Jeff, I have been binge watching your videos and can't thank you enough!!! I know you have worked on all engine types and grateful you have decided to share your knowledge and experience with these jet boats. Be safe and God Bless you and your family.
Thank you so much for this detailed video. One question: While your engines are running, do they charge both batteries or just the one that you have selected? I am very new having just bought a 2007 Yamah 230SX. I want to be able to run the sound system if we are out all day without worrying about running the battery dead. Also, do you have any kind of battery meter that shows the charge on each battery?
The bilge pump is on a switch at the helm like all Yamaha Jet boats. There is one positive wire that feeds power to the entire helm and it's connected to the positive bus bar.
Hi Jeff. For us yamaha jet boat single engine guys, using your exact same 2 batt set up, will it matter if the two neg batt posts are jumped together vs have both neg batt cables connected to bus bar? Hope this makes sense. Thanks for the videos.
It was okay but I wanted something with a little more bass. I had a 12in rockford fosgate sub from my old truck and I built a box and placed it under the starboard rear seat.
Hey Jeff, thanks for all the helpful videos, especially since I'm not mechanically inclined. I have a 2008 SX230 and have applied several of your helpful hints. I saw your amp/sub set up in one of the videos and am currently installing the same setup in my boat. Which wire did you tap into for the Remote (usually blue) wire?
Question about your duel battery set up. Do you turn your switch to “All or both” when running around the lake to charge both battery’s, then switch to battery 1 when swimming and listening to the radio? Keeping battery 2 fully charged as a back up? Also do you have the original speakers in your boat? I have a 2006 sx230 and want to slightly upgrade my radio system along with a Bazooka like yours. Don’t want to modify my charging system outside of adding a dual battery setup like yours. Thank you Nik
Yes, to charge both batteries while the engines are running you have to have the switch on "BOTH". What I do every 2 weeks on Monday, I charge both batteries on my charger at home/slip and then I only use battery 1 for everything and save battery 2 as a backup. Then in another 2 weeks I charge everything at home and swtich to battery 2 as my main and save battery 1 for a back up. There are many ways to do this but this works perfect for me.
@@JeffDoesThis do you think it would work if I put my switch to “both” while riding around & water skiing to charge both. Then switch to battery 1 while swimming and listening to the radio. While then have battery 2 as a back up that was only charging or charged by the boat while I had them set on both? Hopefully my question made sense
Does both batteries get charged if you only use switch setting 1? The guy we bought the boat from said leave it in 1&2 to charge both batteries, but we don't trust him.
No they don't. It only charges the batteries that our selected. I keep battery #2 charged up at 100% as my backup and use battery #1. After 3 weeks I swap it and charge battery #1 up to a 100% and use battery #2 as my main battery. This way even if I let the stereo run until it's dead I always have a full battery as a backup.
Hi Jeff, awesome video's! Im running an 07 AR230 and we love it. Im upgrading the sound system and need to add another battery. What batteries are you running in your boat? Is there any issues with charging them from the boat? I don't want to burn out a stator coil.
I run Advance Auto Parts house brand of batteries. The reason use them is they have a stores everywhere for warranty issues. Also, I have never had an issue with them. Now for charging. Even if you have a big block chevy you will still have to charge your batteries with a sound system running all day. Unless you are driving your boat for hours when you go out, you just won't have enough run time to charge what you used while floating in the cove. I plug in my charger once a week with our boat.
Very nice and clean setup! Do you ever run the second battery so it’ll charge? I’m looking to do this and would probably run a different battery every outing just to keep them both operating.
That's similar to what I do except I go every 2 weeks before i switch the batteries over. We also wakeboard a ton! So even if we float with the stereo on, we have run the engine so much (wakeboarding) that I have never ran into a low battery situation ever. My stereo also has 2 amps as well. Also, get the jump pack as an extra backup.
They are both the same deep cycle batteries and they work perfect. These 4 cylinder engines crank over very easily and don't require a dedicated cranking battery.
For my setup, yes. My boat has 3 amps, 12in subwoofer, 2 tower speakers and the 4 cabin speakers and I have never ran into an issues were I was left stranded on the water because my batteries died. Now, the party stage in my life has past a long time ago. We do crank it up when we surf but when we are floating our stereo is at normal volume. Also, I spend my money on fuel for surfing, wakeboarding and skiing and there is just not much left for a $5000 stereo system. I hope this helps.

You are very welcome!
Thanks for doing this video. I have almost the same boat and need this.
Dang we have the same boat and same truck LOL! Love my 6.0's though. Really like this battery set up, it's on my to do list.

Jeff. Please show where the bilge pump wire is connected to.

You can totally do that. Either way is fine.
How do you like the bass tube? I'm not looking to light up the cove but some extra sound range would be nice. Thanks

Yep, blue wire is correct and thanks for the positive feedback!

Hi Jeff, where are your fuses in this setup? Are you fusing the power to your amps on the bus bar or on the battery? Thanks!
The fuses are after the bus bar.

I've got a question. What is the black line on your diagram. The black line between switch and b1
It represents the actual switch. AKA the knob you turn to select the different batteries.
Молодец чувак, все четко!
Did you buy them all as a kit? Switch, bus bat and the wires?
No I did not. I have links in the description for the parts.

They are both the same deep cycle batteries and they work perfect. These 4 cylinder engines crank over very easily and don't require a dedicated cranking battery.
@@JeffDoesThis ah... so, no cranking battery? Interesting. You are blowing my world view here !
@@JeffDoesThis I just re-read and realized you have an 4 cylinder in board. I run a 150hp Yami outboard four stroke.
What is the "all" used for on the switch ?
Combines boat batteries (still 12v) for an increase in battery capacity.
Jeff, do you think AGM batteries are overkill?
For my setup, yes. My boat has 3 amps, 12in subwoofer, 2 tower speakers and the 4 cabin speakers and I have never ran into an issues were I was left stranded on the water because my batteries died. How is that bazooka sub working for you?
It works great.
