    Started in 1973 blocking out cars. Retired in 2017 as a collision repair/refinishing vocational teacher for 20 years. You have mastered the technique and would make an excellent teacher. I always wanted the collision repair industry to unionize. Insurance companies have kept wages low compared to mechanics or other similar trades. The knowledge required to do what you have demonstrated is quite high. What is the labor rate that insurance pays where you are TriggerMan? In upstate NY ours was around 52.00 per hour.

      Thank you Sir! I really appreciate that man. Means a whole lot coming from an actual vocational school instructor/teacher who's actually taught guys this trade. Currently the rate is $48 per hour And I believe it's $90 for mechanical.
      Thank you for chiming in and welcome to the channel ♥️

      I was fresh out of HS in 1988, wanted to be a mechanic but couldn't justify paying the Snap-On bill. Bought a few nice guns, worked at a body shop for 3 months after vocational school post HS. Got treated worse than a four legged animal in a slaughter house. 😅 Stuck with it for myself and now have a few hundred jobs under my belt. Learned more from TH-cam from guys like Trig than school or trial and error combined. 💥👍🏼

      Hallo dom Poland. The hour of varnishman in the USA is similar to Polish, although the GDP per capita in the USA is twice as big! Mechanics in PL earn like painters and there are queues for both. Why? Because in Europe, studies are free and almost everyone has a master's degree, and no one wants to do manual labor.

    Long time watcher new subscriber. I got into the trade at 16 years old in 2005. Worked for an old school boss at busy commission shop mostly insurance work. Worked hard learned the trade and was the lead painter at 19 years old. Continuded to work hard and learn as much as I can. Shop went out of business during Covid and at 35 years old I find myself working in a shop very similar to yours. Thank you so much for showing the real world of our trade, no fancy booths, no down draft booths just real world body shop work. Being good in both situations comes from a solid foundation of the trade obviously you have that. If you can paint in one shop you can paint in any shop. Thanks for keeping it real and showing the real side of our trade. Peace from cali.

      Thank you Willie, I really appreciate that. The crazy thing is I wanted to start a channel like 8 years ago but because this place was so outdated I thought people wouldn't take me serious but it it turns out to be the complete opposite the channel is more relatable to the average guy than I thought this is the real world of this trade. I kick my self in the ass every day for not following my heart and starting the channel 8 years ago. But everything is on GOD's time. And now is my time. So with GOD and all of you guys the channel will grow just like it's doing. And I'm so grateful 🙏🏼

    I started painting cars in 1987 and the first car I did was my Dad's car. It turned out pretty amazing for someone who never learned at an institute.
    I picked up a "how to spray paint and panel beat " book, read it from cover to cover then went to work. I did it mostly as a hobby for around 12 years then stopped but I'm about to get back into it after a long hiatus to restore my first car I bought way back in 1991.

    Damn 8555 sprayed countless gallons of that. She looks slick! I’m with you been using my lph’s for over 10 years. They’re my workhorses. Even got a couple new in the box for back up. Even use one for primer. Got lph 80 for tiny touch ups. I just love em. Honestly I’ve been spraying clear for a while with the orange cap. Leaves a nice factory look. Every once in a blue moon I’ll bust out my gti millenium for nostalgia lol. Was the first “real” gun I ever bought. Damn a full respray on a crew cab truck…and black at that. All for some sings and dents. Man I hate jobs like that. That wore me out just watching you do it lol. I’d rather do a heavy hit in one spot any day. Not gonna lie though, for a full respray on a truck I might’ve busted out my Sagola 4600 1.3xl and knocked her out quick like. Love my lph’s but that’s a lot of real estate. But that ANI looked good. Good job 💪🏼

I still think that’s the best way for 2 reasons . Ya always know where the hose is and it doesn’t get caught up on the tires and it’s away from the vehicle and 2 by not stoooing to adjust you just keep move n along ya make a lot less mistakes and more of an even job . Pro painter here, about that run on the hood. i noticed you have a habit of stalling near your edges on the hood and going faster in the middle. Switch those two around faster on edges slower in the middle. It will keep the middle of hood nice and flat and smooth and help minimize build and chances for runs on edges. The key is extending over the edge with material if your getting thinner paint on the edges.
    Do what Jon Kosmoski says. "I am a robot, i will be as consistenrnt and efficient as possible."
    Start from the bottom of one side of the truck walk the length. Move to hood start oneside and work passes all the way to the other then top back down working your way to the tail gate and then back again. Starting and ending on rear passenger side.
    Should help you get a nice consistent finish concentrate on the best way to maintain a consistent wet edge

    Congratulations 🔥🔥🔥 you're on fire👏🏽,what i want to know bro is if you sprayed the inside n how you blocked it off from fumes I have a truck to paint as well but I was studying to do it in parts,hood n door jambs, then outside but cab then tray as i don't have much space,plus i was thinking of removing the tray to get it the back as it's a colour change from white to blue but don't want all that work 😢 ,much love from Trini bwoy 🇹🇹

      When doing it that way I like to take everything off the car. Doors,hood trunk. Take it apart paint it then put back together.

    That is some clean ass paint Trig. Wouldn't a dual hose setup work, one for each side?

    • @thetriggerman954
      @thetriggerman954  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks man. And of course it would work 🤷🏼‍♂️ but I'm so use to one hose if most likely drag the one hose right by the other hose and forget it there 😄

    If it's in there I'll see it, been painting cars since the mid 70's! Not much I haven't seen before! I can tell 30 pounds from 70 pounds of pressure at the head of the gun! Pay attention to the sound and look how wide your pattern is and the thickness of you metal coming out!

    Another beautiful job, Trig. Your prep work is as impeccable as possible and it shows.
    So, is everything air dried or are you using IR?

      Thank you Dave I appreciate it brother. Yes everything is air dried No heat, bake, infrared nothing. Just as simple and as old school as it gets.

    Nice job Triggerman. This is my first time seeing you and I liked the commentary part you do throughout the video. So, I ("liked the video and subscribed") all at once, it was that good. Trigger, your spray pattern is different; however, the results are spectacular!!!

    Nice work triggerman. I had to whip out my LPH and play with it after watching😁 Do you spray at 26psi to atomize your clear right or is it for speed? Reason I ask is Iwata specs it at 15-16psi and Ive talked to people that spray around that and others alot higher. I sprayed my clear at 18psi and it atomizes really good but its a low solids thin clear. If i crank it up around 25psi the fan gets bigger. Same atomization just bigger with more overspray. I have the 1.3mm tip and silver cap.

    • @thetriggerman954
      @thetriggerman954  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you Marc appreciate it man. Yes the gun does atomize at lower PSI but that's not Max.there is atomization then there's optimal atomization depends on the materials with low solid clear coats I spray around 19 psi. This AM-Tech clear coat here I use is higher solids than the 4:1 so I up it a little. There are guys I know that spray it around 30 psi. I never have there are guys I know that do. So you just have to play with it and even Then it changes when you change material.

    Outstanding!!! Any tips on finding a good paint job without having to take out a 2nd mortgage? I have a 2003 Camry, white, that needs the hood repainted. Local shop wanted $900.0£. Too high for my fixed income. Any tips at all?

      Maybe check Craigslist or OfferUp see if smaller shop is advertising. Smaller guys need the money and can do the same work for less
