I did this race (24hr ‘Ring) in 2000 and 2001, driving a Caterham 7. The first year we only just made the cut, starting 207 out of 210! The night stint is exactly as he describes! My first night practice, I slowed at the top of Kallenhard because I saw a red flashing light ahead... it was a disco in the forest, also driving through those bbq smoke, smelling the food made my realise we hadn’t eaten all day, working on the car. We weren’t a big team and the drivers had to prep the car. It was a long hard struggle to get to the starting line... then you have to race for 24 hours. We finished both races, finishing 3rd in class - after being put into a faster class both times.

Absolut fantastisch!
