I'm swooning over that magazine that you have had since you were little! What fun nostalgia.
Your pairing of cork sandals and butterfly belt for that top is spot on! Love it.😍

    Grace, I loved this video!
I wish I could find the binder book. I think that I can learn a lot from it.
The 2nd top with the ruffles on the back looks so delicate (feminine).
Wow! The purses are beautiful. The one with the Simplicity fabric has so many beautiful details.
Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed the video.

You are so welcome! You can find that Better Homes and Garden 1970s book on eBay. Also I have a video on the ruffle back top. Just search for 6620 in my videos. I talk about the pattern and model it. Have a great day!

You'll have to buy a pair of white gloves to go with your '50's and '60's dress makes to complete the authentic look! My mother had a pair of black gloves also. Like your B6456 top, with and without the belt! Cute!!! The tulip sleeves sewn shut are a nice and I think I would have opted to do that also. I made my own high-waisted, flaired bottom pants after high school when Dittos were on the way out and Jordache jeans were the new rage. Loved the Dittos jeans, but didn't like the "saddle butt" style of them that was popular in the late '70's. So, I started making my own. Not hard at all! Wooden platform "bear trap" style of sandles were also popular. I saw a photo in your magazine of the popular "smock top" that was big in the early '70's. Oh, the memories!!! Also in the early '70's, we use to sew wide decorative trim on the hems of our Levi jeans and cords, because in jr. high, we were growing so fast and the trim allowed us to wear our pants longer and look cool, too! LOL!!! "Waffle Stompers" were like hiking boots (thick soles, leather or leather look, and laced up the front) and "in" then. Everyone wore them. I have some of that exact '70's vibe material in my quilting cotton stash that you have! I've got more that is very similar, too. Yep, reminded me of my teen years! Thanks for making this video and sharing your magazine and books, Grace! The memories you brought back! 🙂 I worked in a fabric store (my first job) in the late '70's. Knit fabric was pretty limited to "double knit" that old women had stretch pants out of and pant suits were made out of it, too. There was cotten t-shirt knit, polyester knits, and some men's plaid knits for pants (yuk!), but not really much else at that time. Knits then were just beginning to develope and evolve at that time. If you'll notice, all of the patterns from the '60's and and most of the '70's were styles made from cotton or cotton-blend material. Thanks again for this video!

Dori, My mother too had the white gloves. Jaqueline Kennedy was her fashion icon of the 60's. She loved Jackie's style. Who didn't?? I'm so glad I got to bring back some pleasant memories from the 70's. It was such a fun time for fashion and sewing. I hope to continue to bring you entertaining videos. Thanks for your comment. I enjoy chatting with you!

Thanks for the flip thru of your magazine and books! So amazing you still have them and they are in great shape!
    I love the butterfly belt!
I have some of the Simplicity vintage fabric (different prints than yours) and I had no idea what to use them for. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks Michelle. I've been in love with sewing since I was a young girl. I was poor growing up so I saved and preserved things like that. They were so precious to me. Pure joy to look at as a child and until now. I will show another Vintage 70s fabric I just bought at Joann's in my tomorrow #fridaysews video. Thanks for watching.

What a marvellous look back at those books. I also still have the first 2 books I got when I was about 8, my Mum also has her school sewing book from the late 40's but she won't give it to me! That's a lovely daisy blouse ( I can't resist anything with daisies😂). Also love the jeans with added floral detail, oh I wish I had an embroidery machine. Thanks for another great video. ❤
