    I did it!
My 2001 B4000 now has new lower ball joints, upper control arms, shocks and camber bolts. I took it in for a professional alignment, but everything else I did myself - with your help! Thanks so much Chris. You made all the difference. I would not have done this without your channel. Keep up the great work!

Chris has probably got one of the most useful channels here, and a lot of the content doesn't really age because suspension technology hasn't really changed much on regular cars in the last couple decades.

This kind of snappy, well edited and condensed video is the ideal format for DIY videos here on TH-cam. The message, from author to listener, is that you respect my time. I wish all authors understood that.
    Thanks!

Hey Chris, thank you so much! I was driving the other day and the right ball joint on my car completely fell apart. So I investigated and found out I needed to replace the lower ball joint. I have wrenched on cars before but I've never really touched the front end/suspension before. After studying this video and tackling the replacement I successfully replaced both sides lower ball joints on my car. I cannot thank you enough for the excellent quality and straight forward how to videos you put out on this channel. Thank you!!! A shop wanted $320 per side and I spent $60 on 2 ball joints!!

Chris, could you tell me if I need to change them on both sides if only one side has gone bad?
And is it true that you need to change your tire rod and have an alignment after doing the ball joint?
And is it best to change the upper and lower at the same time even if only one or the other is bad?

I would fly all the way from Scotland to attend a summer school if you did such a think. As said I drive a 38 year old classic and the old adage is if you want it done right do it yourself. As there are so many shops will take your money and do a half hearted job at best. I don't believe that you would ever take a shortcut with any job.

A simple trick before installing the ball join is to put it in the freezer (or use can of air upside down right before installing) the night before so it'll shrink oh so slightly and be easier to install. Oh and blast everything the night before with PB Blast. If it's a classic car then PB Blast it a few days in a row before doing the work.
I take this back. dont use PB blast. use half acetone & atf fluid. it's a whole lot better and way cheaper. i use the old atf. and you dont have to wait either. learned this the hard way. used pb blast on exhaust studs. 1st one broke and then the rest came off with ease after the new penetrating oil formula.

Thanks for stressing the importance of torquing.
Several video's I've watched for this same task never mentioned a word about it.

Great job on this video buddy. I have an 2001 B2300. Mine only has 49,000 miles but it's getting a little crusty from the road salt and I need to replace the ball joints and tie rod ends as soon as the snow melts. This is the best video on the topic that I've come across so far. Thanks.

Finally someone made a vid showing how to use the press to remove and replace the lower joint. Don't know how many I have seen where they use a hammer.

Wonderful video very efficiently and very effectively recorded showing the captioned task without wasting time slots that leads to boredom in many other's productions. For your kind heart that wishes to serve the public in this manner the Almighty must provide you with good health, happy home and sufficient wealth. We will pray for you too. Glad to know there are people like you on this planet. You must part time teach in some college evening courses on these topics. You have excellent art of teaching within short time.

4:43 when I seen your video it looks so easy and straight forward. I have a 2004 Mitsubishi endeavor and it only has a lower arm and the tie rod end on it. O'Reillys said I have to buy the hole lower arm that has the ball joint. That's ignorance out of any auto parts store. But you make it so easy to apply this ball joint. So I'm going to ask any auto parts store for a ball joint becuse that's what it needs. Thanks. 😮

your video on lower ball joint removal was the only one of four by others that used any type penetrating oil or lube, myself use brake fluid in a spray bottle, good quick videos without all the mistakes I saw the others make trying to use an air impact wrench. oil very important part of a disassembly and assembly!

GREAT, I've got a B2500, so it's probably close to the same. But the big thing is that this can be done, but not to take it too lightly. Realize and respect what you are doing and you can safely and successfully accomplish this with your help videos. I always take my time when doing something along the lines of major automobile operation. Thank You !!

I liked this video , good job. When I was 310s automotive in Scarborough Ontario ,we rarely had blue lockthight sealant ,only had
Red ones for cylinder head bolts etc I think long as bolts are not forgotten to tighten you are okay without sealant s.

Hi ChrisFix. My 1999 Lincoln town car needs upper and lower ball joints. I went with eBay for parts. OEM Detroit. A lot less dollars. Also have to replace the pinion due to sloppy stearing.
You videos are the best on youtube for doing vehicle maintenance. Thank you very much.
