- Todd starts off the day asking for his Jingle Ball and we play until he is tired. Then I bring out three new words for him. Belly, Treat, and Help.
Todd is a 6-year-old neutered male cat at the time of this video. Todd and his dad have been learning to communicate with each other since May of 2022 with the help of recordable buttons. We aim to let Todd express himself and tell me his wants and needs. Currently, Todd has 51 words on his soundboard. This channel is dedicated to Todd learning to “talk”. If you would like to see more of Todd and his day-to-day life please visit his Facebook page.

Our cat kid, always uses the help button in context to others needing help. If he sees I need help, work And he always uses the food button in context to when he knows I'm hungry.
They are very in tune to us
Amazing
That is adorable! And amazing!
Wow! So smart and caring. That's so sweet.
All three of Dad's bosses are irresistible.
Thank you 😊
Todd is the Sup-fur-visor.
😂
Todd's college application:
Varsity jingle ball player with a 4.0 average.
Feline first language, English second language.
❤😅
😊
Absolutely Luv Your Comment! 😁
Now we can all see Todd's belly button! 😂😂😂
😄
Giving a cat a way to ask for treats may be dangerous. I did that without words. I tought 2 of my cats to give me kisses for treats - whenever they wanted treats, they came and kissed me. One would use her paw on my lips if I did not give them to her. My 3rd cat (the only one I have left) never would give me kisses. She was smart enough to let the other 2 ask, and she would get them also. Once the other 2 were gone, she had to learn to ask (and you know darned well she knew what a kiss was, but she's just never going to do that). Now she just sits in her treat spot and stares. And if she is ignored, she bangs on the treat bag. Also got her Delectables and started giving her those at my desk. Now when she wants one of those, she comes up on the desk and sits in front of the computer until she gets one. And if she is ignored too long, she starts batting stuff around and off the desk. I have to lock her out of the room sometimes. Good luck with that button! I hope Todd has more self control than my cats!
They already have their ways of begging for treats 😊
Treat button can be dangerous but becomes important if you want to bargain treats for taking pills or so forth, like Kendra did with Billy.
😂😂😂
Fantastic.
Thank you 😊
Todd there all like "I'm not sure I get this new 'Treat' button, can you model it for me a few dozen more times, Dad?" And Glamour's all "Model it for me too, even if I don't use the buttons!"
Who wants to take bets on how long it is before we get Dad-Help-Treat-Todd-Belly
😄
He sure has his strut down the "catwalk" perfected!
Yes he does 😊
OH, NO. Not a TREAT button. They'll be no peace in the house after this🤣
😄
There are the “pantaloons” again. Love them 💗
Me too!
I think everyone knows what "treat" means, but somehow the good fishies are not to everyone's taste, maybe? I don't know. They showed up fast enough, though....
😊
Fear Of Missing Out is one of a cats central motivations! 😸
Very important buttons for if he has pain in these areas!
Agreed
"Keep it upstairs buddy". ... roll jingle roll bump jingle roll on wooden floor downstairs. yep. cats.
😄
I love watching Todd play
Me too :)
I dared you to touch Glamours belly, but apparently you DO have a survival instinct 😂
Ot with a couple of units of whole blood on stand by.
He’s so cute! I love when he jumps like a bunny down the hall. Lol
I know, I love to see his pantaloons bouncing down the hall.
Really like how you have the camera angles set now, shows Todd to his best advantage. 😀
Glad you like it
If you added a shaking bag sound to the word treat on the button, all of the kitties would probably learn the word, even if Todd is the only one to use the button! 😂
Lol, they all know the words already 😂
At *treat* everyone was there ;-)
Yes, they all know that one
❤️
😊
Lol! He really wants that jingle ball downstairs.
Yes, he loves how fast it goes on the hard floors and how loud it is.
I think Todd is the up & coming star for a new sport, cat soccer!
😊
My kitties love playing cat soccer with springy toys!
It was so cute watching Todd flying tackle the jingle ball when you tossed it up over the bannister- he sure does love his jingle ball! Very exciting to see Todd learning new button words! Love to Todd and the family from across the pond 🙂
Thank you 😊
I'm curious to see how Todd does with help. Just a difficult concept to learn, I think.
No harder than Before or Then. He's smart and a quick study who loves to learn.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks Oh, he's brilliant and I expect he'll figure it out.
I do think it's actually a harder concept than time.
In any case, I'm curious to see how he does in picking it up.
Of course they already know the treat word - but they have been wondering why on earth Dad didn't install a treat button at the start!😂❤This will be interesting - I wonder who will use that button first?😂😂❤
Todd is the only one who has interest in actually pushing any buttons, unfortunately.
I was thinking the exact same thing- all three cats already knew the word treat! And a soon as they were hearing it the other two cats “appeared” out of nowhere. I was certain that at least one other person had commented on this so I went looking, and here it is! 🤣
Exciting,new buttons.
Treat button,might be the new fav,over jingleball.😂
Thanks for sharing.❤
You are welcome 😊
I missed the live chat, but fluffy pantaloons more than make up for it 😉
👍🏻 It wouldn’t be Sunday without fluffy pantaloons
Next time!
Wondering if some kind of portable "curb" could be developed and placed on the floor when Todd asks for his jingle ball, to block a batted jingle ball's desperate, repeated attempts to go downstairs.
I've done that, and he wants it to bounce down the steps. He then jumped up on the banister and dropped it over the edge. Given his balance issues, I would rather get up and get it when needed.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks has he ever shown interest in a bouncing small rubber ball?
Todd learn new words is good 😊😊😊😊
😊
So now Todd has a belly button! :D
Sorry, could not resist this perfect Dad Joke opportunity. 😂
Good one!
His little pants! SQUEE!!!🥰🥰
😊
Love the new buttons. Look forward to seeing how Todd uses them. I suspect one in particular might get worn out…Glamour and Paulie might even use that one 😂
😄
Obviously it's great to use repetition for learning, but Todd gave me the feeling he was like "yeah yeah i got it, i know Belly and I've seen where you put the button."
The way Todd lies with you and looks at you when you're giving him mew buttons never fails to melt my heart ❤
He is always observant and concerned whenever I am work on his board. I think he is afraid if he is not watching, I will move a button, and he will lose the order they are played out in.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks I knew Todd is serious about his buttons, but I didn't know it was *that* serious!
Oh my goodness we gat a treat to we saw the 3 fur babies at the same time that was great I guess they all know that word treat love it !!1
😊
I love all three of these babies 😊
Thank you 😊
Nice that Todd chews his treats, so good for his teeth❤
😊
Dad teaches Todd new words - Todd teaches Dad new toy ❤
😊
You’ve got the whole crew of fur babies today.. wonderful video I wonder if you may regret doing the treat button lol
I may but but I wanted to give him something special for taking the Crazy Hamster button away. Even though he didn't use it after the Glamour incident his board is important to him and he would sit there and look at the empty hole where it was. This should make up for it. :)
So Mr. Todd seems to be getting a bit lazy on the jingle ball return! I think he's manipulating you feline style. 🙃lol
Probably, lol
the other cats look jealous of the treats
They could have eaten some too!
They don't care for them. When the fishys are gone I will try freeze dried chicken
Oh no, Dad! You gave Todd a treat button. 😁 He will drive you nuts with that word. 😂🤣 Also, doesn't Todd have a Belly Rubs button? I hope everyone is doing well.❤
Yes, he has a belly rubs button. These are body part buttons. Head, tail, leg, back, etc. There are so he can tell me if something hurts ot doesn't feel right.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks Ahh yes, great!
Aw I missed most of the chat because I had a phone call. Watching now. Thank you for the upload! 😊
Glad you are here, sorry you missed some of the chat
He does seem very excited to have new buttons! 😇
Treat in belly! Mmmm good. That will distinguish the body part. He already knows belly rubs, perhaps as one word since you also say pets or rubs interchangeably. We do that sometimes too. 🤭 oops.
I am a little concerned on the different uses of “back”. I say “get back” at the door to keep my cats scooting outdoors, and you also say “bring back” then there is his body part aka “back”. Not quite sure how to get around that so for my cats I don’t use the body part “back”. Not certain it’s important but cats are on the toddler level on language so being consistent And word choices that are not confusing seems to be best. English has many of those challenges. “No and “know” is problematic so I use “understand” instead of “know”. Can’t always be that careful I suppose.
Todd has surprised me by using his "No" button for No and a few times the only way I could make sense of what he was saying was using it as "Know" which I say to him but have not taught it. Cats are incredibly smart.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks that’s is interesting 🧐. Yes agreed they are smart although there is variation.
happy Sunday from Wisconsin!
Same to you!
Can we hear him purring?
Often you can.
Lol, treat might be a bad idea
Time will tell lol
Hi Todd & Dad 😸. From NC
Hello there!
🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤
Thank you
I predict that Todd will use the Treat button responsibly 😹 I'm sad for an old cat who was learning buttons during COVID lockdowns in 2020 when he was 12 years old. He's had kidney disease for a while, and also got an annoying little sister weanling kitten at the same time. He did learn the buttons, but only wanted to use Treat, and it was constant. His human suffers from some mental disorders, including anxiety, OCD, and ADHD, and also works from home as a telephone representative for a major company. So that constant use of the Treat button quite literally drove her nuts. Customers would ask what that repetitive "Treat" thing was all about, and I think it downgraded her evaluation score. For whatever reason, removing the buttons entirely was the solution she went for, which is so sad. I understand her struggles, and feel bad for her, too, but it's just so sad for this old cat with chronic kidney disease. She did bring the buttons back out after a long time, hoping he would communicate health issues, but he pressed every button until he found Treat, and then he was on that thing like white on rice. So she put the buttons away again. 😿
Todd has been using the button responsibly and is asking for a treat about once every other day. That is a very sad story about the kitty and the buttons. Everything I had read says treat or food should not be introduced until after button use is well established just because of what happened with the older kitty.
Hmm, why was Glamour pressing the button?
I don't believe Glamour ativate any buttons.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks oh I’m sorry I thought that was her who kept pressing belly. She was in front of the camera
Again, you are rewarding him for not bringing it back, by continuing to play. He is smart. Also you have taught him to not bring it directly to you, by doing the same thing, getting up and getting the ball. And continuing to play.
I disagree, Jingle Ball is a game HE invented on his own. It is pure fun for him. If he wants Dad to participate more, then that is fine. He knows he has to bring it all the way to me if he wants me to play while I am sitting at my desk working. Away from the desk is just about Todd having fun.
He looks like hes slightly limping on his Left forefoot?
Thank you for letting me know. I looked at him and he seems fine. Todd may appear to limp, stumble, trip, or fall over if he tries to stand on his back legs. Todd has a chronic condition that can affect his balance. That's not to say he can actually be limping, which is why I appreciate anytime someone lets me know something they see. I will always check him out.
I wonder why he's dropping it out of reach now, instead of bringing it to you, like it seemed like he always used to.
I'm not sure unless, possibly, he is wanting me to participate more.
