i never grew up with "tv" consoles, but i remember back in kindergarden/elementary i was fascinated with GBAs other kids would have, and then i got my own ds when it came out (and later a 3ds). handheld has such an alluring charme to it that when i downloaded one game as a ROM and ended up really enjoying it, i went and bought it just to experience it in that handheld mode. your videos have some intriguing picks with a lot of games i've never even heard of, as the ds game market has always felt nebulous and overwhelming at the same time to me.

I am only about 20% through the game so far but holy cow, what a fantastic game. The core game is wonderful, but for me, it's the extras that make it just over the top. So far I've only unlocked about 1/2 of the extras but Strato Patrol EOS and Brawlball are so much fun!

Absolutely agree with KH being the best game in the series. So cool to hear others agree. Stort was great like you said and the customisation options and unique levelling method with the levling blocks was incredible. It was allot of fun and I adore it. Easily one of the highest technical achievements as a full 3d action rpg on the ds with so much creative gameplay, great music and a fantastic story! So glad to hear others share that opinion!!!

Great list. I just watched a "100 ds games in 13 minutes" showing 100 of the most generic, well known garbage games released for the system. This list actually very helpful.

I loved all of these games, my Ex made me play Trace memory with her back in the day and I actually thought it was pretty good. I had no idea anyone else played it, let alone would put it at no. 1. Idk why it was called something else in Europe tho. Love the fat cases, I have a couple because they are way cheaper than the US versions.

I know this video is old, however I wanted to comment to say thank you for the awesome suggestions (I watched the follow-up video first). As I am fairly new to retro video game emulation I also want to suggest doing a video on what games can be played via emulation, as I suspect pc can't reproduce some of the ds' niche control schemes. Cheers!

I recently picked up a copy of the World Ends With You and I'm obsessed with it, the gameplay, art style and story are just top notch.
Did you have a chance to play 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors, Hotel Dusk Room 215 or any of the Ace Attorney games?
I think you would enjoy those!
