Hey everyone! Hope you enjoyed the video! If you want more 3DS Hidden Gems, here's a video I made about some amazing eShop games you should check out before it's too late! th-cam.com/video/2eIYuiSl4-o/w-d-xo.html Also, as promised, here's a link to get Andro Dunos 2 on the 3DS! There's still a few copies left! www.pixelheart.eu/en/produit/andro-dunos-2-3ds-eur/ Also, if you want to chat with fellow retro gamers between my videos, come and join my discord! discord.gg/Ms6dpsYNuz
You certainly made a solid case for Umihara Kawase and when I saw your retrospective on it I made it my mission to give the game a fair shake. Now I'm a fan and I'm so thankful to have been introduced to this gem. Anyone who is on the fence, please give it a go! the Bazooka game is a surprisingly well rounded party title and "Fresh" is simply a must-own Switch title. Can't thank enough for this introduction. P.S. I REALLY appreciate your script writing. There's so many aspects that I enjoy but I have to shout out specifically my appreciation for the work you do around describing game mechanics and the experience a game brings to the table. This really got hammered home for me the other day when some of your content began to autoplay on my mobile but the screen was off. Hearing your descriptions without the video demonstrated how skillfully you were representing the software experience with words alone.
So glad I helped you get into the Umihara series! And that’s fantastic, I didn’t intentionally make it easy to understand without watching so that’s great to know haha!
9:55 The Switch does have "RPG Maker MV", even on sale right now in Europe's eshop! =D I just saw that they even have a *_free_* "RPG Maker MV Player" which cannot be used for creation, but gives you the ability to play (all of?) the games made with it! =) For someone who's more of a programmer "SmileBASIC 4" is also a great tool to make games or applications on the Switch! =D
I’m REALLY happy you acknowledged Dream Trigger 3D, I LOVE this game! I know the premise sounds confusing but once you get into it, it’s a very unique, shmup with fun gameplay that stands out from all other shmup games! It’s got great trippy visuals that takes full effect of the 3D slider, amazing music and fun, challenging unique gameplay! I’m glad other people are staring to talk about this game now!
loving your channel! getting a custom 3DS was one of the things that really launched me back into gaming, especially the retro and handheld world. keep it up!
Epic mickey: Power of illusion, is actually an omage to the mickey illusion series from sega, everygame is named "something" of illusion. The whole series is quite good actually, but my problem with this game is actually the gimmick about painting stuff with the stylus, it is just a complete pace breaker, needing to stop everything at certain times to do a simplistic minigame. In terms of rpgs, I would say play dragon quest 7 or 8, both are great and arguably the definitive versions of each game, specially in the case of 7. And I don't know if they are considered hidden gems but Ever Oasis is an awesome action RPG and I was surprised by the quality of Dillon's Dead-Heat breakers, which was released physically exclusively in europe.
Awesome games. Nice to see Dream trigger 3D get some attention :). The 3DS is easily my favorite Handheld of all time. One of my largest collections as well. Just over 300 titles lol. Ranging from AAA. To underrated. To obscure releases. Another top 10 hidden gems I highly reccomend. 1 - murder mysteries Jack the ripper 2 - Dire Grove 3 - Viking invasion 2 4 - navy commander 5 - 4 elements 5 - Sherlock Holmes mystery of the frozen city 6 - Goosebumps 7 - Frogger 3D 8 - Rabbids 3D 9 - secret mysteries in London 10 - popolocrois. A story of seasons fairy tale (NTSC import). Numbers 3 and 4 only got a physical release throughout Europe but not the UK oddly enough. That made me want it more lol..
Omg Stella Glow. Seriously guys and gals, do yourselves a favor and play it if you haven't. It's one of my favorite games ever, seriously. The story is so good, the music is soo good and the gameplay is very solid, too. LOVE it.
RPG maker trinity is on the Switch, and there’s a free player version of it too. It’s almost the same as the desktop version of rpg maker MV, but no ability to use custom assets or export. If you liked Fes it’s the same sort of gameplay.
I found this channel cause of the video before this one, been on a binge of the channel ever since, you honestly deserve more views and stuff than you get, I'll be back every week!
Andro Dunos II is amazing on the 3DS! It looks great in 3D, and is a lot of fun to play. I went into playing it blind (so didn't know about all the issues, stretching, framerate, etc) and had a great time. Sometimes you gotta experience it yourself and don't rely on what others think. Loved the game so much, decided to order it for the Switch, and still prefer the 3DS version better. It just feels great on the system, and the 3D makes it the definitive version for me. Really wish they made more SHMUPS on the 3DS. They would've been great (Steel Empire is awesome too! Wish there was a physical version). Also wish they did a coop SHMUP you could play via local wireless. Also agree on Shinboi, love that game on the system! Great video! Keep up the awesome content!
That’s true! If it’s something you think you’d be interested in, don’t worry about what other think and come up with your own opinions! :) I do love the 3D effect, apart from that one level where the building are on the wrong layers
For me, Shin Megami Tensei IV and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse are two of the best JRPGs ever made. Really good, fun and challenging combat, great story and characters. If you like JRPGs you have to check them out. SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked and it's sequel SMT: Devil Survivor 2 - Record Breaker are fantastic SRPGs with a great story and very fun combat. SMT Soul Hackers is a port of an old Sega Saturn JRPG. A Shin Megami Tensei game in a cyberpunk setting. It has some unnecessary convoluted gameplay mechanics but is overall still a great game with a good story. I enjoyed it. At the moment I am finally playing SMT: Strange Journey Redux, which I already really like. It has a intriguing story from the start and typical fun Shin Megami Tensei combat and dungeon crawling goodness. Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology is a fantastic time-travel JRPGs, with fun combat a really good story and great characters. In fact the main protagonist Stocke, is one of my all-time favorite JRPG characters. Definitely try this one out. For more Dungeon Crawling check out the Etrian Odyssey series an it's two Persona Spin-Offs Persona Q 1+2. For a crazy SRPG-Crossover series with lots of characters from different franchises check out Project X Zone 1+2.
I didn't expect anyone to ever even mention Shinobi 3D. While it's from a well-known franchise... it's a very unknown games. I think there's quite a few Shinobi fans out there that haven't heard of it... and most who have, haven't played it because they were chased away by the 'average' and 'mediocre' reviews from professionals (which is kinda dumb since they are wrong about games all the time... especially games that follow their own path instead of the trend). And yeah, I agree it's a fully fledged Shinobi game. The graphics aren't that good even for the 3DS and for when it came out... but the game plays extremely well. Especially the parry mechanic can be a lot of fun to use since you can jump again in the air after using it. It's a shame almost no one played it.
Hello mate, cheers for the fun videos. Just thought I’d say RPG Maker MV is on the Switch eShop, I saw it by chance the other day - no idea if it’s any good though.
I’ve had it for ages, got it with a bunch of games when GAME was clearing out their 3DS stock, but I’ve not tried it yet… will give it a go soon and let you know what I think! :)
an rpg series I think you should definitely check out: Etrian Odyssey and the Persona Q games, a crossover of EO and Persona. DS and 3DS were so popular that they got so many overlooked games...
I know it's a bit late but, definitely go give it a try to Labyrinth no Kanata (Beyond the Labyrinth) By Konami / Level-5/ Tri-Ace. It's such good love letter to the dungeon crawler genre, it's sad that was never released outside of Japan but thankfully a great fan-translation made possible to enjoy it in English!
Nice collection you have there I would recommend project x zone it's a cross up game featuring capcom , namco and sega characters in one rpg game I also prefer the combat system it's fast and cinematic hope you like this one but the story is not all that interesting there's also a sequel to the game called project x zone 2.
Cex is like cash converters and they sometimes print their own game covers, hence CEX cover. But they don’t tell you on the website that it’s reprinted :(
Great collection of 3ds games how many do you have in total I just broke the 150 mark and still waiting for a gameboy collection update. I am going for a full gameboy color library and have over 550 games.
Man Shinobi is between 50-100 dollars on Amazon 😭😂 I barely got a new 3ds xl last year so I’ve been watching videos like this all the time, are there any good arcade collections on the 3ds?

Erm. The Switch has RPG Maker MV!
Just saying. ^^
Plus the Switch has FUZE4Switch which is a BASIC language based tool kit to program games on Switch.
And the Switch also has Smile BASIC. ^^
Uhh do you not know what metroidvania games are? Because that 4th game sounds like a metroidvania
Epic Mickey looks like a hidden gem!
The DS and 3DS are such fun systems to collect for.

I like how you display the game covers for each episode
Loving the 3DS content! Keep them coming please part 2
I’m planning one but need to track down more interesting games first!
9:55 The Switch does have "RPG Maker MV", even on sale right now in Europe's eshop! =D

Started bingeing your content this week and am really enjoying it! Subscribed!
Love seeing 3DS content, especially with the eShop closing and all. Some really neat hidden gems in this one! Always look forward to your uploads!

no one talks about Ever Oasis.
such a unique & engaging action rpg.
some very cool mechanics, and its just plain fun. dont sleep on this one.
Omg Stella Glow. Seriously guys and gals, do yourselves a favor and play it if you haven't. It's one of my favorite games ever, seriously. The story is so good, the music is soo good and the gameplay is very solid, too. LOVE it.
I was listening to this one 2x, and the convoluted explanation of Dream Trigger was so funny to me
I really admire the fact that you really find some hidden gems. Great video!
RPG maker trinity is on the Switch, and there’s a free player version of it too. It’s almost the same as the desktop version of rpg maker MV, but no ability to use custom assets or export. If you liked Fes it’s the same sort of gameplay.
Oh man, now I’m regretting not having picked up Andro Dunos 2 at PAX West last weekend. Great round-up of games!
Props to the only person i saw mentioning Dream Trigger, which is a really wacky game until you understand what the heck is going on
7th dragons code VFD is a real hidden gem❤️
thank you for all the great content, I'm finding a lot of gems I've overlooked over the years that certainly deserve a play-through. Cheers!
I love your setup! The background is fantastic!
Excellent video! Just bought Andro Dunos the other day actually the swan song to the PAL library... Maybe
Loved dream trigger. Very tough to get used to but once you get it its super satisfying
Great video & channel, subscribed. You are fit also
Thank you for that video and putting 7th Dragon on it.
I never before heard of it, bought it in the meantime and glad I did. ❤
So useful. Im only just starting to build out my collection. From scratch for most consoles so this is so useful for me
I found this channel cause of the video before this one, been on a binge of the channel ever since, you honestly deserve more views and stuff than you get, I'll be back every week!

The 3DS library is incredible. Starting to collect for it now. Yubi yubi!

@@RetroBreak definitely new super mario bros 2, project mirai dx, and Kirby planet robobot
Good list.

I really enjoyed LBX (Little Battlers Experience) on the 3DS and feel it's not talked about very much. I'm curious if you've played it!
I’ve had it for ages, got it with a bunch of games when GAME was clearing out their 3DS stock, but I’ve not tried it yet… will give it a go soon and let you know what I think! :)
Chibi Robo Zip Lash doesn't deserve a shelf spot!
True… what a disappointment!
an rpg series I think you should definitely check out: Etrian Odyssey and the Persona Q games, a crossover of EO and Persona. DS and 3DS were so popular that they got so many overlooked games...
Final Fantasy Explorers is neat also.
You can get rpg maker on switch, physical too!
I had no idea! Might give it a try! :D
Your explanation of the Game 5 gave me a headache.
haha I just listened to it back and have no idea what I'm on about! XD
project mirai is amazing. there is a ton of content there
A game series isn't equivalent to a game franchise, fyi.
I know it's a bit late but, definitely go give it a try to Labyrinth no Kanata (Beyond the Labyrinth) By Konami / Level-5/ Tri-Ace. how long can you get stuck on a train for lost to busan ? atleast you got 100 games for ur 3ds to play while your bored.

Did you look at Shifting World for the 3ds?
Yes I was going to add it in this video, played it and recorded footage but honestly found it a bit boring
Living in America, what is CEX? or "Kex cover" as it sounded?
Cex is like cash converters and they sometimes print their own game covers, hence CEX cover. But they don’t tell you on the website that it’s reprinted :(
I never understood Dream Trigger...still don't. But love that some people swear by it. 🖤🖤🖤
It’s definitely an acquired taste! It’s so different to anything else I’ve ever played!

Wait... RPG Maker is on the switch.
I had no idea! I’ll definitely have to check it out, does it also have the free eshop app to play other peoples creations?
Yes it has.
@@RetroBreak Yup.
Mega man shirt? Automatic like
game 5 sheeeesh
Stella Glow is about 4 quid on the eshop at the moment
I know! Hope it introduces a lot of people to the game! I’ve been playing it more since I made this video and still loving it!
Man Shinobi is between 50-100 dollars on Amazon 😭😂 I barely got a new 3ds xl last year so I’ve been watching videos like this all the time, are there any good arcade collections on the 3ds?
Sega did the best compilations on 3DS and they also use the 3D feature really well too!
Dragon ball fusions counts as a rpg i think
6:30 huh…?!? Lol. I actually own Dream Trigger and have never gotten past 30 seconds of play. Too confusing
Play more Tales of the Abyss, the guy gets less annoying along the way.
These are true hidden gems, not random game #1
Shout out frogger 3d
It’s on my list to get! Looks way better than it has any right to be haha
8:30

All are garbage. Only Shinobi and Androdunos II are quality games.
