  • Once again a challenging makeover. I was looking forward to doing this one, thinking that the transformation from old to new would be stunning! Unbeknownst to me, this make over would be one of the most difficult that I have done.
    I knew I would have to create some missing parts but never dreamed that putting the model back together would be so time consuming, and would necessitate a second paint job!
    It is the worst moment possible when you have to make the decision and undo all you have done to basically start from scratch again. It happens from time to time and it is not very pleasant.
    As they say "If it was a walk in the park, then everyone would be doing it" - But it's not. The fact that it takes time and effort to get results are why the rewards of elation and satisfaction, when the project is finished, make it all worth while!

    Wow, what a fantastic finish! It looks great Marty! Everybody makes mistakes but the effort you went through to keep going and fix the chipped paint - and post the video, when you could have just quit, set it aside and worked on another car is a testament to your dedication and love for your hobby. All of us who enjoy your videos reap the benefits of that. Thanks Marty! All of your videos are such a pleasure to watch. They’re better than prime-time TV.

    Wonderful work, Marty. I am in awe at your dedication, not only to recreating fiddly parts of tiny models, but also your excellent videography. You've got so good at videoing your work that it looks like watching a BBC documentary or similar professional production. The viewer is never distracted by poor quality video or sound on your programmes and your friendly and relaxed speaking style make them a pleasure to listen to as well as watch.

    Marty another stunner, and a great finish. Your attention to detail and the completed finish is outstanding. But could I recommend that toaster in the paper as it might help your paint stripping of awkward corners!! Well done Mate. And to any "harpies" out there who might drip about time schedules, forget it because it's always worth the wait.

    Another amazing restoration there Mr Marty.
    I hate when I am working on something, finish, get the after shots taken and see numerous flaws I did not see while working suddenly jumping out in the photo.
    Your true fans don't mind an extra day or week of waiting because we love you and the quality of your videos and not the quantity of videos produced.

    Hello Marty, I’m so sorry you had such a hassle with this one. The fact that you had to build the hydraulic rams from scratch and repaint the whole thing, is a true testimony to your professionalism and yes, your being a perfectionist. But that’s why we love you and your channel. But, me thinks it’s time for a easy, breezy, original Moko Lesley makeover. Thanks, take care. See ya next time.

    Great restoration again Marty, that one was very intricate, it's sods law you always find the part or tool you need just after you've bought a new replacement. With regards to paint stripper, i seem to remember a time when you had to use petrol to neutralise it before it would clean off, I remember adverts for water soluble paint stripper coming out, it would have made it a dangerous and difficult job to use on models if that was the case today.

    • @tygrkhat4087
      @tygrkhat4087 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've heard the expression "sods law" in passing reference on some English shows, but I didn't know what it meant until now. The one instance where it happened to me was I had thought I had lost one of a pair of gloves. So I threw the one away. A week later, I found the other, and had to throw it away.

  • @Badgermatt-nc5nr
    @Badgermatt-nc5nr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great work as usual!! Just a couple ideas for you to try if you like. For the axles, find a local welding supply store, or even a local shop, and get different gauges of welding tig wire for aluminum. It will be about the same as the rivets you use, maybe softer depending on the alloy and it is different lengths and diameters. Also to avoid the chipping and wear problems putting it back together, use a low tack painters tape to cover the areas you will be touching to protect the paint underneath until you are ready to unveil the final product. Hope these help a little. Keep up the cool work.
