Second playthroughs of games you can only play once are so, so understated. One time I decided to replay Outer Wilds just to reread all Nomai logs to try and sort them chronologically and figure out who's related to who and where they live (never ended up finishing that) and only then, at a random campfire on Timber hearth, did I notice for the first time that there are tins of canned sardines with fish that had *four eyes*, just like Hearthians. On second playthrough, you start to notice things you would've never noticed on the first playthrough without context. Names that were just a noise at first suddenly fit in the world's timeline. You notice new props and background objects that you previously just ran through. Games are SO much better the second time you play them.
That’s true, for the story it can be valuable to replay, I guess I was just thinking more about how the gameplay will never be a mystery to you again and outer wilds specifically can be beaten in like 5 minutes once you know how.
The games which I wish I could play for the first time again are: Rain World, Outer Wilds, Inscryption, Half Life Alyx and any of the Souls games (without knowing anything of the rest as well, so that I could go on this journey again). I started with Bloodborne, and I think it's my favourite out of all of them just because it was the first one. If I would have started with Dark Souls 1, that would have been my favourite.
