I think Oogie's motives are simple...because it's fun. It's probably fun for him to play with lives.
yea thats what I thought too. I think it's unfair that just an unstated motive knocked him off the actual list. From the very first time I saw the movie and to this day I always figured his motives were just exactly as you said. It's fun. Nothing more, nothing less. When you have a truly sadistic guy like him, you need nothing more. And flat out stating it would be redundant.
I was thinking the same thing but I was more so looking towards his song as a clearly says he is the Boogeyman, he does all the same things as the other people in Halloween Town but not for the same reasons he doesn't literally to traumatize people because he sees it as his own way of fun. so he is more ignored than the others and has that lair of his.
Makes sense, since he seemed to really enjoy messing with Santa, was really close to dumping Santa and Sally in a pit of LAVA, and was actually very close to killing Jack (if he can die that is) numerous times.

In my opinion, that's more menacing, dark and villainous than some other motives. Actually, he even said in the song, "It's much more fun, I must confess, with lives on the line." I never fleshed this out into a full on fan theory, partly because it wouldn't hold much water. but just hypothetically even, I always imagined that if the residents of Halloween Town had ever been living humans, Oogie would have been a man with a severe gambling addiction and maybe even crime ties (having henchmen). And even if they weren't, he still seems to have some addiction with gambling, and so gambling with lives? that's has to be like an ultimate high or something.
And what was said about the games, I think die hard fans, which there are a fair amount of, may have at least heard of the games if not played them. I have heard of them and managed to acquire and play at least one, and I loved "Oogie's Revenge".

You mean from that made-for-TV movie? He was more there for the sake of having a slightly darker villain than they usually do in the cartoon. I personally thought he was just there for kid friendly comic book style subplots that would cause Phineas and ferb's inventions vanish before their mom sees them.

And also, i find that if you were to read the plot and who the people are and everything in Kingdom Hearts, it gets confusing. But if you play all the games, you get the progression of it, and it makes sense.

The "fight" between Mickey and Maleficent made me roll my eyes now that I look back at it.
The description reminds me of Carmen's Champion, a Christian song where Jesus is in a boxing match against Satan, and when Satan wins, God and Jesus *break the rules* to force a win.
I'll forego ranting about everything wrong with it, for now, because I'd be here all day. Also would probably go crazy.

have you watched Gravity Falls? Bill Cipher is the new awesome Disney-villain. he's the dream demon, who can invade people's minds and dreams and even control them. he's funny, but psychotic and scary when angry and his goal is to bring his demon pals from other dimension to our world. with his crazy laugh and twisted sense of humor he's pretty much like Joker. he also resembles traditional demons in the way he takes advantage from people's weaknesses, makes deals with them and then tricks them. he also has many freaky powers like manipulating reality and bringing people's fears to life, and it's hard to defeat him, because he's pure energy without a body.
another good villain from GF is Gideon Gleeful. he's a spoiled, psychotic brat, who is obsessed over Mabel and tries to rule Gravity Falls with the help of journals. of course, GF is full of many interesting and scary villains and monsters.

how about this for oogie boogies motivation, despite being the absolute scariest member of halloweentown he is an outcast from society for being too scary.
its easy to imagine he would be angry over his exclusion, and given how scary he is the reasonable choice for the leader of halloweentown, a position denied to him by jack skellington, combine these two factors and I can imagine a giant deformed bug man with a pretty massive grudge against jack and the town and a desire to prove himself as the absolute scariest, and the true face of halloween

Wow, Constance Hatchaway is the number one villain?! My favorite character from the Haunted Mansion?! That's new! I always loved this villain and you surely gave her the recognition she deserves.
If I was Sam or Dean from the CW's Supernatural I get out the salt rock shotgun, Samuel Cult that was made to kill all supernaturals and many other supernatural weapon in the trunk of the black 1967 Chevrolet impala and go over to that mansion and put an end to that ghost for good.

Did any else notice mirage was spying on frozone and only stumbled on mr incredible by accident. Syndrome was going for frozone and only found out mr incredible because he was sitting in a car with his best friend.
The thing with Xehanort is that he can easily go to the homes of all other villains and destroys them

Actually, couldn't Chernabog kill Constance? I mean, yeah, she's a ghost, but we see in his segment of "Fantasia" he can bring spirits back to life, and kill them again for his own pleasure. Not to mention he can shape beautiful things into ugly monsters.

Chernabog is pretty much the Disney equivilant for the devil. In fantasia2000, they even say the the mountain he lives on is the gathering place for satan and his followers
The thing about the Chernabog is that he can be warded off by church bells and Ave Maria. You can't say the same for any other villain.
Why the hell is he called chernabog? HE'S SATAN! Hearing people keep calling him Chernabog annoys me.

In Epic Mickey 2 they hinted to the Storm Blot, a creature that was supposed to be in the original game.

I always assumed oogie boogie was the opposite of the sandman, spreading nightmares instead of dreams.
As much as I liked your pick for number 1, I'm going to say that Xehanort still takes the real number 1 spot.
That dude puts most disney villains to shame in terms of how clever and powerful he is while still doing all he can to never underestimate his opponents.
That's not even the half of it. Xehanort's my number one for a slightly different reason. Technically, EVERY SINGLE BAD EVENT IN THE WHOLE SERIES can, directly or indirectly be TRACED BACK TO HIM. Given that Ansem (Heartless Ansem, not Ansem the wise) and Xemnas are also him in a way. Hey, he's one of my top villains EVER, and that includes characters like Xykon from Order of the Stick. You just can't get much more evil that Xehanort.
I know what kept him from 1, though. Exactly like AniMatt said, researching him was a chore. KH is very complicated where it doesn't need to be, stretching its plot to numerous ends and making it confusing and contrived, slowly becoming what FF is now. I'm not saying KH OR FF are terrible right now, I'm saying it needs to be simpler.

I was wondering where Boogie was... I IDOLIZE him for some reason... He's terrifying, but he makes me smile. He has a voice that sends chills down your spine but entrances you... I'm glad he was at least and honorable mention.

1. On the last time my family and I went to Disney World, I actually told my Mom to keep an eye on Dad when we entered the Haunted Mansion when it comes to the part in the attic.Unlike the other Haunted Mansion brides who were tragic and sympathetic figures (I guess), Constance is one who is truly evil.
To tell you the truth, I'm also actually terrified of Constance (especially with that axe in hand).

The music used for the number one pick (Davy jones theme) is more scary than it is sad, as it is meant to be sad in the movie.
Great list. My only complaint is that you marked down Oogie Boogie for not 'having a reason' for being evil, yet praised Constance Hatchaway for being a psychopath.

Isn't Constance's motivation greed? That's one more motive than Oogie has, or at least one that's made clear. Oogie is as unsubtle as they get, if he didn't expose what his reasoning is, it's because he simply doesn't have one and gets off on being bad. Constance seems to be more a sociopath since she seems devoid of any sense of morality when she was alive, and sees no value in the lives of her victims aside from padding her bank account. It's only after she dies that she kind of loses her previous motivation and simply kills for the sake of killing.
Psycopathy is a motivation in real life. And Constance at least had an origin story (it might had holes but it's more than what Oogie Boogie has). Besides, as someone else already commented, she had greed when she was sane.
He did explain her motive. In life she was a gold digger who killed her husbands and took their loot then she went insane after death and became a murdering spirit who'll pray on anyone. I dunno about you but if I heard of constance hatchaway without learning what company she was with or what she was part of I wouldn't think she was a Disney character, I'd think she'd be something straight out of fucking Halloween horror Nights!! 0_

With your question of Oogie Boogie's motives, I think the video game's motive could work. By trying to kill/ eat Santa, Oogie may be trying to regain enough inner power to try and conquer Halloweentown again, or it may be just an act of selfish, vindictive jealousy to destroy the most well- known and beloved holiday figure ever.
Another cool thing about Oogie not mentioned here is that his voice actor, Ken Page, was part of the original cast of 'Cats.'

The G-Wing Actually, it will happen. But, my guess is that they're gonna have to retire the older Master Xeahnort since both voice actors of his character are now dead. But, we still have Xemnas, Ansem (Xeahnort's Heartless), who are still alive and the young Master Xeahnort as well.
The most disturbing part of The Incredibles is when Bob is looking through the computer at all the heroes that we're killed by Syndrome's machines. Just watching the photos he goes through that tells how many the heroes had beaten before they were killed just bothered me.
11:10 he did mention that in the movie, he got rich by inventing weapons.

The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides, but I can see where you're coming from, Constance is a lot more sinister than the bride that used to be there in my opinion.

I'm quite surprised. Kingdom Hearts is an excellent game series. So many ppl complain its too complicated or whatever but I love it (favourite game series ever!) and I hate complex games (stick with Mario and Sonic). It's a definitely a series worth being a die-hard of. And it goes SO well with the Disney characters. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Definitely my number 1.
I really love these lists and I really appreciated you really did a lot of research on Xehanort being a fan myself! Plus I also learn a ton about things in Disney that I never knew before! Keep it up!

Bill Cipher only just debuted when this list was made. Although, I think if this list were made today, Bill would rank pretty high up there.

Shadow Bolt - Even though I never played Epic Mickey, he sure looks like a creepy and destructive villain. Plus, he feels like a cross between Phantom Blot, Oogie Boogie and Churnabog.
Master Xehanort - Know nothing about this guy, apart from him being a vey dark KH villain and being voiced by the late and talented Leonard Nimoy. Plus, like some of the other games mentioned prior, inly played some of Kingdom Hearts. Number 2, to be precise.
Oogie Boogie - A dirty, rotten cheater who has a fun singing voice.
Constance - She sounds definitely disturbing and spooky.
Okay, the final montage set to Mulan soundtrack music was *brilliant* Applause all around.

I agree with all the villians on this list, but I feel that Xehanort and Syndrome Should be switched. Xehanort alone was willing to ruin multiple lives, control multiple people, destroy whole worlds, and more, just to reach his goal. Syndrome is just killing heros who have the power and wits to protect themselves, and make everyone else feel special, and not feel special at the same time by giving everyone power giving devices. I don't know about you, but I think the thought of whole worlds being wiped out is bigger than killing a few supers alone.
