I have played with PSX quite a bit and have got pretty much everything to play at full speed but fiddling is required. 1. Use Retroarch version 1.16.0 2. Set audio output to dsp-threaded 3. Once in game go to core settings and set Threaded Rendering to Asynchronous 4. In GPU Plugin make sure all are switched on 5. In Audio make sure all but CD audio and XA decoding are switched off That are all the settings I have found that make any noticeable improvement.
Dude, thank you so much for this video! This morning I randomly decided to revive my modded old 3DSXL that I haven't touched since 2017 and turn it into a NDS, 3DS and retro Nintendo emulation device and this video is perfect! My goal is to create a hybrid device that offers the most authentic NDS/3DS experience possible with some of the features of the retro handheld gaming devices that have exploded in popularity in the last few years, however, the last time I messed with 3DS modding there wasn't a reliable way to run NDS ROMs without a flashcart so something like this wasn't possible. I have a Steam Deck that's capable of more comprehensive emulation but this will hopefully breathe some life into this old device that I used to really love. I had a similar set up with my DS lite in high school and used it as my main gaming system for NES, SNES, Game Boy/Color and NDS games (couldn't run GBA for some reason) for almost 10 years.
Also, i know this is technically not an emulator, but there's an EasyRPG port for the 3ds! Great for playing games like Yume Nikki, old Oneshot, and other cool stuff that was made in RPG Maker 2000/2003
Now, someone needs to make a gamecube emulator for 3ds and see if they can find any games that don't crash in the first minute Edit: YES, I KNOW, IT WOULDN'T WORK WELL, or even barely at all. THAT'S NOT THE POINT. And I mean NEW 3ds ofc.
i imagine it wouldn't run very well. the original 3ds cpu is weaker than the gamecube's and the new 3ds's cpu while more powerful than a gamecube's will still have to add on the cost of resources for emulating the system in the first place since emulation is typically very cpu intensive
ya'll don't seem to quite understand. I mean more as a technical possibility, not something to play on. The NEW 3ds is only slightly more powerful than the gamecube, it would not be able to run a gamecube emulation at all in a playable way, it would just be cool to see how well it could be done, if it could even be made not to crash essentially instantly.
Banger of a video, you definitely deserve more subs, this must of taken a ton of work. Might I suggest non-emulated games, such as standalone ports like doom for another video topic?
Thanks, I really appreciate your words! It’s funny you suggest that because it’s partially in the works. I wasn't sure whether people would watch it, so I made the GTA III & VC video to test the waters. Doom is definitely on the list, along with Half-Life, Fallout and others! It's good to hear there's already someone who would find it interesting 😁
Why aren't people modding the vita. A little bit of work and they could probably get gamecube on it, but people only care about the extremely underpowered 3ds instead
Surprisingly, besides PSP and Android games, there aren’t that many more emulators for the PS Vita as for the 3DS. It does still make for a nice video idea for in the future, thanks :)
• Strangely, Anbernic seems to have cracked the code on Saturn emulation (whatever emulator is used on the Arc-S/Arc-D seems to have pretty good compatimability). • Also, there's an apparently unofficial port of Yabause made for Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, & Switch called Yaba Sanshiro 2...too bad this version wasn't backported to the 3DS. • Doom? Probably could've went with the Snes or PSone versions there. 😏
I get some bars on the bottom of the screen for the gba games, its like if they replicated the same screen but you can only see the top of that screen and it's very annoying, i don't know what i can do to get rid of that bar.
The problem for me is that Phones are getting much more powerful to the point where you can just play 3DS games at a higher resolution. Couple that with a folding phone and you basically have a 3DS. I still perfer playing on actual hardware, but if it's like an RPG or something less input intensive I'd rather play on my phone.
I bought the joycon grip thing to attach joycons to my phone in both portrait and landscape. It’s even very solid both ways. Then I discovered facebook marketplace, traded a bunch of Wii U and DS games for an OLED switch, and now I’m back to playing games on the switch. 🤷🏻♂️
Screen quality and low performance just kills emulation on 3DS for me. Except Virtual Boy for obvious reasons. Still I love some homebrew ports for 3D effect.
@alex.g7317 😑 wtf, that's not an issue, if you don't want to subscribe just don't do it. @smallthoughts_nl I don't think it's an issue for most of us.

Duckstation is pretty good now and there's scaling options now that make it look incredible. Gran Turismo 2 looks amazing on there.
@@johnphillips4783 I must claim ignorance on how to get the duckstation core on the 3DS, I'd be interested to play around with it.
This is the best emulator test (also guide) on the 3DS ever!

MGBA's motion sensor support also works for Kirby's Tilt and Tumble on GBC

Amazing video, very underrated channel!
Super informative video and great editing. Keep up the good work!!!
18:05 DOS stuck around longer than you’d think. I recall playing a Spot the Dog game on Windows Me as a very young child, im only 20.

@@CrashFan03maybe possible for lo end gc games with something like nce compatibly layer. And it would be terribly slow even with that .
I feel like Dreamcast emulation would be easier to do. Even then the cpu must add on the cost of resources

OG 3DS can't even run PS1/N64, and even 'New' consoles are problematic with them.
Woah, nica video! Subscribed! Please do for the switch next 💪
I still dont know how they got n64 and ps1 games working on this thing
Those games weren't that difficult to emulate nowadays. The real challenge however would be the PSP.
Most N64 don’t work well

Vita is eaay to hack
Because the vita didn’t sell as well as the 3ds so fewer people have one.
Most of the progress on vita is porting android games, and decomp projects! Its actually a lot of cool work
Crazy how people think of the 3DS as a success and the PSP as something of a failure when the latter actually sold more.
The PSP wasn't a failure. The PSVita was. Mostly due to it's costy nature cause of it's much more powerful hardware.
Well, I can think of dozens of 3ds games that are amazing and only a few on the PSP.
@Dinosaursof Sounds like you're a big fan of Nintendo games and/or RPG's. The 3DS library is fairly weak in most other genres.
omg the SNES classic music, truly amazing
Man, I regret selling my 3DS so much, but it's too pricy now to buy another one.

No buttons is trash.
@trashtrash2169 said the trash expert, can't argue with that.
@@randonologic4684 Damn right.

12:41 loool
that is indeed a crash lol.
My N3ds just came in and this helped me a lot!
20:10 It's a shame Nintendo never did this officially on 3DS. It would have been a helluva novelty
Twisted metal works well enough on new 3ds, also have no problems playing off the homescreen .
thumbnails be like: 3DS IS AN EMULATION BEAST!!!111!11 🤪🤑😱
Really great video, I love the 3DS and it's my fav handheld.
also what's the music at 11:54?
Thanks a lot! The 3DS rules
Funny how emulation for psx literally improved these past year or two.
I have a o3ds, and i have to say using nsui especially, snes games do work fine
but yeah snes9x sucks on it
Omg MTT
Do you think it matters whether your display is IPS or TN on the 3ds when playing emulators?
I'm not too familiar with the differences between IPS and TN displays, but they shouldn’t impact the performance regardless
@smallthoughts_nl thanks! Echt een hele goede complete video, ga zo door!
Fijn om te horen, dankjewel 😁
I hope someone makes a good Java emulator in the future.
Did you seriously show the same Subscribe graphic three times in one video?
Yes, it’s a bit much. I realized that after the video went live. I'm toning it down in the future, thanks for the feedback!
@ lol, it’s okay. Thanks 👍 good vid btw
Honestly, it’s a 23 minute video. I’m sure he wants subs, 3 times isn’t much by comparison
@ oh okay lols

How dos game cant run smooth on it
Does this work with the 2DS
If you have a New 2DS, it should work like a New 3DS. If you have the 2DS that doesn’t fold, then it's an old 3DS.
3ds was awesome
The music is too loud.
In general or in a specific part?
use standalone mGBA
Clean your deck
