I worked in 3D Animation for several years. The amount of work involved in even such basic animation is quite intensive. Combined with a well scripted instruction these videos are invaluable to sailors and want-to-be sailors. THANK YOU for providing this. It would take years, BUT, have you thought of creating an interactive instructional game where student/players would create their boats, rig them, outfit them with various technology, (also register them in a tax free haven 😜),then be able to sail them globally in every weather condition imaginable? If this already exists, please someone tell me.

@@searchingforcoconuts2248 seriously, I've had rope based dyslexia every time I get into the cockpit of my friends Bavaria 31. 8 Ropes running through jammers in an incomprehensible jumble at my feet!
Without any sailing background, you just go "gulp" and panic. Now I get the point of the sequence of kicker, topping lift, halyard, and why theres only one furling line (You don't need to unfurl right?) and what on earth outhaul 1 and 2 are. Its so much easier than when you'r heeling over at 40 degrees in a choppy Solent see, with two sea dogs screaming at you you're too slow whilst in terror of dropping the winch over the side!
I watch a lot of sailing channels, but this has been the clearest and most informative so far.....

The videos on your channel are superb. Coming from motorboat experience, I am just getting into sailing and have been self-studying the basics; supplementing textbooks and simulators (eSail & Sailaway) with youtube videos to wrap my head around all the new nomenclature and procedures before committing to the effort and expense of taking proper lessons.
I love the detail in these animations and the emphasis on clear pedagogy. Especially how close up views of the complete rigging paths (including routing, blocks, jammers, etc) of a prototypical bermudan sloop are added to a bare and de-cluttered vessel in a methodical and systematic order. And that the order components are introduced builds out from the fundamental purpose for each component, its rigging, and interaction with previously introduced rigging. The way your videos show each component individually highlighted with its nomenclature (including some synonyms) both spoken and displayed in text along with consistent color-coding and pacing is immensely clearer pedagogy than I've seen in virtually any of the books or videos I've looked at to date. And I love how when a new line or sheet is introduced, the basic procedures and safety considerations for hauling and easing it are described along with the constraining relations it has to other rigging.
For example, this video's explanation of what the boom vang/kicker does and how it works in conjunction with the topping lift and mainsheet is perhaps the first time I've felt like I really understand it: why it's needed over just the weight of the boom and mainsheet when sailing downwind to keep tension on the leach and prevent the boom from lifting (thereby changing the sail curvature and spilling the wind near the head). And also how it - when otherwise not noticeably impacting performance - affects other mainsail operations. Notably when, why, and in what order it needs to be eased or tensioned when hauling the main or setting reefs.
These videos are wonderful. Thank you!
