I can't tell you how refreshing it is to hear someone actually call the Primitive Sponge meme the correct name, for years I've heard so many people refer to him as Spongegar who is of course a completely different character
When Spongebob Squarepants back then held back from making their animation top quality that’s what helped the show to become one of the best animated tv comedies you see the biggest problem with the show nowadays is that they’re too often dependent on the animation to deliver the humor the focus would be put so much onto developing a wacky style or an erratic tone where it can end up feeling like the show is just reusing the same type of visual gags and slapstick moments and they up quickly feeling dull and repetitive in fact they could sometimes try so hard to create a crazy style that if often spoils the comedy by overshadowing it instead of helping it not to mention that it heavily limits the others to put their contribution leaving the actors to just being loud and obnoxious and writers to just think up of dumb one-liners and pop culture references
Like I said before the problem with the show nowadays is that they always try to sacrifice their quality of storytelling in favour of gaining their quantity of humor which often backfires because it results in the show to have a bland and boring story in each new episode with comedy that’s at best hit and miss
