    Summary:
In this video, we take a closer look at the Dyson V12 and V15 vacuums and their four major differences: weight, power mechanism, performance, and dustbin size. As a long-time user of Dyson cordless stick vacuums, I’ve used four different models as my primary vacuum over the past five years.
The V12 is my favorite due to its new push-button start and lightweight design, making it perfect for those with smaller homes and primarily hard floors. Its lightweight design also makes it easy to use for extended periods and is great for cleaning out cars and furniture when used as a handheld.
The V15, on the other hand, is a great choice for those with larger homes or lots of carpets, thanks to its extra power and larger bin. However, this increased performance comes at the cost of added weight and the trigger mechanism, which can be less comfortable to use.

Thanks for the review! Seriously onsidering upgrading from a v6. In my case I use it mostly on hard floor to vacuum our australian shepherds long hair - he shed so much. One of the major issues is that I end up using only the crevice tool since all other heads quickly get stuck with hair. It doesn’t get tangled hair but doesn’t clean perfectly either. You mentioned you have dogs as well. How do you think the new motorhead on the v12 handles those?

I’m a professional housekeeper and I currently use a cheaper cordless vacuum for work. It’s great for hard wood but lacks the suction power on carpet unless I use the turbo mode which drains the battery fast.
One of my clients purchased a Dyson Outsize. After using it, I saw just how much more powerful it was compared to mine. I decided to purchase my own so I’m doing research to see which model would be the best fit for me.
I’m only 5ft, 98lbs and the Outsize is too heavy for me and I don’t like having to push the trigger button.
I’ve been thinking about v11 and v15 but after this review I might have to consider the v12. Thank you for the detailed, informative review.👍

I have a bad back & can't use my upright anymore. My friend suggested a Dyson, she has the v15. I was almost going to buy it at Costco on sale for $499 but decided to do some research. I saw that the v12 was lighter & had the on/off button. I was pretty sure that's what I was going to buy, but to make sure, I went to her house today to try out the v15. No way. Too heavy & I kept changing hands. You are WAY stronger than I, & to hear that you change hands often was a bit surprising, but comforting. Thanks so much for this video, because I know I will buy the right model.

I bought 2x V12 and extra batts recently. Weight is the key attribute among tradeoffs. Pointless V15 being superpowerful but difficult to hold and manoeurve for long, deep "DETECT" clean due to its heayweight - the very purpose of the laser detect theme. In Asia, users are relatively petite and homes have more hard floors and fewer carpets. Sleeky fluffy roller works far more agilely and effectively over torque motorhead roller in this regard, esp when the latter torque head was modelled after older versions and not V15. V12 was launched after V15 proves the point. Obvious lack of deeper understanding on the priority of attributes important to users thorough consumer research. Suction power isn't everything! Stronger suction also means noisier!

This is one of the best Vacuum comparisons between V12 and V15. I was about to buy V12 for vacuuming rugs and hard floors, but you changed my mind. V12 is not powerful enough to deep clean rugs/carpets. I really wanted a V15 because it has more suction power, but I don't like the trigger on it. It will be best to wait until Dyson upgrades V15 to have a push button start/stop option.

"This is one of the best Vacuum comparisons between V12 and V15"
      100% agree !!!!
I had gone for the V15 but have now opted for the V12.
      The reason:
      - lighter in weight,
      - You don't have to hold down the button.
      - Dirt removal from V15 container is more difficult because it is longer, and that is difficult if you have small hands.
      - Only have hard floors, so don't need a lot of suction power like with carpet.

Hey great video! I just wanted to point out that you are severely over filling the bin on the V12 when you are vacuuming. With how much hair and dirt that was in your bin it should have been emptied 2-3 times. The reason all the dirt and hair gets stuck when you are emptying it is because you are going way over the max fill line which clogs up the bin and bypasses the cyclones making any fine dust and dirt go straight to the filter

    • @power_moves
      @power_moves  ปีที่แล้ว +2

If that's the case, I'd have to empty the bin every 15 seconds? That's just naturally where hair ends up for me. In the scenarios demo'd, there was hardly anything in the bottom of the bin.

    • @gingersmith9953

I wa really weighing between v15 and v12 but decided to go woth the v12 and still, I still think about how much nicer the uscction power would be. But the main thing was I knew that even some 500grams difference in weight would be significantly different when you use it more than a few minutes. And if youre using it for more or less daily house maintenance an ocassional mess i knew the v12 would be the better choice.
At first, not knowing how much suction it really is, i thought the sucction was pretty weak, but whwn i tried it, it really is because of that well designed attachment that made it effective. And if the sucction were stronger it wouldve definitely been heavier as well so its kind fo a sweet spot.
But in the furture, i hope they standardised all the attachments, so if you have one beig used for year and broke down or something youd be able to have spare attachments if you buy the newer model. Also im glad to hear that the suction dont eally feel different in eco or medium because, i thought the v15 can sort of run on the same suction power as the v12 on its turbo mode, while on the v15 medium mode that would mran you can vacuum at the suction power of v12 turbo for 8x the duration and that wouldve made it more difficult to choose between the 2.
Also it would be perfect if theyre able to also make it possible for you to connect the charger and use it, so you can use the turbo mode longer, even if its limited because the heating might be an issue its still would've been better than having it under10mims.

When the switch is off, the trigger turns it on, when the switch is on, the trigger turns it off. Too good to be true I know but to me that would be the ideal vacuum.

I had a Dyson DC17 Animal for 16 years! But I just bought a V15 Detect because it was so much lighter. I'm getting older and lighter is better for me now. I watched your review just to see what the differences are. I'm sure I bought the right one because I have cats and lots of cat hair. I think the larger dustbin will help, but it is much smaller than the DC17 Animal which is .66 gallons. Even with the .66 dustbin, I usually had to empty it at least twice during a vacuuming session. As for the handheld on the new machine, I'm probably going to keep my Dyson V6 Handheld because it is smaller and lighter and works great. Thanks for the review. Very helpful.

@@power_moves Tried it out for the first time today and the V15 Detect very well, but what surprised me is that it did wear out my arm pushing it around on carpet. My old DC17 Animal was easier because the floor tool had more self-propulsion on carpet. And I think I'd rather have an on/off button rather than the trigger. But I still think the Dyson V15 Detect is a very good vacuum so I have no regrets. I also liked the light on the hard floor tool. It was very helpful to see the dust on the floor and see it gone after a pass. Tomorrow I'm going to test out the dusting tool. Fun times! lol! Oh and I still had battery life after doing half of my house. The dust bin was adequate too.

Thanks for great information. I am still using a very old DC35 cordless and a DC54 ball vacuum. I want to get one of the current Dyson sticks to replace both. I looked at everything from the V8 to the V15 and think the V15 is the way to go for me, for these reasons:
      1. Our dog sheds a lot of hair, but my wife is way worse, and it’s long, thick hair. (She agrees, and will laugh if she reads this).
      2. Our house is medium size, but two levels, so bin size matters for emptying.
      3. We have some big, deep pile rugs, so power matters.
      4. I don’t get enough exercise as it is, so I welcome the workout, my wife feels the same.
Your video helped with our decision and I think the V12 is a great addition to the range, for a lot of people. For us, it will be the V15.

Id like to add one question and id like to get the answer. Auto mode suction is changing power level depends on how much dust is on the floor. I can´t get rid of the feeling, that V12 is just changing power level all the time no matter if there is more or less dust. Only consistent power level is on carpets. On tiles for example is just changing all the time.

    • @power_moves

Yes, the Dyson vacuum cycle up and down often, but in my experience the V12 and V15 do this in the same way.

  • @alicea5
    @alicea5 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

I wish they have both the option to press or click turn on. Sometimes I just need a very quick clean up where the press would be great - especially when vacuuming my car.
Majority of my house is carpet and we have 3 women with long hair so I think the V15 is better suited but I rather go with the V12 for the weight n lower price. I think the V15 with it's price just isn't worth it. I have never had a vacuum that could actually vacuum up majority of the hair from carpet despite what the ads/reviewers says it can do - and thus I doubt the V15 can actually do that too.

Just got my v15 recently and as a small and definitely not muscular woman I find it super easy to use. Holding the button doesn't bother me even though first I thought it would. Suction was also important to me as I have a cat too. It did an amazing job on my rugs, sofa and bed. I have a Dyson DC37 which I used prior getting the v15 and it was very heavy and difficult to use when vacuuming upholstery. So compared to that using v15 feels so easy and fun! 😊

Several mentions/comparisons of the V10, but not a word on the V11? I've seen a couple of reviews that conclude the V11 performs better than the V12 & certainly better than the V10. I'm doing research before retiring my V8 & getting a V11, 12 or 15, but so far I'm leaning toward the V11, as reviews favor it and it's way less expensive. Sticker shock is an issue many have with Dysons, so shopping for a remanufactured or an open box (but new) Dyson you'll find lower prices.

thank you so much for this video. I was really stuck in between V12 vs V15. Ultimately chose V12 primarily because.
    1. My parents love to vacuum, so weight is a huge factor,
    2. The fact that there is a button to switch on & off instead of the always press on the trigger button set up on the V15
    3. I live in an apartment, i dont need such a huge tank for dirt - Even if it gets full, its just a 10sec job to get the dirt out
    4. Mostly hard floor, have a few carpets in the house but thats alright. I know V15 cleans better for carpet, but i am fine with just a basic cleaning on carpets.
    5. Compact and cool head attachements - i think thats pretty sweet!
    6. Never tried a Dyson product, but excited to give it a shot after my phillips cordless vacuum died on me
Cant wait for it to arrive and test it out. Cheers everyone!

This is not acurate for pet owners. The v6 / v7 / v8 style vacuums will trap hair in the inlet and in the container. The digital motorbar anti tangle head is great too. Nothing gets stuck there. Go for the v15. Yes it is heavier but you have no hazzle with that one. The hair gets stuck in the V12 because there is less space between the container and motor unit, similar to v6 / v7 / v8 or the container is way to full. there is max marking on the side. You don't want the content to go over the silicon ring around the bottom of the motor unit.

V15 collection bi is too small if you have ant kind of carpet that sheds and it fills up above the half way line efore eedingto which adyson say you are not supposed to do. The presenter failed to show there is a button on the v15 collector that you can press to remove it totally which is inelegant but makes it easier to empty than fishing by hand. V12 for carpet that sheds would be useless with its tiny collection bin. V15 is noticeably heavy and for our medium density triexta carpet has more than enough suction ob eco mode and with the brush head set to least powerful setting
