John, I've been watching you for some time now. I'm disabled and am wheelchair bound. So I don't get out very often. But I just wanted to say thanks for the outdoors videos, and your good fishing, but the one special thing I love about your videos is that at the end you always put that bible verse that more times than not speaks to my heart from our Lord, and that's where the real thank you from me goes to you. I also know that just like those different species of fish you catch, I'm sure you are also A fisher of men. Thanks Buddy...... Tony Allotta
What a wonderful testimony and shout out to the king of kings, and lord of lords. I was moved by your statement being disabled. Knowing, in our soon eternal home. You'll be walking streets of gold.
Fishing like this is awesome because of its simplicity! This is just going for the pure joy of fishing..Nothing really big, but all of them fun! Thanks as always, John, for reminding us to make life simple to enjoy once in a while! :-)
You have inspired me to use more plastics and I have now caught 4 smallmouth. I have been pretty much a bobber and a worm fan up until now. I have now got a reel with braid on it that I’m enjoying.
My girlfriend got me a 6’6” ultralight TFO trout and panfish rod for my birthday, I liked it so much we each picked up a 7’ ML walleye pro rod from TFO. So far we’re very impressed with them.
I’m glad you’re doing the fishing thing you like best. Of course there are more rugged and remote creeks and streams, but the ease of catching lots of fish at home is very cool. This is how you started, fishing close to home after work. :-)
Great tutorial on how to find hidden fishing spots where you wouldn't think to look. Nature has been relegated to postage stamp size areas here and there in many cities. I also enjoy using light tackle and fishing for panfish when I can. Enjoyed watching.
TFO rods are what I’m trying to get all of my rods changed to. I love the strength and sensitivity it has, and the price is so competitive to the other big brand names. And for those who’s don’t know, G Loomis himself at one point was designing the rods.
I went wading today in a steep banked creek. Quinnipiac River in Wallingford, CT. It isn't easy especially at 60 years old in near waist deep water. Especially wading back against the current. I hold my own tho with my 30 year old work buddies I went with.
John I'm so glad I came upon your videos, a while back! You always show us, what you are using and by watching you, we learn how to use it. You don't realize how much you mean to all of us, that might be learning to fish. God has given you a great talent brother, keep on using it! I to have a disability but my God continues to breathe that breath of air in my lung and awakes me again to a beautiful day. To where I can sit by the river and fish, watch eagles and osprey flying over me. We serve a Almighty God, fool of Love and Grace for us! God Is Good, amen! (Glen). WV.
I started my fishing on very small creeks with a cane pole cotton line I did not have lures then worms was what I used caught a lot of kinds of fish we ate everything it was a special meal that was a long time ago I wish I could have had some of the tackle that is available today I still can't afford much now have to pickup anything that's on sale in the junk pile good to see you catching a little of everything like I did with a pole an cotton line that came out of a flour sack and I caught my first fish on a bent pen good luck to you
I do the exact same thing here in a suburb of Philadelphia,pa.Knee deep max and bang baby bass, fallfish chubs, all species of sunnies and I did catch a baby chain pickerel(only once). All my adventures are 3 to 5 hours long in the center of the creeks.
Finally found my go to urbanish creek. Right near my job. Turkey creek in Knoxville off a greenway. Caught me 6 or 7 decent sunfish in that creek. It really is exciting! I’ve caught nothing in eight trips to the lake this year but haven’t failed to catch something in 6 trips to small creeks.
Awesome fun. For those little creeks I use my 5ft okuma celilo ultralight with Braid to a mono leader and man can you cast far with those tiny lures. Glad to see you like-minded individual!
I’m from northern Ohio but just got back from a vacation in Pigeon Forge. Fished the West Prong of Little Pigeon and caught my first redbreasts. Videos don’t do them justice when it comes to their color. I can see why you enjoy catching them.
Once I was fishing a stream in Georgia & kept catching catfish when I went down to get my last fish there was a large pygmy Rattler, I guess it smelled the fish! I was Outta there! lol enjoy your fishing adventures! Enjoyed your scripture post at the end.
I love the natural color trout slayer, however my daughter caught a nice smallmouth on the black one. I got hooked on trout magnet gear on your channel. Glad to see you back on them.
Great video! Pan fishing is one of my favorite. Great setup. I'm gonna look up the lures you were using. They look like they'd do good here in West TN.
Some points well made, John, and thanks for trying to catch fish in the trees. It's nice to see someone who shares in my habit!!! Two hundred dollars in equipment is a chunk of change but you said it well, a twenty dollar set will catch fish too and I'll bet the fish is yet to hatch that will know the difference. You know, the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. God Bless and fish on.
Dad took me 🎣 fishing during a solar Eclipse, we never got a bite! It was so eerie to see everything like dusk in the middle of the day! It just reminded me God is in control. 🙏
As always John you have the right video for the right occasion. I was just thinking to myself that I needed to go a do some pan fishing and was wondering where I would go. After watching your video I then struggled my way down the green way and was completely amazed at how many fish I was able to catch and how many species I was able to see and catch. I paid for it, but in the end it was absolutely amazing and I had a blast. I even caught an 11" coosa bass that I would have swore was Moby Dick when he first hit my lure. Thank you again for your great videos , and The amazing scripture that you always share. God Bless and GO KATS!!!!!!!!!!
TFO rods are great. I really like the fly rods they make so I bought a spinning rod and it is just like the fly rods. Very accurate casting rods. The J braid is my favorite line from Daiwa. Try the J fluoro line. Much thicker diameter for the lb test but I feel it allows for more abrasion resistance. Also if you like the trout magnets and trout slayers for little creeks the mini trout magnets are good as well. I usually cast them with a float as they weigh next to nothing. Keep fishing!
Ditto on the fly rods. I've had more than one occasion where a guide asked to give mine a few casts, and then ask me if I wanted to sell it. Comparable to superior to rods costing several times as much. No trouble believing that they would put out good spinning rods, too.
Great vid, John! I have the panfish magic, need the trout slayer! Glad you protect yourself too! I've now carried a Glock 26 with a G17 back up mag with me everyday, everywhere 14 years...since 2008 when I 1st got my permit. Only a few trips to the courthouse or someplace like that for an hour or something. Hope to never need it, but I've come close a time or 2. God Bless and sure love your channel! Had my canoe in the river yesterday...will have my kayak fishing today later.
I also feel passionately about tools that I hope to never use! I got 2 Kidde FA110s and an Ougist MSW for the car. Hope I never need them but they are fucking sick!
We ate lunch today at the little resteraunt beside this creek today. I told my wife about you fishing there and she said How does he get down there. It is really grown up right now.
John, Great Video and Outstanding Information Thanks For Sharing Your Time and Knowledge and letting me tag along with you. God has Blessed You. Keep up the Outstanding Job you are doing. God Bless. Tim L.
Fished a creek yesterday here in east Tn… looked very similar to one you’re fishing but diversity of species was a lot less. Redbreast sunfish & a ton of rock bass
Just got back from fishing my local creek, and caught 6 species. Bluegil, shiner, goggle eye (rock bass), green sunfish, the smallest smallmouth I have ever seen (was probably born this year) and a creek chub. Was a great and sweaty day.

Love fishing for panfish, perch, and other small fish in small creeks. In fact i think its more fun then fishing lake and ocean!
