Yeah top boat, absolute beauty, trouble with a boat like this is you need to be a really good sailor to get everything out of her. No point having a gem like this and you can't put it through it's paces, it needs to be sailed fast and well
Thanks. Yeah if this had been my first boat I would have been lost, overwhelmed and quite possibly had an accident and might not even been still sailing. It rewards you when you push it

Hi Hugh, glad you like my boat. No idea about the kettle to be honest! It plugs into a cigarette socket is about all I know. I'm super bad with anything electrical as you might have guessed.
Great boat. I’ve seen newer C&C boats that are minimalist/race style like yours. My wife would need more creature comforts though this would be perfect for me.
Thanks Jon, yeah I think that would be the case often. This boat was for sale for 3 months before I found it and had 4-5 couples looking at it and when the wife went below she was in all cases put off by the spartan interior. I love it though so its a win for me.
She looks sweet Vernon! I thought I was short on storage but seeing this video I guess I'm ok after all! Mind you I wish I had the space for those batteries - I'm doubling my current house bank but I'll still only have 200Ah. I'm hoping that will be ok 🤔
200Ah of lithium is the same as 400Ah of lead batteries so maybe go that route if you have a lack of space. Cheaper in the long run too. I'll be doing that when my current batteries are finished. More storage space just means you'll end up filling it up with stuff.
@@SailingLearningByDoing Hi Vernon, I think I mentioned it in a comment once before when you first got her. I am more of a multihull guy so decided to keep going down that path.. Excellent tour! Question: what made you decide that you wanted to get this boat instead of the your previous boat? That was an older one, what was the model? I'm currently planning my still-to-come adventure and scouting the market for the right boat now.
Good question! I've talked about that in a few videos. My old boat was an S&S35. Full Keel, solid fibreglass, heavy, slow and solid. Great learning boat. It was from 1974. The reasons I didn't think it suited my goals. 1. heavy and slow. in the tropics I would have been motoring more than sailing 2. too old. There was always something that needed fixing, like every time I sailed it. 3. the hull flexed a lot. 4. It was a centre cockpit which is a bad layout IMO for solo sailing. Hit me up here if you want to discuss further. info@vernondeck.com

Nah, I''ll be safe as, the cats mostly stick to the coast;) I'm just messing around, I've never even sailed a Cat but there is always so much niggle between cat and mono owners, I just like to dig a little as I think its a dumb argument. What makes you happy and allows you to be out on the water. There is no perfect solution. If I could afford and fast cat I'd get one but I have what I could afford without any dept and I'm out there enjoying it a lot!
As long as you are enjoying it; all is well. Looking forward to the upcoming installments. All the best mate.
Loving the boat tour and the small tips & tricks. Looking forward for part 2 :)
Thanks Jonas, glad you enjoyed it.
Great tour and a fantastic yacht thanks
Thanks Shaun, watch out for part #2 dropping in a few hours.
Hey mate! Respect. You look ready to go anyware! The price of freedom. And the trust of your shell.like a sea turtle.but faster!..i.m restauring a boat myself..another 6/7 months and join you out there!!! Sheers!
Thanks Alan. Good onya, get out here and start enjoying. What boat are you getting ready?
Love the form and function you got going on. We are in our refit stage at the moment. Can't wait to sail into warmer waters. :)
Hi guys. Oh yeah I bet, those long boatyard days will all be worth it though. Make it good and then enjoy it for years. What boat do you have?
Love the boat bro, my legs are shot and I wish I could do what you do. Thanks for letting me in your world.
I read " my legs are short" first go through. Mobility is a great asset crossing oceans but have you seen the guy who has nearly completed his circumnavigation with 1 leg and 1 arm?
I really enjoyed this tour of your boat.
Thanks Martin
Yeah top boat, absolute beauty, trouble with a boat like this is you need to be a really good sailor to get everything out of her. No point having a gem like this and you can't put it through it's paces, it needs to be sailed fast and well
Thanks. Yeah if this had been my first boat I would have been lost, overwhelmed and quite possibly had an accident and might not even been still sailing. It rewards you when you push it
Hey mate, what an awesome boat you have! Great episode.i love your detailed description. Planning on watching part 2 soon.
Cheers Dan, enjoy
you got a cool boat.
yes I do!
Awesome story mate .
Looks like a solid fast boat. Intelligently made. GLHF
Cheers Jan
1st rate vid and first I've seen of yours. Having lived on a inland waterways boat for ten years, done that..and now living on land but metres from the beach. Now I'm curious about the sea so look looking forward to seeing the outside of your boat. Looks like a sweet ride.
Welcome Rhys to my channel, I hope you'll check out some of the 100 other videos here.
I have gib sea 282 its so much room but I love a more performance boat if I had the money
Nice to go fast sometimes.
Really enjoyed, thanks
Love this boat as u said it's well thought out an perfect...just what I want... my dream boat....
Hey Donna, yeah my dream boat too!
1 tip banana's make other fruit and vegetables go bad 2x times faster better to keep them far away if you like your veggies fresh
Cheers. Yeah I was sort of aware of that. I'll often put unripe avocado with banana if I want to eat it sooner.
Alright Bro, great videos buddy. I'm a Firefighter in Edinburgh Scotland about to retire in 9 months. You are inspiring me to follow in your sailing path. take it easy man and hope to bump into you someday in the future and buy you a beer. Cheers, Doug.
Awesome Doug, congrats on the long career. Hope to see you out on the water somewhere someday. Let me know if you have any questions about getting started.
@@SailingLearningByDoing Will do, look forward to it. Videos are giving me a great insight so far. Best.
Great boat I am 75 and like old boats but yours really well thought out and I love watching it sail. What is your kettle ac or dc.
Lovely boat!! Full of character !!! Fair winds a cold beer!!!
Thanks Jesus
Nesting down on some old sails - been there done that, and I paid for the bloody trip too!
Haha, I'm guessing ti was still worth it?
@@SailingLearningByDoing Of course :)
Awesome boat, well designed! Looking forward to next video!
Cheers Steve.
Great detail, dude. Really enjoyed that. Happy travels!
Thanks Dacman
Such a cool and unique boat! Really enjoyed learning the history of it. Looking forward to the Oven Rotisserie Chicken episode! ;-)
Thanks mate. Might be a wee while before that episode makes it out.
What make of yacht is it ? Pretty neat set up
Pretty sure I said in that video of the next one that my boat is a custom built Sayer37.
@@SailingLearningByDoing Yes that is still an option, the supplier I'm speaking with has a 216Ah LiFePO4 which I may opt for if I can squeeze it in.
Very Nice Yacht
Great and uniq boat thanks for showing I was looking forwards to that !!!!
Cheers Martin.
You and the boat are a perfect fit.
Yeah I think so, thanks!
Nice tour! Thx
Great video mate. I’m jealous. As you know I thought about buying her too. You’ve done an awesome job making her your own.
Hi Graeme, had you told me that? Guess I forgot. Well I'm sort of glad you decided not to buy her as I would have ended up with much less of a boat.
@@SailingLearningByDoing Hi Vernon, I think I mentioned it in a comment once before when you first got her. I am more of a multihull guy so decided to keep going down that path.. I'm not sure if you've seen my channel - th-cam.com/channels/ZY3s9n7WO8xtni-qx5km7Q.htmlvideos It's mainly racing around Moreton Bay. some cruising.. It's not my boat my mate owns it I just get to sail it - and work on it... hahaha
great tour mate love the yacht mate looking forward to the external tour
I really like your boat looks like a great adventure machine to call home👍👍
Exactly Chad, you got it!
Love to follow you, keep up the great content!
Nice and clean setup.
Cheers from Germany 🤙🏽
Dennis
Thanks Dennis!
Great video!!
Great walk-around, brilliant boat!
The way you talk, like a custodian, feels right.
Thanks
thank you for the tour - much thought went into the design -
