    This has to be the best sauce recipe I have watched, simple and straight to the point. I like to cook mine for 2 days to absorb all the flavors.

    My wife and I prepared and cooked all of the meat and onions last night. This morning, we started cooking the sauce and then put in all the meat. She kept telling me, "You're killing me" because of all the wonderful aromas. We just added some mushrooms because we love mushrooms. We've been tasting it all day (for salt content 😊). It is the best sauce we've ever tasted. Thank you so much for sharing.

    My maternal great grandparents were from Sicily➡️ NOLA. We ate Sunday gravy and meatballs EVERY Sunday as a kid, growing up in Baton Rouge. I’ve missed this ever since my great grandma and grandma died. Because of your video, it’s my turn to start the tradition for my little girls.

    Italian American immigrants when they came over here in the 1890's thru 1930's, they had to create their own recipes, because they couldn't find the supplies they could in the old country! They were astonished with the amount of meat there was, and learned to braise all different cuts to feed their families! I honor those immigrants, their courage and sacrifice, their hard work and most importantly their love, which is eternal!

    All I can say is O...M...G!!!!!! I followed this recipe and I feel like a chef. This was so good, totally unbelievable! I made the meatballs also. I didn't have breadcrumbs so I whizzed a box of Aldi stuffing mix and used some of that. Deep flipping licious! So tender just like you said. Other than the stuffing mix I followed to the letter. OMG people you can be a chef too! The whole house smelled so good I called the neighbors over just to smell. Nicole, you are the best cook, chef 👩‍🍳 EVER!!!!!!❤❤

    My oldest son moved to Japan. When I went to visit, the one thing he requested was my sauce. Having him come in the kitchen and constantly tasting it made my entire trip. I've never done the meat like that but I guarantee I'll be doing it from now on! Thanks for sharing your secrets!

    Thank you Nicole. I love your Sunday sauce. I used your recipe as a base. I use pork chops along with the pork chop bones...italian sausage, and italian meatballs. So good! My older son who normally does not like spaghetti tried this and fall in love with spaghetti. this is a game changee for my family when everybody actually loves spaghetti and you can just cook one thing instead of 4 things bc someone doesn't like the main recipe. But now, everybody loves the main recipe. LOVE LOVE LOVE this.

    Great video! Took me back to my childhood. My mother made sauce every Sunday morning without fail! Always had my bread and sauce snack! My Dad would have his second portion of spaghetti during the week. He’d broil it til toasty on the top. Delicious! I knew you were Italian, by the way you cook. Keep ‘‘em coming.

    Fabulous, Nicole, the last piece of the puzzle! We will have had enough turkey by tomorrow, so this will be our Sunday Sauce starting right then! I can get busy on the meatballs and if I get on the road soon, I can get to Birmingham for the sausage and be back in no time! Thanks so much for this recipe I will treasure! 😘

    i am 83 so have been making sauce for many years but every now and than i like to try others recipes i am making yours as we speak. i forgot to add salt and pepper to the meatballs something i have never forgotten they are still good . the sauce has been coking 1 1/2 hour so far .i only added 5 cups of water so far but tastes good. the only different thing i did was when i fried the meatballs i rolled them in flour like lida does that italian cook who has a tv show since she did it that way

    Your recipe is much the same as mine. Been making it for over 40 years. I use some celery diced up fine as well. Along with some crushed red pepper flakes & a good handful of Romano. My great Uncle gave me this recipe a long time ago. I make this for at least 10 or more.

    My wife and I live in Medellin, Colombia. (Originally from Houston, Texas.) This morning, I went to our big local market and found one of the pork sellers. They weren't hard to find because they were carving up an entire pig on the side table. I ordered 2 kg of "huesos de cuello de cerdo" (bones of the neck of the pig). They were happy to oblige. The total cost was 45,000 COP (about $10 US.) Thank you for sharing this wonderful secret family recipe.

    I learned this recipe from my Italian mother-in-law. The only thing different is she didn’t add the onion. I don’t know why. Maybe she didn’t like onion, but everything else is the same. She was a first born Italian born in America. I’ve made this recipe ever since she taught me when I was 20 years old. I’m 80 now. Wow!

    Love the Content and Technique Princess. This coming from a 100% Italian Family born and rasied in Brooklyn NYC. 8 hour "Sawce" ebetuung Pork, Veal, Bracciole right in that Sauce for about 8 hours. Used to get the wooden spoon from my Nonna because we would sneak and dip the best Italian bread that only NYC makes in the Sauce. Lol. Yes it's true it's all about the NYC Water besides knowing how to perfect this 8 hour 💎

    Also known as Neapolitan Ragu. It was brought to the U.S. by the millions of southern Italian immigrants. However in Italy, we never serve the meat over the pasta. The meat flavors the sauce, and only the sauce and pasta are served together. The meat is served as a separate course with vegetables after the pasta.

    Here in quebec Canada, i have a hard time finding neck bones! What meat can i use to replace neck bones? Is spare ribs would be ok? Thank's!

    • @MidiPunk
      @MidiPunk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've made it with ribs, both spare ribs and baby back. The spare rib batch was my most disappointing, bits of unexpected bone and gristle tend to ruin this dish. The hot and sweet sausages are key, they dump a ton of flavor into the sauce. I diagonal slice the sausage before searing, as she said it's a great base recipe and you make make it a million different ways trying to find what works for you. Kinda like smoking ribs... Smoke some ribs until they're ready for foil and then toss them in the pot. Cin cin, salute, etc.
