We had an Animal 2 that we had to get rid of this year, as the brush bar MELTED in an area and completely stopped functioning. I've never seen anything like that, although to be fair we had it for at least 5 years. After having 2 Dysons (I think the previous was the original Animal), I decided to make the switch to the Shark NV752 TruePet Upright and I have to say the headlights on it are pretty amazing (also the price point was a little better than Dyson - whether or not it will last as long we will have to see). So if Dyson can incorporate the lighting AND the long hair feature (my hair always gets tangled on the brush bar and it's a PITA to clean off), we would def go with Dyson for the next vac in a few years. DYSON ARE YOU READING THIS? DO ITTTTT. I would like to get a wireless handheld Dyson for my bday next year or maybe after tax season.

As a vacuum service technician, From this lineup I prefer the Dyson V8. It is the most reliable and easiest to maintain over the long run. I have seen enough problems with the handset and dust bin on the V11 to say I prefer the V6 or V8. The only 3 Dyson Ball units I would recommend are the DC40, DC41 and DC65. I would avoid any Dyson model that begins with "UP" (UP13, UP20 etc) they may look similar to the DC models but they are not the same quality.

@@kaiunforgiven Dyson quality has really dropped. I also don't like their Cinetic system which eliminates the pre-filter and passes dust through the motor and into the expensive post motor filters. My first Dyson was the Dyson Animal. It worked great, but my biggest beef was that when you used the attachments the flex hose was really stiff and it made using it really like "work". I've graduated to the V11 Outsize since when I bought it I lived in a house with both carpet and hard floors and I wanted the advantage of a larger "swipe". I liked the fact that it came with 2 batteries and when I have to use the tools, I find it easier than struggling with the attachments and flex hose on the Dyson Animal.

I absolutely love my v15 detect for laminate wood floors…. Vacuuming in late afternoon/night is so efficient. It’s amazing how much that little green light illuminates!!! And, of course the power of the vacuum itself is unbeatable. The price is definitely worth the investment. I mean we use it everyday, just about, so it is definitely a wise investment. I find myself vacuuming everything and more often because it just works so damn good!!! If you’re on the fence, just do it.. I got mine using Klarna.. paid for it in 4 payments, which did make it a little easier than one large payment.

I like your practical approach...especially the "who is this for" and asking what they want/need to do with it.
We have a very good corded canister vacuum we love. BUT our 1960s-built house does NOT have enough electric outlets for the needs of this century, which makes it too much hassle to hunt for a plug when we just want to do spot cleanings.
SO...we decided to order a Dyson Omni-Glide (love that swivel head for tight spots and getting around furniture legs without moving everything, plus getting under couches and beds easily because it goes flat. Dyson had a sale which included a free tool, so we selected from a list the mini motorised head to vacuum sofas and beds.
Ok, it doesn't have a lighted motor head, the bin is smaller the battery life shorter than other models...but it looks perfect for use as a quick grab and go touch up vacuum. We even sprung for the lighted wand... that looks handy also. 😃

Been using the Dyson V5?6?7? (cannot recall exactly) animal for years. Worked like a charm until last year an issue with the filter closer not snapping shut after you empty the bin. Eyeing cordless for years but I was one of those who was reluctant based on bin size and holding a charge long enough to complete the whole house. My teenage daughter helps with vacuuming sometimes and. got a lot less help after it became an issue with the machine. Last spring I sprung for the V15 on a good sale price. Mostly after research the 15 seems to have solved the charge time and the bin is almost as large as my old vacuum. But guess what? After purchase it literally it sat unopened the box for 6 months. I notice I will occasionally let myself buy a luxury item like this vacuum (after a long wait deliberating) but have a hard time letting myself use it. Just me?
SO I am finally putting it together today while watching this video! Two things are a bit of a bummer. I didn't recall that it has 2 main heads, looks like you need to switch from the laser head for hard flooring to the large anti tangle comb head for carpet. What I liked about my previous machine was the auto sensing from hard to soft flooring and one head. I like not too many tool changes and choices and this has a ton in the box. I think I probably will not use them all.
The other bummer is on reading the instructions you have to be careful hanging the wall mount that there's no wiring, plumbing, or air ducts behind the wall you drill. into to hang it. We've lived in a rented home for 6 years with unfortunately very cheap soft drywall. I doubt I could hang it anywhere (perhaps with a stud behind) but also I have no idea how to tell that there isn't any wiring or pipes behind the wall. Especially if I choose to hang it above a socket so it can charge, there could be wiring behind. The closet where I planned to hang it has no sockets in there, so if I successfully found a good location to hang it where an outlet is, it will hang like an eyesore in. a high traffic space or next to my kitchen table haha. But already because I'm renting I cannot risk wall damage or inadvertent plumbing or wiring damage. Thus there goes my silly little dream of hanging it neatly on a wall charging dock out of sight but accessible like in those clean with me videos by bigtime rich youtubers haha.
Fortunately it does have an option to charge just the main component with the handheld device, which will sit awkwardly on my floor but at least I can still charge it! And some part of my tired brain must have thought of all this months ago because it seems I also bought a vacuum floor stand where you can hang it, which I will keep in my cleaning closet when not in use! I hope it solves this concern. The only downside I think is that either it needs to charge and then put away. A week later when I go to vacuum it may have lost a lot of charge, then I must charge again before use. Or if I don't bother and charge it first before use, it's a bit of bummer if we are ready to vacuum and realize we must wait to charge each time first. Just goes to show that sometimes efforts to solve an issue in life can create new unforeseen issues.
Maybe I will post an update on how my vacuum saga turns out haha! I will say that in the grand scheme of life this is a very small first world problem to have and I know I am fortunate just to be able to own such a luxe item in the first place, which I probably don't even need and most in this world cannot afford. I think it will be a very nice device, very useful. My hope was to enjoy vacuuming more and vacuum more often without tripping over, vacuuming over, and managing the cord, which would motivate me to keep my house cleaner with more ease. Because I am a very stressed busy and tired single mom. And my daughter is keen to try it, so if she helps more- bonus! It's also much more lightweight than the corded animal. Cheers! xo

I can't afford a Dyson, so I got a secondhand Roidmi f8 storm. It's actually wonderful if you have a small house. I always use it at the lowest setting and it still picks up everything, including pet hair (I have a very hairy, very sheddy dog... I know what I'm talking about, trust me). Battery lasts a decent amount of time if you don't use it on the higher setting, it's really sturdy, really lightweight and the attachments are so smart. It does not even take that long to fully recharge (approximately 2 hours) and it's so compact I can keep it in a drawer along with my spray mop so my cleaning supplies are out of sight. If I can think of any cons I'd say the bin is not that big, but it's not much of a deal if you empty it after every use.

I recently bought the Bissell Helix Turbo Pet Hair Eraser, and I find it every bit as good as the Dyson Animal... but hair doesn't get caught around the brush of the Bissell, and it's half the price of the Dyson! My Dyson lasted 7 years of absolute abuse (large, long haired, very floofy cat who sheds his weight in hair daily, year-round), so we'll see how long the Bissell goes, but so far I'm very impressed. I still have my Bosch Unlimited, the batteries aren't as good as they claim, but the vacuum itself still going strong after 2 years of very hard work. I'm still sad that Lux left the game, they used to be top of the market in New Zealand before Dyson took over.

I have the $125 model that Costco carried. I think it’s the Navigator model. I, too, have a mix of carpets and hardwoods. I can switch on or off the beater bar. I still really like it. It’s super easy to clean up, too. You just have to remember that if you clean the filters you need 48 hours or so to have them dry completely.

I recently got my first Dyson. I held off for years not realizing that they offer a payment plan. You can pay a smaller price each month, interest free till you pay it off. Had I realized this, I would have got one years ago. I was going to finally get a $400 Dyson but because of the payment plan, I ended up getting a newer $700 Dyson. I love it, It’s the best thing I’ve ever bought. I previously had a $150 stick vac from Amazon and it was nothing more than a glorified dust buster

Went over the carpet with my Dyson and then the Bissell and I couldn’t believe the extra dirt the Bissell picked up. In fairness my Dysons were older models.

I do love my Dyson Animal pro for my throw rugs & wood floors and misc pickups when this vac is made a hand-held using the attachments! ❤️❤️ I haven’t used the more expensive vac’s on my wall to wall carpets, so I can’t speak to how these vac’s work.

Sure does! Just get an absolute model. It comes with the soft velvet roller head for wood floors. Or if you do the upright, purchase the flat out head tool for wood tools. Do not use these vacuums on carpet powder or kitty litter. It clogs them up.

The cordless vacuum is good for all the quick touchups and use in between using the regular vacuum, but it shouldn't be your only machine. You should also have a regular vacuum for the heavy duty deep cleaning and high traffic areas in the house or office space. But when I saw the price for the Dyson Outzise cordless, my wig was snatched and blasted into the Delta quadrant.

I heard, actually, it doesn't pick up the hair so well. I have seen demonstration where the vacuuming was done and after the brooming of the carpet. It was astonishing how much hair was left behind. I believe they are big on name. They become a trade mark, and due to that many people don't "seem to find" any fault with it. It i like they not suppose to be bad, they are Dyson after all. The price is very high too and they are never on sale. Which makes it totally unaffordable.

Our house is a 2000 sq feet ranch and it does a great job. Some days I don’t get the entire house done on one charge but I leave the bedrooms for another session. No big deal. There are only 2 of us who live in the home. We had a 2000 sq ft Victorian house and it did an amazing job there too. We have a full sized Dyson too but it is a heavy beast. I rarely use it. When I do a deep clean, I bring out the beast.,

Thanks for all of this great info! I love Dyson and have used them for over 10 years or so. I’ve always used the upright plug in vacuums but am looking for a cordless. I just hate holding down the trigger to keep it going…other than the smallest, lightest one do the other have an on/off switch or do you have to hold it down the whole time?

    • @cleanmyspace
      @cleanmyspace  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

From my knowledge, only the Omni-Glide in their stick collection has the on/off switch. The rest have the trigger. I can understand the pain point with the trigger, so maybe a Dyson Ball is better suited?

It's done to maximise battery life. It improves efficiency as you only press when you need it. With cordless vacuum battery life is key so it's imperative they maximise that through forced features or removal of some.

I’m 5’ tall and petite. I have a dyson animal v11 and it’s a height challenge for me to remove canister from the stick to empty and to put back together. Also with a small petite wrist the weight is heavy for my hand and arm. I wish it was lighter in weight. I love this vacuum unfortunately it’s made for average height humans.

    • @cleanmyspace

Next time you're in the market for a new vacuum, I would check out the Dyson Omni-Glide. I think you'll be impressed with the size and light weight. It won't last as long, but it might make for a better vacuuming experience for you.

I have a v11 to supplement the central vac. I'm having issues with the bin and run time is very low. If you run it in high you might get 6 minutes tun time. Central vac is best if your building new or your house currently has it. The unit is mounted in the garage typically so any dust that escapes is in garage not your living space not to mention lots of suction!

To solve the problem of long hair or debris interfering with the rotating floor brush, I recently started a pre-vacuum step which really makes a difference and the vacuum is doing even a better job if that is possible. There are companies that make large tacky lint rollers with long handles to be used on the floor. It's great on the carpet, tile, laminate, hardwood. I no longer am cutting off the hair from the floor brush.
