    I've heard of many st croix rods breaking... the high cost of the rod is for the replacement ..😂

      Good point. Yea especially the entry level rods and UL power ones.

    Why do so many people say that these rods suck because they break? You were high sticking the rod and putting pressure on the blank that shouldn't be put on it under normal fishing circumstances. Don't pull the tip down like that with the rod butt being vertical. I've never broken any of my 10 St. Croix rods and every single video I've seen of someone breaking these has been user error.

      You're right. With careful handling, I never break any St. Croix rods.
      On the other hand, I have a G Loomis rod, that I accidentally step on the line and the top portion curved into a circle and still didn't break.
      I guess the more appropriate term is abuse resistance.

      That was not high sticking. These rods should be able to handle regual use and the rigors of fishing

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andrewgonzales1108 It's high sticking along a different axis. It's the same pressure being out on the rod as what you consider high sticking. These rods do handle the regular rigors of fishing.

    I had one and returned it within my first 2 months of using it. It's definitely a sensitive rod but man the ring inserts are horrible. With only mono the line dug into the tip insert and left a groove in it, they sent me a replacement rod tip and did the same thing. Use your money on something better with Fuji ceramic inserts.

      Thanks for the advice! Do you think the premier rod from St Croix is any better?

      @@chinoking356 It is a very good rod! As long as there's no manufacturing defect on your rod.

    I was looking into upgrading to this St. Croix pole. But after watching this, I've decided to stick with my cheapo 5 years old Ugly Stik. 🤣

    • @SteveChenFishing
      @SteveChenFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha. Ugly stick is unbreakable! It takes some luck to get a good st Croix, once you get a good one, it’s really good!

      Can't go wrong with the Ugly Stik brand 👍🎣

    Not sure but looks like you bent the line down towards the rod/reel but it could have been the rod

    • @SteveChenFishing
      @SteveChenFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good catch! I'm also avoiding doing that since then. Always keep the angle between line and rod > 90 degree.
      However, no matter how hard I tried, couldn't break the ugly stick UL rod...🤣

    Yes, (best rods on earth)........they should change that. I seen on video so many people had these rods break. Real sad and their expensive too.

    Don't buy any brand with a wire wound tip. They always break sooner or later. I had two ST. Croixs break the same way. Bend any wire back and forth and it will eventually snap in half.

    All St croix rods supposed to have a life time warranty.

    • @SteveChenFishing
      @SteveChenFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For this one I think it’s 5 yr ? Legend series is like 15 yr.

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. Either 2, 5, or 15 year depending on the series.

    • @Robert-hr6sh
      @Robert-hr6sh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as they are in business a life time!! Life time warranties really mean nothing. Example: Sears, great tools "Craftsman" life time warranty, now Sears have been out of business for many years now.
