This happened to me on GTA last night .. level 24 attacked me out of the blue....my second character who was a 187 (main is over 300 so with shared bank thats a 487 in my book) ended with him then hiding in a parking garage with my avenger being pinged by their tiny bullets
Maybe they figured, "If we can take those, nobody can stand up to us again!" bit totally forgot that you need a really good plan and timing to capture a ship bigger and bladder than yours while it's fully staffed and armed...
For that matter, even if they got lucky and we're able to board her, this is not a ship full of commercial maritime crew, these are soldiers trained to counter boarding actions. The CO has distributed rifles and shotguns by the time the pirates get onto her decks. It will not go well for the pirates in those cramped passageways, that's the sailors home turf.
Or they simply thought it was better to go out fighting thinking their spirit will somehow win out against a state of the art destroyer equipped with some of the most deadliest weapons known to man and SEALS trained to use said weapons

They’re at home hearing stories and the ones that survive probably didn’t get taken seriously enough. This shows their forced to learn slowly because of whatever culture they have at home. They gamble with their lives to come back with such a huge haul like a US ship. That’s exactly how pirates think or should think according to the movies.
