      @@bbuggediffy I have the original DC 07. It is so repairable and easy to work on. I won't need to buy another vacuum. It's really good at picking up. Then on vacuuming wars recommendation I bought a Dyson V10 about a year and a half ago. Another great vacuum. Between the repairability of my original, and the performance of this new vacuum., I don't see myself needing another one.

    • @pacepace75
      @pacepace75 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@parkerbrown5614So I JUST bought the V12 on 9/15/24. In my house I have: low pile (loop weave) carpet, hardwoods with very low profile rugs (Ruggable & large hand knotted Kazak), tile kitchen & bathrooms. I have 3 insanely sheddy Scottish Fold cats. With the regular (non laser head) it does a fantastic job going from carpet to rugs/hardwoods. I will say this has the smallest canister size of all models, so if you have pets , you will be emptying out the canister every 4-5’. This model is DEFINITELY for light/spot cleaning due to the teensy canister size. I need a bigger canister so essentially this is like a souped up dust buster for me. I’ll keep it bc it’s lightweight and can use on couches, cushions, car, and spot cleaning around litter box. LMK if you have any more questions. Also the laser head will shame you into cleaning more…you may think your hardwoods are clean until you snap that puppy on. Holy Moly!

      Do you think the bin capacity is enough?

  • @robh3518
    @robh3518 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    With two large dogs, upgrading to the outsize was a game changer. The bin capacity on smaller versions is the weak link in my opinion. I would vacuum regularly but the bins would have to be emptied multiple times during cleaning or else it would get over filled and start pulsing. For pet owners it’s outsize for the win.

    • @amberfrombama
      @amberfrombama 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you feel like the outsize is too heavy? I’m thinking of getting the gen5 outsize! I like that it’s a on and off button too not a trigger.

    I have had the V12 since it was launched at home and could not be happier about it. One note thou. I did bought a separate aftermarket floor stand for the vacuum as I did not want to put it in wall. It makes it much more easier to use and relocate when needed as it can hold the vacuum and also charge it in it and hold all the tools in it for easy to use. The original wall mount attaches to the stand.

      @@generationwolves V12 is not listed as a compatible model in the Dyson stand. Also it does not store but only one accessorie. So it is much more expensive and not as good. And btw. out of stock from Dysons website.

    @mikeg3888 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    FYI, I bought the V15 Detect total clean from Costco and it has the upgraded green laser that turns on automatically and has no switch on the fluffy head so this is not exclusive to the gen5. I believe Dyson are retroactively introducing this to new supplies of the V15 and the V12 so this is not a reason to upgrade to the Gen5. Also something to look out for if you are looking for a V15 or V12 as retailers like Amazon are still selling both the upgraded version and the older version.

  • @sbomorse

    I've had a V10 for about 4 years. It's taken some proper drops and it still works fine. I can't even justify replacing it as I rarely use it now I have a very good robot vacuum. I certainly couldn't justify the expense of the Gen 5 - I've bought much cheaper cars!

    • @jt5029
      @jt5029 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Honestly after cleaning with the gen5 detect i can say its worth it. if you have hard flooring, your robot vaccum is missing a ton of dust dirt and hair that the vaccuum gets easily...i was shocked at how dirty my floors get and how fast they get dirty. i vaccumed 4x in one day and there was still hair to be cleaned...

      @@jt5029 as a physically disabled person it is not possible for me to vacuum with my Dyson for anything other than spot cleans/deep clean on carpet. I'm more than happy with my latest Roborock's performance. Nothing comes close to Roborock in the robot community 👍🏼

    I've had a V11 for four years and it's still going strong. My previous V8 and V6 only gave me about 2 - 3 years of life each. I wish the Gen5 series would allow you to pick the size floorhead you need. I'm thinking of getting the Outsize for the larger floor head because I have quite a big house. However, I'd prefer the smaller bin size because I don't mind stopping mid-cleaning to dump the bin. I just want the wider floor head.

    Bought a V10 last week. Capacity is small, so I've started vacuuming every day instead of weekly or when needed. 2 dogs are tough to keep up with! Having not used the other models, I don't know what I'm missing. I'm sure if I had the option to try them all out I would appreciate the higher end models. But for the price ($400) I think its a fantastic value. Its eliminated having to use a hand held, hard floor, and carpet rug vacuum. Also bought an upright stand which works great.

    one thing i wish you could throw into your test is real world materials. Im not vacuuming up cereal all the time, more like debris by my pets or children (small cardboard pieces, lint, fluff from chew toys, kid toys like small legos that get out of the box, chewed up plastic from a puppy, snack wrappers that were missed being thrown away, small twig debris from outside being tracked in, leaves). I spent around 400 on the shark vertex pro and i threw it away in my trash. It got clogged from anything and everything and i bought it because of your tests. I had to make a small tool to remove the debris because a small piece of cardboard the tiniest thing, clogged up the tube daily. I got tired of it, listed it for sale, didnt sell so i threw it away. I was happy i did.

    Dyson should probably consider developing cordless upright vacuum.
    They did incredible work miniaturizing motors and improving battery life, but over time their handheld models still grew significantly in size. Although the bin size also increased to the more practical levels, the emptying experience is still miserable. The dust is flying around, undermining otherwise great HEPA filtering system.
    Just imagine the possibilities of bigger form factor combined with their latest technologies.
    I like my Shark Vertex Pro, but I miss cyclone system of my previous Dyson. I would probably pay more to get best of both worlds.

    I love Dyson stick vacs and have had 2 of them - the V8 & V12. But, I don't think the new screw brush head is that great. It beats any "turbo" brush roll because it doesn't bog down, but it has huge gaps at the edges and doesn't pick up that well. The V8's mini brush seemed better. The laser on the V12 is useful and the realtime particle counter isn't useful.

    Personally, best combo for me was V15 for general home/everything use. The V8 for beater/rough use. The V8 Absolute for me is the best companion to keep my car/garage clean, places that might have outside grime more than inside grime. The V15 stays as a home/inside only vacuum.

    How often do the batteries need to be replaced? Two-year warranty. $150 cost per battery. Consumer Reports doesn't recommend any cordless vacuums because of battery problems.

    My V11 torque drive came with the adjustable gates which I use ALLOT! I would hate to get a new V11 without it, seems like a downgrade. I use the soft roller from my old V8 and it works perfectly on the V11. Awesome channel, love how thorough you are.

    Just upgraded from a V10 Absolute to a V15 Absolute (The V10 battery was dying and the rest of the machine was starting to be worse for wear).
    The difference between V10 and V15 was far more than I expected. The 15 seemed to pick up far more stuff, the bin was fuller at the end of the clean than the V10 bin usually got. Though that could also be due to the fat that the smaller hard floor head and the low-reach adaptor which meant I could get under some furniture I wasn't able to get under before.

    Based on weight, suction power, and dustbin design, the V10 is hands down the best value. It's basically a V12 without the light

      Thank you. Ended up getting an v11 last night. Vacuuming is an every day things I must do because my dogs leave a lot of hair and I had concerns about the small canister having to be emptied 3/4 times.

    @stevehastings2010 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    We have the V11. Overall I have been pleased with it, but I'm ready to buy a Gen5 because we would prefer not to have to hold down the trigger.
    The V11 does not have a removable battery. However, if I keep up with the vacuuming, it has enough power to do all the vacuuming in one go. And it's not the end of the world if I have to do part of the vacuuming, let it charge, then finish. (I kept my old Dyson ball vacuum, in case I need a cord vacuum, and I really never get it out.)
    We have longhair cats, and cat fur does get wound around the tool's bar.
    The "detect" laser feature wasn't enough to get me to replace a perfectly good V11 with a V15 Detect. The on/off button, auto hair removal, "Detect" green light, and swappable batteries in the Gen5 mean that I will finally replace my perfectly good V11. I'll probably give the V11 to someone.
