    Here's a pro tip, you do not have to remove the steering rack, just turn the steering wheel all the way to the opposite side of the one you are removing, then you can pull the joint boot down towards the outside of the car, there will be just enough clearance to remove that bolt without having to remove the steering rack, just need a zip tie to put the boot back on ;-)

      I watched your video when I was doing my car yesterday, and just couldn't believe Ford would be that stupid, luckily for me, I was right... Keep wrenching, I can't believe how much money I've saved by buying an old CVPI and putting some work into it, these cars are ROBUST!

      Would you happen to know the part number or a link to get those replacement swaybar clamps?; I have the bushings, but the OEM ones on mine are welded and I'm gonna have to cut them to pieces; If not, or if yours were sane from the factory, no worries!

    Why not just turn the wheel and slide the bolt passed the boot. Or you could just take the inner tie rod loose. But that should be out of the way if you turn the wheel.

    How about just replacing the lower ball joint by itself. Is that possible?

  • @damkayaker

    You're stretching the brake lines!

    • @damkayaker
      @damkayaker 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      *****
      0:53 You can see the weight of the caliper has the brake line vertical, and where the rubber line meets the metal line on the caliper it's evident there. Your video is great but you should have either put the calipers on cinder block or tied them up to something.

    • @weldingjunkie
      @weldingjunkie 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve never seen a brake line in my life get stretched from hanging in my life. I’ve done a million brake jobs. Steel won’t stretch and it take a lot to stretch the rubber coated lines, that caliper is light.

    I have question, on this instruction video I was actually mainky interested in lowering the control arm in order to lower the shock/strut, but then in middle of proceedure you just saud to remicr the lower shock bolt. Was there or wasnt there some hurendous danger if the spring flikEng away like some rogue cannon ball?.. or is thE NtIre apring deconoressed just by jakng up vehicL & thN lettinh lower control arm down?(Im looking for an eazy way to change front shocks w/oOt comoressing springs & have found NO youtube videos that address this basic point AT ALL☝️).. thNQ👋

    • @adventureoflinkmk2
      @adventureoflinkmk2  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is. Removing a strut or shock from a car is completely safe, so long as the center nut on the strut mount is intact. Remove that center nut that hold the strut spring down, and you're asking for dire consequences (unless you have the spring locked down of course)

      @@ezwa9979 well, about that... this is NOT a strut rebuilding video, this is a video on how to do lower control arms.
      Just remove the three bolts on top of the strut tower, and the one underneath. That's how the strut comes out. DO NOT mess with the bolt in the middle of the strut mount (that thing that mounts underhood).

    • @adventureoflinkmk2
      @adventureoflinkmk2  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      And yes, the spring stays compressed, so long AS YOU DO NOT mess with that nut on the strut mount... sheesh
