Love your site! So helpful. After your reviews, I think the Outsize Plus would meet my needs; however, how difficult is it to hold down the switch in order for it to work? I'm active, but wonder if that feature would be troublesome?

I have the V8 and I absolutely love it. It’s light and the running time on one charge is sufficient. I’m 76 and I run out of energy before my Dyson does. I would assume the larger ones are heavier, so I’m very satisfied with mine and I see no trouble in holding down the handle while vacuuming. I haven’t used my corded vac in years and the central vac the builder installed I haven’t used in 10 years because I was always tripping over that darn cumbersome hose - it was dangerous😀

I have a Dyson corded and a Dyson cordless and love both. We have 3 cats, one who sheds a small kitten worth of fur seasonally, and the cordless is handy to keep his favorite spots clean, plus general clean up in the kitchen and entry. The big Dyson is necessary for keeping the mostly carpeted house clean.
I had to replace my cordless Dyson a few years ago due to a bad connection somewhere.

I have two Dyson vacuums and have had others. One is a ball floor model. It picks up so much dust through broadloom. I use the V8 for hardwood, tile, and oriental rugs. Both are fantastic. It looks like the lasers are worth exploring. Dyson vacuums never set off my air purifiers; that's how good the filters are. However, for a quick job I use the Fuller carpet sweeper and the air purifier fan kicks into a higher gear briefly to clean the air of dust.

Coming from a heavyweight Hoover upright that is on its last legs, I'm really looking forward to switching to a cordless. The only thing that gives me pause about the Dysons is that they all are bagless. I'm allergic to dust and dust mites, and I never want to just dump a bin of dust and debris, and hope that I close the lid on the trash fast enough. I want it to remain contained at all times.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain these dyson handhelds…I love my lightweight Oreck uprights and agree with you that dragging the canisters around is totally inconvenient.( I have Miele canisters and mostly get out for cleaning tight spaces, and sofas etc)…we are moving into a newly built large home soon and I plan to get at least 1 dyson handheld…so my choice of often used vacs is light and easy!

Wish I could give you 2 thumbs up. First time on your channel and am very impressed with your review. Means more to me coming from a professional cleaner. Wife wants to go cordless and after watching you suck up a ribbon with zero issues I was sold instantly... cause im the one who has to deal with cleaning the rollers!!! 😁 It's worth the money to not have to do this. One critique I have would be to offer some idea of the longevity of these cordless vacs. We have owned multiple corded dysons. One has lasted over 15 years. If I'm shelling out $$$ I want to know it will last for years to come.

One of my client has a dyson v8. I was so impressed with it I want one too but I don’t have the big budget for it. So I went with the Shark ultralight Stratos. Mainly for it’s no hair wrap advertisement. Greatly disappointed when it come to hair on the roller and the air. Cause I’m quite short, the air hit my face quite often. However the corded shark is lighter than the dyson v8.

    Awesome and informative video.
we would love to have one in for repair ( they hardly break so we don't see too many )
from our experience as a Dyson repair shop they are reliable, powerful and efficient vacuums as long as they are serviced / maintained especially the filters and dust bin,
the batteries eventually grow weaker so be sure to read up on the charge cycles for optimal battery life.
The warranty is also something amazing as they have covered a lot free of charge to our customers .
if one comes in we will post a video about general maintenance for them

We use a Dyson V11, and I'm mostly happy with it. I like the laser on the V15 detect and I want some of the other features, but I haven't spent the money yet. Hey Dyson... make a V16 detect that has the power-on button instead of a trigger to pull, and at that point I will upgrade from the V11 (even though the V11 still works fine). The "detect" is their top of the line and it's expensive, but if I can get a power-on button plus the laser plus the anti-tangling features... yeah, I'd upgrade to that immediately.

We have owned and still own several Dyson products. I can’t explain the level of frustration we are experience with Dyson Support in resolving a problem with our V12. In less than a year the Motorbar cleaner head is inoperable and doesn’t work. So far we have been sent two replacement cleaner heads. Both were the wrong heads. It’s has been such a time consuming experience, with any resolution in sight. We are looking into unloading and selling all of our Dyson purchases and will tell everyone we know to reconsider their own purchases.

Would you please do a video on how to clean a Dyson vac? I've got a V11 Animal. While I have done the regular dust cup emptying and filter cleaning, I'm not sure how best to clean the clear plastic brush head cover or the plastic dust cup cover. Also, got any suggestions on how best to separate the parts from the long main stick tube thing? I always have difficulty trying to pull it apart no matter how much I push in the buttons that a there for that purpose. It's stuck and takes a lot of time and effort. I've actually gotten my finger pinched.

I started with a Dyson V11 and everyone around me had a v8, telling me the vacuum was a disappointment. I got the Dyson V11 as a Christmas gift and my first thought was.. oh.. it's going to be shitty. But holyshit. The Dyson V11 is the real deal. I would recommend the V11 if you are going to spent much on a vacuum cleaner anyway.

I just returned my V11 animal+ that I got from costco in early 2020 (its now feb 2023) because of the 2 major defects it had completely killing it, luckily with costco's awesome returns we got $484 back of the $550 or so we spent. What first went wrong was the battery coming loose (we never tried taking it off ever) and making the machine cut in and out, then around 2022 the trigger broke, I tried to fix it but that went absolutely awful as the screws were coming out (and still going in, mind you we never touched them also) at 45° angles. I did some research that said the V10 and V11 were some very poorly built vacuums but hopefully this new V15 platform has no other ways of being defective (the trigger has been redesigned and so has the battery.)

We live in a 3100 sq.ft home and use Miele's top line for main vacuum.
We avoid our built-in vac as the hose is huge and too cumbersome
We're looking for something that helps with the constant, daily quick cleanups; couch crumbs, kitty litter and other bits between the kitchen mud room - but nothing too extensive.
It sounds like we'd need to go with the larger model just to get the better suction.
It's strange they don't have demand for the better/higher suction but in the v8 form factor (?)

Really enjoyed this video and the detail concerning the differences. I recently purchased the Dyson Animal Ball 3 Complete and the Dyson Outsize Absolute cordless stick. Probably overkill to get the Animal since the Outsize Absolute is promoted as an upright replacement but I just wanted the best and I'm a a little bit of a nut. I find myself LOVING the laser feature of the soft brush head on the Outsize. Plus I'm literally swimming in attachments since both vacuums included all of the accessories that Dyson offers. I'm literally thinking of asking my bi-weekly maid service to keep cleaning as usual but leave all the vacuuming to me.

Interesting: There ist no outsize fluffy head available. And: Most V11 models have "click in" batteries..

I bought a Dyson v11 from Costco on 2/2020; loved it until it was getting finicky..floor roller stopped spinning, cleaned everything out, took it apart, had 2 vacuum repair stores look at..they said the design of the canister and how the connectivity between the attachments , the stick, and the main unit has major engineering issues.. I’m on the fence of the plain cost of $750 for a vacuum that may stop working right after the warranty expires.. Also their customer service for returning your calls is not good either. It’s tempting to give the Dyson another try, but $750 for maybe 2 years of service is something I’m very Leary of.

Thanks for this video, just in time for me.. I'm in the market for a stick vacuum for my birthday. I have a tiled unit with 2 carpeted bedrooms and a rug in the dining area and a smaller rug under the coffee table in the lounge. I already have a great vacuum that literally would suck your clothes off (if you happen today get too close) while I know the Dyson is good it's out of the question, far too expensive for my budget . I really only need to vac the bedrooms and two rugs . My big vac can still do the big jobs and I have a dry mop (enjo brand) I love it cos it just whisks over the tiles in around 5 minutes. So it's just the carpeted area where I need a stick one . I sure get what you say about the corded variety only that mine sucks like a beauty I would dispose of it. So thanks again for your views on the vacs .love your videos

Hello Mam, what is a good vacuum that will help me with High Pile, Low Pile carpet, Hardwood floors, Car cleaning. I was thinking to buy one product that can handle and have accessories for all these 4 tasks. Corded is fine and budget not constraint.
I am tired of getting all the cheap ones on Amazon and want to get a real one.
Please advise when you get a chance.

We weren't sure about the V12 or V15. We are a large house with all hardwood floors with a few placed carpets. We have been using an Electrolux Epic 8000 canister vacuum for almost 20 years, and it still works great, but my wife used the V8 at someone's house and loves it. She is sick of carrying the Epic upstairs with hoses and attachments. We purchased the V12 and V15 to try out. The lighter weight of the V12 and the push button might be best, but we will see. Thanks

My wife insisted on having a Dyson cordless vacuum like her sister's. However, her sister bought her Dyson years ago. The current reviews for Dyson cordless vacs are very disappointing. We ended up buying a Roomba and couldn't be happier. Mainly because we don't have to vacuum the floor anymore. Rufus the robot cleans the floor. All we have to do is hit the corners with the $60 vacuum.

We bought the V10 after using the V8 for several years. The V8 is still my favorite. Taking the long rod off and using just the plain nozzle makes it so useful cleaning other tools… like my Roomba. The V10 canister makes it too long to be used in this way.

I know it can seem insane to spend this much money on a vacuum cleaner, but honestly it's worth it because I would never clean anywhere close to as much with a poorly designed vacuum or cord system. The ease of use (great tools, wall charger, easy maintenance, hands-free cleaning) makes me use it almost on a daily basis. So yes, it's worth the money because it's being used probably 50x as much as cheap products.
