Yep, saw them in concert 5 times with Steve…saw THIS concert..and for real, he sounded like this in person. He was unparalleled live. His voice can’t be compared!!
Everything about Perry is magical. His beauty, depth, range and talent are astonishing. He's one individual that I would absolutely lose my shit over if I ever had the opportunity to personally thank him for what he's given me.
@@thefammMr. Perry is a good man who appreciates his fans. He will always give autographs if the fan asks nicely, and some times photobombs people taking their pictures at the Journey star on the walk of fame. He is very generous to charities. Last year he used an account he keeps for making announcements to his fan club to give a shoutout to a new singer who had beat his record for selling out a particular venue. One of the fans copied the post to TH-cam shorts and it freaked people out who forget he is 74 now. th-cam.com/users/shortsCXtBAAlT-Es
Nice reaction. Yes, I lived the 80's back then and Journey was huge and filled stadiums. Steve Perry had one of the most epic voices of all time. You called it.
Everybody that reacts to this video comments on the amount of people at the show. Back in those days America had a much larger population of young people that where all into the same music so it was not uncommon to see 100,000 people show up to see a popular band. When I went to the US Festival in 1983 there was over 250,000 people there.
I was actually at that concert in '83. JFK stadium in Philly...there were 100k plus people there. He was in his prime and sounded unbelievable. That particular video was the official video but that was not the actual soundtrack. They do have the live version on line. IMHO, one of the greatest voices ever
In 1979 I went to a Journey concert with paid seating. By the third song I was expecting the audience to sit in their chairs, but the people in front of me stayed standing. They wouldn’t sit down! I had such a pissed look on my face that I was noticed by the lead singer Steve Perry. He saw my unhappy face and with his own fingers on his own face made a grin. That was such a shock to me…….. that I did grin. And have remembered that instant forever.
love steve perry saw them 1980 louisville ky only rock concert i ever saw, open arms, live in houston, still they ride live in tokyo and if you do a concert make it live in houston....
Hey... I'm a little late to the party 🥳.. but, just watched this reaction, And while I'm about to date myself, the cool part is I can say I saw Journey 3 times back in their prime with Steve Perry, when tickets were like $12 , still remember because his voice was so perfect everytime & the band was so tight that they sounded just like the studio recordings 😳 So shockingly good I'll never forget it, especially since it was the 1st band I'd ever seen & heard pull off such a feat to that degree 💁♂️ Still one of my favorite songs by them.. love the groove and drums by Steve "Machine-Gun" Smith 😁
I saw this very Frontiers Tour in 1983. I was 15 years old at the time and Journey was and is my favorite band. They are truly amazing. There was not a stadium they could not sell out. Steve Perry is truly “the voice”. My favorite Journey album is Infinity from 1978. Escape from 1981 went to number 1. The concert from Live in Houston 1981 is their best live concert. I think you will NOT be disappointed checking this incredible band out. Journey On.
Steve Perry is matched by no one for sure, Jimi Jamison and Lou Gramm are as close as you can Get. But you can't forget about Neal Schon either. In my opinion the greatest guitarist on the Planet. The only one who comes close to him is Steve Lukather. Everyone in Journey back then was the pinnacle of their craft.
Steve Perry has stunningly beautiful vocals. A range that will blow your mind. If you go down this rabbit hole every song will reach you to your very core, his voice to your soul. Every album is a gift to those lucky enough to have discovered what journey fans have known since the 70's and 80's that Journey with this line up is in comparable and why Steve Perry is known as "The Voice". Your audience will tell you that they sound better live than their studio versions...believe it. Listen to your audience, they'll tell you everything you need to know about Journey with Steve Perry. Album suggestion Journey Greatest Hits I with the bonus tracts. I'm a new subscriber
I saw them live in 1986 when I was in the Army stationed at Fort Dix New Jersey. They played at The Spectrum in Philly. They are the absolute best live band ever!! The concert was phenomenal. Steve Perry is THE VOICE
All these guys in Sacramento California 1978 for $12 still got the ticket best-in-show oh my God it was outside in the daytime and they brought out sounded so good better than the record unbelievable
I went to this tour’s concert outside Chicago in 6/11/83. The vocals were as incredible as you hear them on these clips, and I always remembered that big fire engine red piano. If I could go back in time and go to any of the concerts I attended with the original members, Journey would be #1. That’s saying a lot considering I’ve seen so many, but Journey was just on another level
In order to get a full appreciation for who Journey is, may I suggest you do each song from the Live Houston concert 1981. It includes hits from the first 4 albums that include Steve Perry. Then you could do the other hits not included in this concert, and from later albums, by going to Journey's Greatest hits volume's 1 and 2. This song was from 1983 off the Frontiers album. I was 19 at the time and I saw them on this tour in New Orleans City Park Stadium. Still one of the best concerts I've ever been to. A full day of Rock and Roll featuring Bryan Adams, Zebra, Foghat and Journey. We got busted by the cops trying to sneak a case of beer in by throwing it over the fence. They made us open each can and pour it out in front of them. It ended up raining most of the day and we were drenched by the time Journey got on stage. But it did not matter. I ended up climbing on top of a port o john just to the right of the stage and watched the concert from there. It was awesome. As good as the studio sounds, they sound as good if not better live. I saw them twice again in 1986 for the Raised on Radio tour. Thanks and God bless.
Its like they had me in mind when writing this song..... the love of my life lost because of immaturity. This song follows my experience and how I feel to a T! Funny thing is, in the official video of this song, the girl in the crowd at 2:18.... looks like her. To Anne; you will forever hold a piece of my heart..... sending you my love.
@@thefamm Thanks! She really liked 3 songs off the top of my head and you can choose one or all if you want (for your channel I mean, not just for Anne or myself). I don't see them done by very many either! These are outside of Journey cause, like me, Journey was her favorite! Anyway, here they are: - "I'll Still Be Loving You" by Restless Heart (song was us and if I hadn't been such a fool would still be us) She also liked: - "Waiting For A Star To Fall" by Boy Meets Girl - "I'll Be Over You" by Toto There are SOOOOOOO many songs I could give you to do my friend, THAT I PROMISE, would help your channel and many of them aren't even out there yet (or very much)! Journeys Greatest Hits Album. Love love your reactions!!!! Journey has tons of great hits that you will fall in love with. His voice is like no other. They call Steve Perry the voice.
Yes, he is the GOAT. He made it look effortless, and this is coming from a lead vocalist with 40 years of experience. I'll take him over any other male vocalist. Keep going my friend, great job.
I went to a live Journey concert in 1980 in Detroit for my 16th birthday when they recorded their live album Captured. It was amazing!! I will never forget it.
I have been grateful all these years to have seen Classic Journey. My first concert was this tour 1983, it was for the Frontiers album. The next was the Raised On Radio tour 1986.
