The great thing about making sauce, gravy or sugo is there’s no right or wrong way. It’s all about personal taste and preferences. It looked delicious Ma! Saluti dal Canada! 🇮🇹🇨🇦
Part of my family is Italian and this is exactly how they make the "Sunday gravy" as well. So delicious. Except they use a mix of sweet as well as spicy Italian sausage.
Ma, i made this gravy (I am still accustomed to calling it "spaghetti sauce"...LOL) with all the same meats as you, and.....WOW!!! From this North Philly brotha to you: thanks! the family said it was delicious. I let it simmer for about 4 1/2 hours and it thickened lovely! I had to text my ex, who's a true South Philly Italian, and of course she said her gravy is better after I sent her the link to this video. She said you're definitely not a South Philly Italian by your accent. In her words, "I can't with her". But I don't care because your gravy was still da bomb! One thing all of you Italian women agree upon is STAY AWAY FROM JARRED!!! LOL Looking for your braggiole one of these days if you make it. Thanks again! Keep up the good work. I support you!
@@cookinwithma3305I saw that!!! That's awesome. I don't know if my request was the reason, but either way I'm grateful to you for that. Still turned out equally delicious! Grazie signora
I end up putting finely sliced and minced celery, bell pepper, onions, and jalapeno to add body to my sauce. Also, I cut the sausages up into small pieces, and add ground beef.
@@cookinwithma3305 Ah, okay. I actually use baking soda....it's incredible watching all the acid bubble away, and I am not having to add a source for added sweetness. I have also used a whole carrot, and then pulled it out at the end.

Fantastico bella Signora. Loved everything about this video. You're awesome! Loved that you fried the paste first. If so, plate it up. 🙂 We call pasta "macaroni's" too. I didn't know what penne was until the mid to late 80's. I was a waiter and they gave us a pre-meal sample of the special. The chef said the pasta is penne. After we tasted it I must've looked confused because he called me over asked what's the problem. I said no problem I never heard of penne we always called them mostaccioli's. He just shook his head. Ha Ha. What's up next "Schadole" Soup? Dio vi benedica.
I'm Irish, and my mom (born & raised in Belfast was not the best at Italian gravy. Although she tried it just didn't cut it. I learned from my Aunny Maria. God bless you, and my Auntie Maria!
Im going to have to try that crush tomato brand. Been using hunts. I wonder if there is a big difference? Also, did you say 2 cans of whole tomatoes? Or is tgat 4 cans of crushed tomatoes? The cans look different but they all say crushed. No onions? In the godfellas, you need 3 onions lol Also for the sausages, how come you cook the whole? Ive been adding a pound of hamburger and a pound of sweet italian sausage but i mence it up like hamburger meat.
Hi Kevin. I do not. I think it would Break up in pieces. If you chose to I’m sure the flavor would be the same. I do poke some holes when I brown them so they don’t pop

Yes. Sometimes I do.
