- With temperatures climbing to 40°C (104°F), this was an extremely hot day on the south thailand motorbike tour, Episode 4. Today was filled with so much stuff. It was again so hot, that I actually had to abandon my first attempt at filming this episode while riding my ADV 160 motorbike through southern Thailand. However, the things I saw today surely made it worthwhile. Join me as I check out a huge serpent sculpture at a monastery, stop at a beautiful dam, share two different hotels I stayed at, and even take you to a local night market in a small town. Although the temperature was less than inviting, I was able to make the best of this scorching hot day on my motorbike tour of the south of Thailand.

The last resort owned by the Danish couple looked nice. I could see myself staying there a couple of nights. The black dog that visited you was so cute!

Yeah, that first place was so good that I’m actually gonna stop there for a day on the way back as well. There isn’t much around it, but just such a nice little resort. And yes, it’s ridiculously hot.
Going above and beyond...Serg's motorbike tour down south has met withheat wave and very hot weather... hope you're ready with more water 💧 not the heavy down pour just like the end of the vblog....the hotel rooms are pretty nice and new too!!...the gigantic water dam is a sight to behold...very beautiful...the market where you bought some fried chicken and pork sticks are the better option...thanks Serg for bringing us along the epic road trip🎉😅😂
This is definitely the worst time of the year to do a motorbike tour, but I’m enjoying it regardless. I’ve got three or four more episodes coming from this series. Hope you enjoy.
Hello Serg, Sorry to hear you're still dealing with the food poisoning. I'm finally over my cold, I'm hoping you will heal quickly to. Then on top of it dealing with the heat, did that rain shower help cool things down ? Hope the humidity didn't get to bad. Hey Matt, hope all is well. These videos are about a week behind. I’m completely fine now. But yeah, when the bike wouldn’t start at the temple, I was like WTF. Yesterday in the span of one hour on the bike, it went from 39°C to 29°C. I entered an area where the rain had previously come through, and it made it so much cooler.
Gosh it is hot I liked that temple, added it to my list. The 2nd hotel with the cute dog was nice. I love how that night market at every stall they had the tiny fans above the food to keep the fly's away, instead of the workers constantly swatting at them. Good video, safe travels
This is turning out to be the total wildlife trip. Lol. Wait until you see some of the next episodes. Yeah that second hotel was great. I would highly recommend it.

Please don’t worry. While I’m actually moving on the bike, I stay very cool. It’s the red lights when I walk around, but it’s hot. I’m definitely being very careful.

Glad you enjoyed it. It’s not as bad as everyone thinks. As long as I’m moving on the bike, I stay pretty cool because I’m totally covered so I’m not getting sunburned, wind burned or dehydrated. It’s the red lights, and then walking around wearing half the gear and carrying a 15 kg backpack that’s doing me in.

There’s so much in this area to explore. The heat is definitely slowing me down, but that’s OK.
I watched a youtube video on some cons of the adv150/160 and one that stood out was the problems as a result of the key fob and the bike sometimes not recognizing the device and failing to start.
Your video presentation and editing was spot on in this video...well done 👍
I think it’s a great bike for touring. I haven’t had any problems with it. The reason it didn’t start was because I had hit the immobilizer button on the remote in my pocket.

You should absolutely do it. Just be aware that the majority of Thais are horrible drivers so you have to be very careful.

40 degrees is 104 farenheit and thats in the shade , probably more like 50 in the sun with humidty
Yeah, it’s pretty bad. However, as long as I was moving on the bike, I stayed pretty cool. The rough times were at red lights and also when I was walking around.

Just watched the first minutes and already want to post a comment. We are now in Luang Prabang (Laos) and after 11am it is no fun anymore to ride our scooter. Too hot. And the place you stayed in Surat Thani is the same we had the end of December 2023 before we flew to Bangkok and then Siem Reap.
Yeah, it is very very hot! That place in Surat Thani is magnificent.
I guess the problem with motorcycling is all that heavy hot gear you have to wear in all seasons.
A lot of people actually don’t realize this, but I stay so much cooler with all of this gear. If I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt, I would constantly be getting sunburnt and dehydrated. As long as I’m moving, I stay pretty cool. It’s the red lights, and then when I’m walking around in the seat, that really gets me.

It was a beautiful province. And you are so correct, those wooden bridges are usually in very poor condition.
Southern Thailand has only rainy season and summer. From November to February it is suitable for driving. I myself have plans to go to the southernmost point of the southern region.

I never really paid attention to "Summer" in SE Asia. I grew up in Malaysia decades ago and it has gotten much hotter these days, even my mom who hates cold says that so I definitely don't miss it! Wrong season to be on a motorbike you say, what about em foreigners riding in their mountain bikes in your earlier video, the best idea ever 😂. I just watched Greeny Travels (your fellow police officer) YT videos where he visited Koh Kret (Only active on weekends) and Koh Samet Island. You picked the worst possible time to do motorcycle trip in Thailand, even my friend who's a Thai policeman have to stopped riding and then temporarily go back to drive car instead as he felt it was too hot for a weekend leisure motorcycle trip he was in Nakhon Pathom.
I currently live in Kanchanaburi it hit 44 degrees Celsius or 111 degrees Fahrenheit the other day.
I couldn't leave the A/C room from 11 AM to almost 7 PM it's too damn hot and dangerous to even think of doing anything productive outside, I actually have to cut down or cancelled my golf driving range practice sessions because of the heat is so unbearable even during the night.
Yet here I am doing it. 🤣😂 It’s been two weeks and despite the crazy heat, I’m doing fine. Yes, at 44°. It is definitely too hot. However I was still bicycling in Texas in 110° heat. Thanks for your concern, I’m doing ok. 👍
Joy Division fans, I would like to suggest that when you reach the southern tip of Thailand, try to find an opportunity to travel to Penang at least once.
That reminds me, I haven’t worn that shirt for quite some time. Penang will not happen on this trip. I will return and explore more on this area in a future trip

That’s pretty cool how your adv shows the outside air temp , does it have the option to switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit ?
Yes, I’m sure I could switch it. The whole instrument is programmable from standard to metric.
@@LifewithSerg that’s awesome !… I know the Thai models are a little different than the American models ,.. for example when I go to Thailand and rent a pcx it has the switch to allow the motor to shut off at red lights,.. my pcx 150 here at home doesn’t have that option

Yes, I realize that black is the worst color. Most writing year comes in black because otherwise it would get dirty very quickly. As long as I’m moving on the bike, I’m perfectly fine. It’s the red lights, and then walking around it really zaps me.

You know it’s funny you ask that. I think I’ve only had KFC two or three times my whole life while living in the US. Here I’ve had it a couple dozen. I think like any other chain, McDonald’s, Burger King, etc., they do a very good job of replicating all over the world.

It seems the government does not care about safety or enfore any rules if there are any, on the roads or at any of the attractions. In Thailand are the property owners not worried about someone suing them if they get hurt on their sketchy properties?
No one cares. And if you get hurt it’s YOUR fault in the eyes of the system. Keep in mind this is a developing country and majority of Thais are not taught critical thinking or cause and effect basics in school.

You know it’s so funny we’re gonna say that. My first instinct was that it was Naga, but for some reason, I thought Naga had five heads. It’s definitely been hot, but I’ve lived in some very hot climates before. However, I would not do this again, nor would I recommend it. Lol.

Actually, as long as I’m moving, it’s not that bad. It’s when I’m at a red light, or when I’m walking around that I really feel the heat. I’m definitely taking it easy.
