@@cvrpovdon’t we need clear coat after the solvent paint? I’m slightly confused how you achieve the shine and protection without clearcoat. Look forward to your response thanks
@@seemaabit’s all about depth, those scratches might have mostly scratched the clear coat. Scratches to the uninitiated are deceiving as they’re always white regardless of whether the scratched has reached the paint. In a lot of cases you’re simply sanding and polishing the clear coat. But to answer your question you can do as seen in the video and then use a spray can clear coat on top, then polish if you’d like. I’d likely apply clear coat to the entire wing mirror casing or panel in that case for the best finish. As you’ll see from his videos, it’s just not always necessary for a good enough repair.
i can't believe this man. mind blown. ive learned so much from your channel. im even thinking i could make a small home business outta this . . . . . .
Just found your channel and I'm so glad I did. I messed up my bumper by grabbing and wet sanding with 400 grit sandpaper 😢 I have a lot of scratches as you can imagine but nothing deep where my fingernail catches like you showed in this video just all cosmetic scratches. I'm gonna try to use the compound as you did in this video and hope it works haha. Thanks again for your awesome video. Fingers crossed!
Your work is impressive and has given me the confidence to tackle some issues on my car bodywork. Only issue is weather as I don’t have a garage sadly.
Just discovered your excellent videos. Love the way you explain things, with great tips and make it seem that anyone can - with care and patience - have a go. I'm going to tackle some large stone chips on my bonnet and, thanks to you, I'm confident of a good finish. Wish me luck! 😂🤞
@@johnzenkin1344 I haven't actually started it yet as we're moving house and I've been too busy, plus the weather has been so poor I'm waiting for a bit of warmth as I'll just have to put the front of the car inside the garage door. I'll certainly report back and am still confident of an excellent result!
I'm looking to give this a go on my mirror caps, I do have a question though... my cars metallic black, I've purchased a touch up bottle from a paint shop, being metallic I'll need to apply lacquer, would you mix the lacquer with the paint or is there a different process ide need to proceed with? Great tutorials, keep em up!
Hi and thank you for all the useful videos. May I ask? What type of color do you use here? It's black glossy for plastics? I have a similar damage (not that big) and I was thinking to give it a try following your method. Thanks in advance!
This video was great! I was astonished at the gloss level you achieved without having to spray on a clear-coat. Is clear coat mostly just for protection? Thank you.
I have watched tone of detailing videos on youtube, and no one like you, in my opinion, you are the best on youtube. Subscribe to your channel and big like your videos. Hope you upload more tutorials about removing scratches.
Watched a lot of your vids, gives so much great info. 2 questions, how much pressure do you give when wet sanding. It looks like quite a bit. Also, when cutting sand marks, is it best to keep moving quite quickly as apposition to more slowly when polishing! Thank you.
Question.the solvent paint ,is it mixed with hardener? Or is that paint your using just the base color not mixed with hardener or clear? And love the videos you make it look so easy . Thank you for the demo videos very insightful
Thanks so much for this. Someone just doored my passenger door and left some scratches to the primer. Can I use the same method on the door? Would I need a machine polish or can I hand polish?
Love your work 👍 can I ask where you get the black spreadable paint from as this would be perfect for what I need to do on mine after watching your tutorials.
@@cvrpov Can you tell me this solvent base paint it's with clearcoat in it? I have a Bmw kit repair paint and I don't know how to use it, I have 12 ml base paint and 12 ml clearcoat, I have to mix it?
When using paint can you use a touch up pen over the deeper marks and let dry and sand back etc ? or is solvent paint the same , i have not done this type of stuff yet hence the question ! Thanks
Can I ask you a question? Should the black paint be the same as the car´s original paint? So you order it for the paint code and you do the process of the video. Thanks in advance, amazing video
Great as always mate! Do you know if after several car washes or after a while (few months) the paint doesn't get dull again since it has no clear coating over the paint???? Any inputs on that?
I've just bought some of your paint! At what point do you know when to stop needing to increase grit number? One of your other videos on a deep scratch just used 1500 & 2000, whereas this video you used up to 3000 grit.
Hi. Adding 3000 makes polishing alot easier. Some people may not have access to it, so I demonstrate it can be done without, but adding more grades will definalty add a guarantee of better finishing
love the videos , got a couple of questions. 1. can i use the cars original touch up paint? 2. once finished how will the paint protection be affected as some of the lacquer is obviously taken away
Copied this tutorial and now I have a flatend looking panel even tho I have polished. Is it that my drill is too slow or maybe because I used t cut in red bottle?
Great video, question, I have the same repair on my Tiguan but how do I get a color match for the black side view mirrors?? My truck is grey, but my side view mirrors are glossy black
As a detailer getting into paint chip correction...you sir get a sub. Fantastic work!

Magical. It's the skill you have. Not to go too deep. Just right, clear coat only. Most of us try this and go too far, through the clear coat.
Thanks bud

Nice, but I wouldn't use high speed on buffer for compound. It'll leave bunch of "Fine" swirls mark on it...try to use low speed buffering instead

In the uk there are 2 main types, waterbased and solvent basecoat
This is pure genius

Solvent paint
What kind of black pain are you applying?

T cut no good. www.paintgear.co.uk if they ship to your country or look at links I provide in the description for alternatives.
