young to never question the taught faith, miseducating them on science, and turning them loose to spew their rhetoric in an attempt to strengthen their stance. This is also beginning to backfire, but instead of going back to the roots of faith in he church is now openly attacking anything that questions their smug superiority. They are calling anything that questions their misinformation as an attack on their faith, while actively trying to destroy anything that can possibly break their strangle-hold on their young. Teaching someone that it is okay to love as you wish, despite being one of the core teachings of the very person they claim to follow, is now a sin equivalent of murder. Meanwhile truly heinous acts are dismissed or ignored, all in support of “keeping the faith.”

      For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. {11:8} For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. {11:9} Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. {11:10} For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. {11:11} Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. {11:12} For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of god. {11:13} Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? {11:14} Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? {11:15} But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. {11:16} But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
      ^^^^^These lines claim that (a) woman is (are) a product of (a) man.
      It is clearly referring to the Garden of Eden story. This is the beginning steps that the jewish god takes. It is a critical moment since this step determines the view that the followers of his religion take with respect to women.
      Of course, this religion is man made and when I say man made, I am referring to males. They have designed their religion in their own image.
      The followers of the jewish religion from the time period when 1 Corinthians was written, were certainly literalists. In other words, they literally believed that there was a Garden of Eden and all the descriptions of the book of Genesis.
      The book of Genesis contains clues for them. The creation of man first and the woman being an afterthought gives them clues as to the attitude of the jewish god towards woman. This becomes an excuse for the authors of 1 Corinthians and the rest to devalue women.
      I don’t know what that silly line about “power on her head because of the angels” is suppose to be. {11:10}
      Anyway, the author recognizes that for a man to reproduce, he needs women. {11:11}
      {11:12} is about the guy confessing that men need women and vice-versa. Again, probably he is thinking about reproduction.
      These guys have a big issue with hair. Little trivial things such as the hair on your head has somehow become a big issue in ancient jewish culture apparently.
      They don’t like it if a woman prays without her hair being covered. They also claim that the hair of a woman covers her head so I don’t know, maybe the author is suggesting it is fine for a woman to pray without a cloth covering her head.
      They believe that it is shameful for a man to have long hair. This would be the equivalent of a man wearing a dress, a skirt or a bra in modern society. Most of us would find him weird.

    Thanks for being you, Emma T! We need more, and more easily available, people like you online. I'm just an anonymous Joe Egg, but with just enough of a modicum of common sense to see the good sense in what you're saying. A few observations (which with my luck you probably already know by heart) in support of what you're saying: 1) Edgar Cayce (trance medium, just enough [not nearly all] of whose clairsentient predictions proved correct, making him the object of repeated investigations into the area of expanded awareness and its applications, and unfortunately the recipient of much distortion of his ability into a spiritual icon): "Religion is mankind's oldest excuse for avoiding true spirituality." 2) George Bernard Shaw (I feel I should apologize in advance for the source, in that he's been to a certain extent rightly blamed for fanning the inhuman flames of misogyny): From his somewhat faulted but still instructive play about down-to-Earth, practical spirituality, "Don Juan In Hell" (a.k.a. "Man and Superman", Act III): Lucifer: "An Englishman thinks he is being moral when he is only making himself uncomfortable." Same character later on: "What is man's religion? An excuse for hating me. What is his law? An excuse for hanging you. What is his morality? Gentility! An excuse for consuming without producing. What is his art? An excuse for gloating over pictures of slaughter. What are his politics? Either the worship of a despot because a despot can kill, or parliamentary cockfighting. I spent an evening recently in a certain celebrated legislature, and heard the pot lecturing the kettle for its blackness and ministers answering questions. When I left, I chalked up on the door the old nursery saying, 'Ask no questions, and you'll be told no lies.'" 3) Dr. Sir Arthur C. Clarke, in the last segment of his documentary, "Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World": "Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we CAN imagine." 4) Robert Heinlein, in his novel, "Time Enough For Love", through the notes of the 6,000-year-old man, Lazarus Long: "The gods of most Earthly religions have all the intelligence, manners and morals of a spoiled child." Later in the same notes: "God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent. It says so right here on the label. If you have a mind capable of believing in any of this, I have a great bargain for you, but no checks, please, cash only and in small bills!" Finally, and given what you and all sensible people understand, "For a 'God' who is supposedly all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-forgiving, the 'God' of the Old and New Testaments and apparently the Quran is so insecure, he has an ungodly inferiority complex about his penis, especially regarding the attitudes of self-respecting people towards it, like sensible males, women and children!!!" If these hardcore evangelicals accept that there are contradictions in the bible, they have to abandon the idea of a perfect book, describing the perfect deity - which in turn proofs the non-existence of their god.
      So they will rather cling on to living in denial, ignoring the facts and cherry picking the biblical "truths" suitable for the given situation they find themself in.

      “ ‘Oh dear,’ says God, ‘I hadn’t thought of that,’ and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

      I'd sum up his argument as that you cannot objective prove something that is beyond the system you are experiencing from within the system you experiencing. This would for example also apply to theories such as a simulated universe or even just plain old gravity experiments ... while being on a moving elevator. And he says that if a God exists, he would be similarly beyond our experience.
      He then reasons that what we experience cannot be all there is to it, and that something must exist beyond. And then wants to prove that that would be God. But ... he kinda veers off at that point and instead actually tries to make a case for objective morale (categorical imperative and all that stuff).

Later in life I became a catholic (must have been one of my off days), and remained so for 20 years. However after a while I I noticed I was becoming a little depressed and traced it back to my natural curiosity and inclinations to investigate the world in general. In January 2017, thanks to the internet, I had what I call my week of `divine revelation in reverse`, or my week of enlightenment. My conflict of reality and what the catholic church taught was the reason for my depression. To cut a long story short I am now a happy and content individual who takes pleasure in the natural world around me and get on so much better with others. It was a tough decision to discard my `faith` but well worth it and there is no turning back. Like your videos immensely. Best wishes to you.

He had found all but one edge piece and decided to pray to god to show him where was the last edge piece. When actually, he prayed to St. Anthony, the patron saint of lost things. Knowing that Anthony would need a little time to pass the request on to God, the man took a break from the puzzle and had lunch. After lunch, he decided to continue with assembling the puzzle as if he had completed the edges. Some time passed by and there he was, not looking for the last edge piece when, lo and behold, he found it, just sitting there near his fingers! Proof of God!

When he was going through "people can only be happy when they know God, just imagine what a paradise the world would be if everyone believed" I thought to myself - okay, lets think about the history of Europe, where most people believed in God, and people who openly said they didn't could get themselves into serious trouble. Was *that* world a paradise of everyone behaving morally to each other and no-one having wars or anything? Or were there loads of wars, lots of christian soldiers fighting against other Christians for all kinds of reasons, sieges involving christian people who were servants of the wrong Lord or King being starved to death, and also people being burned or tortured for their beliefs because one set of people thought that another set of people had heretical beliefs. So, no, the evidence suggests that when the vast majority are Christian those societies are *not* in fact paradise on Earth.

In my life I went from being an avowed christian to not being that, and I've watched as almost every single church institution completely collapsed under controversy and hypocrisy bar very few. So seeing in 2022, that there is still some person young trying to arguing literal interpretations like... It's just baffling.

      For myself at least, the act of writing down my beliefs led to a more honest examination of said beliefs. The cascading result of crossing a line through the very first conviction I didn't actually hold was ultimately a complete re-examination of everything I thought I held true but clearly no longer did.
      I suspect it might be a good time to try this exercise again to take stock of my current beliefs, not only to reference where I once was but also to determine if I'm still on the same course I believe I am.

    My mother was a Catholic and my father was raised in a Christian household (though he is an atheist). I believed in god when I was young but then my mother died when i was 9, withering away in a hospital. When that happened I began questioning the existence of such an all powerful being as my mother was very devout, and I thought why didn’t this all powerful being save her? Why weren’t our prayers for her answered? My worldview was permanently changed after this, and anyone who told me it was “gods plan,” or “everything happens for a reason,” and even worse “she’s in a better place,” infuriated me.
    At that moment I became an atheist, and I’ve been happier ever since. I live my life as I so please as it’s the only one we get. Then I found George Carlin and Christopher Hitchens, who each solidified my position even more so! There never was a god, there have only ever been people trying to control their fellow men and women through fear. Socrates (if he existed) said it best “anyone who tells you what happens after death is either lying to you or a fool.” Even if it wasn’t Socrates who said it, the statement remains just as true.

    Funnily enough, that determination to draw such a hard, vast line between human beings and the rest of the animal kingdom which is so prevalent throughout Christianity, is actually the initial thing that got me questioning it as a kid. Like yeah, duh, of course there are tons of things that make us unique as a species. But using those differences to justify believing that animals don't have *any* worth or meaning at all is something that's always boggled my mind, especially as someone who has spent their entire life surrounded by animals who, despite our differences, have clearly all been individuals with their own personalities and feelings. And like you said, if this guy is right, then what was the point of God creating them in the first place?
    Also I don't care how great any afterlife might be - if it's only humans there and no animals then frankly that kinda sounds like hell lol
