This series… 👌🏻!!! Really captures the human side of racing; the emotions involved, the spirit. Shows how important temperament is to any sportsman. Richard and Zach are so level headed, calm, realistic, focused… it’s so impressive. And Micheal shows a good example here as an “amateur”. He cares. He cares about the impact on his team. The way he apologised to all his team and thanked them all so much, his humility and willingness to learn and rebound. What a joy to witness all this aside from the actual racing
Congratulations to everyone involved in producing this series, it's a masterpiece, and I will watch it over and over. I am deeply grateful to everyone involved and that they were able to provide this classic story on TH-cam for free...
big props to the mechanics and all the members of the team.. how you built a car in one night is unbelievable.. truly amazing.. the calmness and focus must be out of this world.. it was nice that Richard came down and gave encouragements.. they are family..
I absolutely love how his team is soooo supportive through a very low point in the weekend. kudos to his peers and Richard is a huge mentor. I love how he stopped everything to go check in on him
Realistically they have to be supportive, regardless of how they may feel. It's in the team's best interest to lift up their drivers or it could cost all of them the entire weekend. A driver with the wrong state of mind is a mistake prone driver and at worst, could be an unsafe driver.
Just tremendous stuff. That pep talk from Richard was awesome to see. Also shoutout to the unsung hero’s of racing, the mechanics, pit crews & engineers.
I think beyond watching Michael's beautiful journey, the best thing about this series is seeing how much unity and team spirit is in the team. No matter the mistakes, the arguments, the disagreements, the failures, you can see that all of them are there for each other. It's wonderful to see motorsport bring people together in such a way.
Poor Michael. He really fell in a hole. Pressure can make things we enjoy feel like a battle. The dream becomes a nightmare indeed. Another amazing episode in this incredible series.
This is what it means to be human. It's very easy to call Michael names, like drama queen or Porsche bender. But the nervous system reacts to what happens in the way that it does. The hardest part of this, is watching your own reactions. Deep inside, you know that the best thing would be to immediately get over it, to get it behind you. But still, you shut down, you hide yourself, your world becomes very small, a lot of difficult emotions are just there. You notice that it becomes about you in a way that is not ideal. Feeling all that, trying to accept it, that's what it means to be human. Beautiful and very recognisable to witness this. Thank you to everyone involved.
This series does such an incredible job of displaying the mental side of racing. I can't imagine the pressure of being consistent when you are just second-guessing every split decision. And not just on a sim or am league but at Le Mans.
This shows a big mental difference of those starting racing as a fully matured adult vs an adolescent. We binned go-karts and miatas on multiple weekends, but it never entered the mind to question one's ability. Only catalog the incident and learn from it so as not to repeat. The fact that he went out and had a clean session the next day should have been a huge lift of confidence even with a couple of late braking incidents. Maybe it was and they just aren't showing it.
Based on my 50 years of reading about racing, and my very limited experience, I can say that when a driver has a spin or an off, they want to get him back in the car as soon as possible - before he has time to think about it. It's unfortunate that Michael had the rest of the day and the whole night for his mind to start working against him.
This entire thing is incredible. The cameras, story, sound, music...I do not know who is doing it, but. it is phenomenal. I am amazed by everything. Waiting for the next one :)

Racing is 4D chess on steroids. It’s psychological and physical and it’s such a buzz. Losing 5 kilograms bodyweight in an afternoon and watching as colours fade to white, purple and blue. It takes huge balls to enter the rarified air of premier motor racing and I admire Fassbender and his multi-talented collaborators 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I love this series so much. The racing, cinematography, and excitement is one thing but watching the team support eachother through insurmountable setbacks like this one is something I really love to see. We should all be more like Sebastian. What a legend.
Whoever the team are on this production, should get a raise! How does it keep getting better!? So much tension and drama, I love it! You really feel with the whole crew

That crash on the Mulsanne during qualifying when the car setup wasn't at it's best to start with was heart breaking... My compliments to everyone involved in the production of this series, sound and camera crew, editing etc are top notch. Along with maintaining a narrative and keeping it exciting. And I don't even want to know how much it cost to create and make available for us fans to watch (for free) on TH-cam. Up there with the F1 series on Netflix, in a way better I would say. And a superb way to celebrate the end of the 911 RSR GTE program too. As someone who likes to do a bit of simulation racing, when I have time, after watching this I just had to try the 911 RSR at Le Mans, while spinning out multiple times too... 😉
While not on this scale, I have been in a situation where an accident steming from my actions was detrimental to my team. It absolutely guts you to let your teammates down. When plans and practice is wasted because of something that you've done it is the worst. Yet what I learned was that real teammates that are focused on the team understand and adapt. It's the self centered people that fail in those situations. As is said in this video, there is no way out. You have to be there for your team and they have to be there for you. You get back on that horse and ride.
I'm new to this FANTASTIC series and binge watched it over Xmas; I thought I'd go back to the earlier videos too and it's amazing to see the difference in Michael's handling of the 'rookie error' in Season One Episode 1 when he rear ended at Heckenheim to this; as the stakes increase (in life!) so does the self-criticism and stress. This is the best motor sport drama ever! Big thanks to all involved.
Endurance racing is a true test of the driver, machine and team. That is why it is so fascinating to participate in.....and the race hasn't even started yet!
I am very impressed about how the team reacted on the crash! Everyone was super bummed out but stepped up for Michael: comforted him, sent him home, and got to work... You could build a whole coaching program based on how they handled this situation... very impressive!
And people still think motor racing is a bunch of people driving around in circles. Amazing episode. I can only imagine the mental state Michael was in during this situation. And it only goes to show how difficult it is to win this race. Amazing. Thank you Porsche.
Without question the best episode in the series. Racing is just as much, if not more mental than it is being able to perform on track. If you do not have the right mindset for any reason, it will absolutely affect you on track. Mental health in racing is one of, if not the most important factor for success. All the track time in the world can't help you if your head is not in the game. I absolutely LOVE this series. This is the reality of finding success in motorsports.
I have friends that have never raced and they seriously have no idea what it’s like. This series is so well done, and thanks to Michael for bringing it to us!
Either Netflix has to get this entire production team for drive to survive , or forever loose the GOAT Motorsport docuseries toh this . Micheal going out at pit green in HVOB, don't remember last i had goosebumps like these . Unreal .
Its easy to watch this series and think that Fassbender is in over his head and doesn't have what it takes to compete at this level. But what that doesn't take into account it exactly what it DOES take to be successful at this level. The people who make, setup, manage and co-drive the car are quite literally among the very best in the world. His skill is so far above most people who are not professional drivers, and he is operating in world where the .01% operate with margins of .0001%. His ability to push on and learn is impressive.
Love this series. It gives one an idea of what it's like to truely race at this level. I cannot fault Michael in anyway. None of us arm chair racers can understand what he is going through. His determination is inspiring. Keep pushing Michael. Keep allowing him to grow Porsche. I could only hope for a ride along on this beatiful track.
I’m excited to see how Michael grows from this. The crash was a wake up call to the real gravity of what he has signed up for. Le Mans is a dangerous course and The accident looked scary. this will make him a much better driver in the long-term
Thank goodness that Michael is alive nor physically hurt. I felt for him. He is so concerned for everyone. I’m so glad people talked to him, especially Richard!
And what about the other cars that crashed in this episode? Are you gonna say the same to them? It's better to not say anything than look like an idiot
The trouble is the bronze driver is always the weakest link, and especially fassbender,as he probably spends the absolute least amount of time in the car, compared to all the other bronze drivers with his filming commitments. This then compounds his weakest trait, which is confidence, and the mental side of racing, with so much on the line. You can certainly see the silver driver Zak,was in a round about way, unhappy about fassbenders mental state in such a high stakes race. All credit to fassbender for trying to operate at such a high level of motorsport, but i do wonder if driving the RSR is a step to far. Hes been very lucky not to injure himself with the various crashes hes had.
Wow what a amazing effort by the mechanics to rebuild a car, hats off to them. This series needs a wider audience, Netflix or Amazon you need to sign this up 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I know that's easier said than done. But i think Michael worries far too much about the problems of the team, the mechanics, the project management or what else, instead of concentrating on himself, overcoming the mental downturn and focusing on the race instead of all the previous problems. I would not want to be in his shoes in such a situation. But this video series relentlessly shows realistic racing with all the setbacks and successes. It's one of the best things I've seen on the subject so far.
Yeah, it's just pointless to be that way. If you screw up, you need to accept it and move on. But at the very least don't further that issue by constantly needing to be consoled by the team.
I know a lot of us and his team are saying that he needs to get past it. But once you get in your own head, things snowball and you start thinking about everyone that this affects. It’s a bad head space. This episode really shows how hard it gets.
as an actor I really thought he would be able to get past it quickly using some of those skills but I guess not. I am very hard on myself but watching 12 mins of him complaining and needing everyone in the team to come and say it’s ok was just draining. it’s motorsport, you’re gonna bend the car, you can’t react that way every time it happens or your team loses confidence in you
@@manuelrichling3418 have you watched this video or other videos of the series? Always blaming others? Srsly, when he crashes he just says he fucked it up, not someone else. It's not us "fanboys", it's just you are hater. Leaving same text almost under every comment here. And there would not be a lot of people in racing if they had not money, because this sport is about money, so your point is stupid again
I was in the paddock at one of the IMSA races at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in the mid-seventies, watching the BMW mechanics work on the cars. One mechanic was laying under the front of Hans Stuck's car; he might have been repairing crash damage, I don't quite remember. One of the other spectators asked him if Stuck was a good driver. The reply was "He is a good crasher!"
I relate so much to Michael on this, when I make a mistake that affects not just me but a bunch of people, I’m my harshest critic, it takes me so much time to get over it, then it comes to a point where your mind just can’t stop thinking about the ways to bring you down. It’s very hard to get a hold of your mind when it’s against you.
Love everything about this series! Thank you Michael, Porsche and everyone involved (the mechanics are incredible!!!) for allowing us to see how it all happened. The 23rd of Dec. seems too long lol!
Have to feel for the mechanics, that’s two twenty four hours of Le Mans they will go through now. I feel for Michael also, I wouldn’t want to go through that. In my mind if he does race, regardless of the result or what happens in the race that’s brass balls right there. Which I guess is what you need to drive anyway. And on that front he has already achieved more than I personally expected at the beginning of this series. Riveting stuff.
Big BIG props to every single one of those Mechanics in that garage performing their 300% workload to get a not only drivable but better feeling car revision from the last. I would love to watch the whole segment of just the mechanics and their team meetings the thought process and then all the factors involved to get that car built and ready. WOW. Absolutely insane. As for Michael. It is what it is....Expectations is sadly the worst human emotion and the only way to control such emotion is not to expect but to just go out with the mutual rule of knowing what you know and just keeping to that. I obviously am not one to talk. As it looks like mayhem out there on that track. The not knowing what will happen. But also needing to know how to control those situations. Props.
Cant wait to see how michael bounces back! I was stuck at this stage for more than a year after an incident on track. You want to move on with racing and forget about it and all your teammates, friends and mechanics are trying to be supportive and remind you of the ‘trauma’ by telling you to forget about it ♻️ Driving becomes alien, and you feel robbed of your hearts desire
You want to feel for Michael, but most guys drive Porsches through iterations from Cup to GT3 to RSR and so on throughout years of experience in many different series. It’s very difficult to get gain it in 2 or 3 years and be able to react to EVERY different situation. On top of all of that he has all these internet commandos who have never put foot to pedal of a race car criticizing him and giving him horrible names. I have every confidence he will stand on the Le Mans podium someday, he just has to stop being so hard on himself and learn to ENJOY racing.
Looking back, Michael would probably get PTSD and know and feel that feeling he had. But also he will feel the teams spirit lifting him back up and out of the darkness. Never underestimate the power of a great team. Respect to the Porsche team. ❤️👊❤️👊❤️

And what about the other cars that crashed in this episode? Are you gonna say the same to them? It's better to not say anything than look like an idiot
And yet he got a second podium this season. He also achieved his goal which was running at Le Mans. He did that and finished the race.
@@thevinceberryquite an ignorant comment mate
20:13: This is a behind the scenes example of what a lot of people do not realize. The mechanics are really unsung heroes.
Seconded! The mechanics deserve a bonus episode.
The trouble is the bronze driver is always the weakest link, and especially fassbender,as he probably spends the absolute least amount of time in the car,
compared to all the other bronze drivers with his filming commitments.
This series needs a wider audience, Netflix or Amazon you need to sign this up 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Well done for the team for pulling together and rebuild that car over night. 👏🏼
so precise music arrangement besides everything else. have nothing to add - this series are true masterpiece
Amazing series. Absolutely love it and get so pumped for each new episode!!!
I am very hard on myself but watching 12 mins of him complaining and needing everyone in the team to come and say it’s ok was just draining. it’s motorsport, you’re gonna bend the car, you can’t react that way every time it happens or your team loses confidence in you
I forgot how much I miss Motorsport in the winter months until I watched this series. Damn I can't wait until Le Man's 23
Michael Fessbender is a legend and great person!
Regardless of our different professions, this is just so inspiring !
This is such am amazing, series. I love everything that goes on behind the scenes. Massive shout out to MF and to the whole team
The reply was "He is a good crasher!"
i'm going to watch this at least five times!!!!
We be sad when this is over. Love that they are putting out videos closer together.
Might just be the best motor racing film I've seen. Brings home the harsh reality of what it takes to be a driver.
Mechanics and stewards deserve mad respect on this type of races, even without having incidents. Kudos to them!
Props.
No disrespect to Michael, but simply put, he’s not a good driver and not a race car driver. Ultimately, he’s taking the spot of others that are.
Richard Leitz is such a Gentleman, he will be a great legend
Bravo to the mechanics.👏🏼
Awesome video. One of the best series ever. Looking forward to the next episode. Keep up the good work.
G sus …. Finally a story appropriate movie with real actors , real emotions and real cars. Love it !
Stellar episode once again. Just a heads up that the date in the credits is the 23rd rather than the 30th :)
I was waiting for them to release another one later today but probably a mistake :(
@MGiova83 ya, unfortunately, it says the 30th in the bio under the video. I thought the same
Cant wait to see how michael bounces back!
Another masterpiece!
At 16:29 I was almost in tears. Very powerful moment. That’s Endurance racing.
