    I bought an F150 XLT super crew shadow black 3.3 L V6 XTR package just 3 months ago and I'm so impressed with its power,efficiency and comfort for its size even though I choose only a base engine. I also liked its 4x4 system which is perfectly fit for the slippery and snowy roads here in Alberta,Canada.

    I also recommend the 2.7. I've got a 2017, just hit 10K miles, and this thing is a freaking blast to drive, comfortable to be in, and super capable!! When I step on it I definitely make my Toyota and Chevy guys at work jealous!!! Especially since I get like 21 mixed mpg!

    • @CameronKelson
      @CameronKelson 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well duh it gets the same mpg as a V8 when towing. Anytime those snails are spinning it's gonna suck fuel. The difference is that when I'm NOT towing I don't have to live with the 17 mpg that my buddy's 2016 Tundra gets all the time.

    • @CameronKelson
      @CameronKelson 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What kind of moron would ever want a 4.30 rear end?? And I'm not worried about the "plumbing", after 7 years of putting turbos in their trucks, we would have heard about frequent turbo failures, especially considering Ford sells almost a million trucks a year. Plus, the turbos are BorgWarner, so they're some of the best available. There are dudes out there with 200K on the 2.7, and lots of people have hit 300K with the 3.5. I'm not saying everyone's experience will be the same, but these engines are holding up pretty dang well.

    Was recently at a Ford dealer in Houston, TX. I swear out of 2 full rows of F-150's, they were all literally $55-70k. And none were even Raptors. I don't see a raptor being $55k unless pre-owned.

      You guys realize that all cars, even American cars, are most likely mainly built of foriegn parts or whatever. I think it's super closed minded to say I only buy "American" as it's not really American. I think a Tundra is the most American while if I'm remembering correctly. It's a global economy. Why do we kid ourselves with loyalties that only serve to support sometimes I forget products. I will never understand it.

    We love our '15 2.7tt XLT version with the 6 speed auto; now over 50k miles on it, great for road trips and city traffic alike. The only annoying feature was the Start-Stop which I deactivated manually every start, until I learned it can be disabled permanently by jumping two wires in the back of the on/off switch.

    I just got the F150 platinum 4x4. It is so sick. You can start the truck from your iPhone X via the app. The biggest lie is 26 mph. Best I have gotten is 21.5 on the New Jersey turnpike, 17-19 around town. Electronics are sick with Apple car play. Heated/AC leather seats with massage is da bomb on long drives. The twin turbos are great but the 10 speed trans gets a little mushy with all those gears to go through. All in all. Love it

    I love my 2018 F 150. The 2.7 litre turbo is a great engine with lots of power and great fuel economy. (25% better than my 2014 5.0l F-150). Two things I'm not fond of is the little emergency break switch. No more pedal. The other thing is Ford needs to redesign the tailgate a little, it has an inward swoop if you look closely. It means when you go through a car wash the brushes don't seem to be able to clean the rear properly. Otherwise it's a fine truck.

    While I'm NOT a Ford 'Fan Boy' (or Gal!) Ford offers the most usable features. GM products are good, but for some reason the company refuses to put in many features I want. Like push button start, rear A/C vents, full LED lighting, a 360 degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, etc. We'll see what the new 2019 Ram offers, but at least with Ford you can option a truck for as much as you want or need.

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do the Silverado and Ram truly not have those things curently?

    • @barbaraschenck5691
      @barbaraschenck5691 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Alan... I know it's hard to believe but NO they don't! Ram, with the RamBox and cleaver recessed storage areas in the rear cab, has done a much better job than GM integrating technology and innovation into their truck line up. But both manufacturers are WAY behind Ford. I mean Ram is the only manufacturer NOT to have a damped or slow opening tailgate! Really odd! GM offers NO 'in-bed' storage solutions, and NO USB ports for rear set passengers! In 2018... are you kidding me! Ford has cargo ramps that can be stored in the bed of the truck, and taken with you. I think the 2019 Ram's will make big improvements. I'm hoping GM does as well, but I'm not holding my breath. Sorry such a long response, but as a prospective truck buyer it's a bit frustrating why manufacturers take the approach they do. Happy New Year!

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Barbara. It is a bit strange, but Ford is known for its continued innovation processes in many high selling models, so it does kind of make sense why they would be slightly ahead of the game. Both Silverado and Ram will debut a new model soon though, so we'll see how they attempt to even the playing field.

    The XLT FX4 3.5 Ecoboost is on my very short list, to be mated to a cabover pop up camper that I'll be traveling in extensively when I retire. I've looked at all the current 1/2 ton trucks, but I keep coming back to the F-150. The new Ram, with its innovative rear suspension and class leading interior, is a very close 2nd. I've never owned either of these trucks, but whatever I choose needs to last 20 years and it will spend a lot of time off-road, so it needs to be well put together. Between the two, I probably trust Ford a little more to last long-term. I like the fact that it's aluminum, a huge plus for longevity and weight, which is important since the lower weight allows more payload capacity for the camper. Anyone have an opinion... F-150 or Ram for hauling a camper and moderately frequent off-roading?

      F-150, it's been the best selling vehicle for 40 years straight, while the Tundra (despite being cheaper) can barely move 100,000 units per year. F-150 also has best in class towing and payload, best in class MPG for a gas engine and is also the only full-size pickup to ever earn an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

      +guy proulx If you take a look at the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) ratings, you'll see the Tundra is rated either poor or marginal (depending upon the type of crash simulated) for lower leg and foot protection.
      The F-150 on the other hand is rated good in all crash simulations for lower leg and foot protection. So your knee airbag isn't helping much, or the Tundra is such a poor design, that even the airbag can't help it.

      +guy proulx Ah, the old fleet sales BS argument. Tell me why the F-Series has the 2nd highest average transaction price, only behind the GMC Sierra, not the Tundra (which has the 2nd lowest ATP)? Do you think fleets are buying $60,000+ trucks?
      "how about the thousands and thousands that are sold every year as fleet sales? " Ford sells roughly 3/4 of a million trucks per year, a couple thousand fleet sales isn't a big deal. Not to mention the fact that fleets want a truck that isn't going to constantly be in the shop costing them money, so that in and of itself is almost an endorsement for the quality of Ford trucks.
      "let's not forget about the HUGE incentives" And yet, Ford still has a higher transaction price than Toyota. Also, lets take a look at the real incentives Ford is currently offering on an F-150.
      The largest discount Ford is currently offering is for a 2017 F-150 XLT SuperCab/SuperCrew, it's $6,000 retail customer cash. Or you can take 0% financing for 6 years through Ford Credit, however you'll only get a $1,500 rebate if you take the special financing. Toyota doesn't have their offers listed on their website, it just says "contact dealer for incentives" so I did just that. I went to the website for my local Toyota dealer and instantly got hit in the face with a pop-up advertising 0% for 6 years on 2018 (not 17) Tundra's, 4Runner's and Tacoma's. Ford is not currently offering any special financing on their 18 models, only leftover 17 inventory.

    An F-150 was towing 2 dirt bikes here in Europe, and everyone was staring at it. A Bentley Continental passed minutes later, and almost nobody saw it. Strange.

      @John Doe it was Bulgaria, sorry I wasn't very precise. Of course you see expensive cars all the time in London, but anywhere in Eastern Europe, they are gems.

    Why did I buy a Ford!? I bought a 2017 F150 Lariat due to it having a crew cab and 6.5 foot bed. Within 2,000 miles the value cover gasket started leaking. Coming from a 2007 Toyota Tundra that was great for almost 200,000 miles I already regret buying a Ford! If you are considering a Ford make sure it has a warranty because you will have issues! I can't wait for Toyota to come out with a crew cab and 6.5 foot bed...which I heard they will have in 2022 models. Fords have serious issue around the oil pan, transmissions, they feel cheaply made compared to Toyota and I guess the value covers are an issue too. Buyer Beware of Ford!

    When trucks are designed for utility (work) and most of the comments only care about criticizing the looks while ignoring the stupidly good reliability and functionality (it’s the only reliable Ford).
