- #Unda is a Malayalam-language action comedy film co-written and directed by Khalid Rahman and produced by Moviee Mill and distributed by Gemini Studios. The film stars #Mammootty, Shine Tom Chacko, Jacob Gregory and Arjun Ashokan. The music was composed by Prashant Pillai. Harshad co-wrote the screenplay. It progresses when a nine men police unit from Kerala led by Sub-inspector Manikandan C.P. is sent to a Maoist affected area of Chhattisgarh as part of the election duty.

As a fan of malayalam movies and BR's reviews. This is just delightful for me.
The role played by mammootty sir in this film ohh a big salute to him for his guts to accept this role. I am sure that no other superstars in India will be dare enough to do such a role of a police officer with no heroism and getting insulted by his junior officers and someone who hiding behind walls afraid of the villans. Hats off sir you are the most versatile superstar in the country

In my opinion 'S.I Mani' in 'Unda' is a milestone charecter glaringly performed by Mammooty and also one of the best in decade.Even other so called superstars did'nt get to play such a role..
@Matt Blaise the 'big worthwhile projects' you are talking are things like Lucifer and Pulimurugan which honestly are crap films. If he had been concentrating on projects like Drishyam, I'd have agreed with you. As it is, he's just making money. Which, fair enough, that's needed. But let's not ascribe noble intentions to his pushing of boundaries.
And honestly, its been so long since we last saw Mohanlal the actor rather than Mohanlal the star, its valid question if he's even able to reach the heights that he previously did.
Saw this movie yesterday. Man really Malayalam cinema has balls to go out of the box. And a legend like mammoty doing the role of such an officer. I don't think any actor in the country with such a big star value would had done that. Well done
At the end when Police officer says he want to visit this place again looking at the map of Chhattisgarh. ❤️

The man having a falcon on his head whom only S I Mani(Mammooty) sees intermittently is a charecter in the book 'Aathmaakkale thirayunnavar' (The one who searches for souls)which he reads always while he is in the camp..And there is a description about that person as 'Goluram' in chapter no.5 of that book which also evinces in a scene.And it's the painting of him on the binding of that book...👌👌🔥🔥

Got a sense of Newton as you’ve spoken through.
The change in settings (urban to rural), the agendas of the higher officials, the lobbying of the political parties make up the flavours of the story. And this movie has similar lines of ideas too..
I thought Newton was more realistic. The despair of the locals I think was played down too much.. but maybe it suited the overall tone of the film?

Dear reviewer, you got it all wrong about the theme. This movie is a message to Kerala and Tamilnadu folks who support the ugly casteist beliefs, who support exclusive northie ideology about India. It says the reality, and it says how anti-human is the north Indian Jay sreeram politics is.

Bro it isn't the copy or remake of Newton .It's a movie made out of a news report during the 2014 general election. The only thing common for both movies is the concept of Democracy.😐😐😐
