It's a completely original and enjoyable traditionally animated Danish cartoon by the title of "Help I'm a Fish" that was released with a changed title and cover in America to cash in as if it was a rip-off. Completely undeserved.
I think "A Fish Tale" is meant to be a rip-off of Shark Tale, not Finding Nemo (although I guess Shark Tale could be considered a rip-off of Finding Nemo, or at least trying to ride off of its success).

The higher staff are overworked and stressed, and the lower staff, myself included, are extremely biased, practice favoritism so regularly that I got in hot water for pointing it out, and working conditions are generally miserable, even for the lower staff who are unpaid volunteers and work from home. There are almost always undertrained, assholish, biased, or just plain dangerous to the apps and their communities staff. Please, there are better communities. For those who aren't aware, "A fish tale" is actually called "Help, I'm a fish!" in Europe, where it originally came from. It's hand drawn with a tiny bit of decent looking cgi incorperated just for large elements only, like in osmosis jones or the iron giant; and it looks beautiful. It was animated in a Danish studio and Alan Rickman himself really is in it! It's a good movie but like most early 2000s hand-drawn movies, it bombed in the box office. I'm pretty pissed that the American DVD had to change everything in the front cover, giving it a generic name and shitty bootleg cgi. That surely didn't help it at all.
A weird coincidence was that Madagascar 3 had a plot about the main characters joining a circus in 2012, a year after Open Season 3 (a direct-to-video movie) had a very similar premise.................. Also The Black Cauldron was very underrated.
For reasons beyond my comprehension, The Adventures of Lucky Pie is actually surprisingly good! But it's a rip off....... But it does it's own thing and has new stuff happen! But it's so blatant.... But it's really creative and somehow has a charm to it! It's such a weird show....
So I was watching Chicken Run a few days ago and for the first time I realized how similar to A Bugs Life that movie is. They are both about a community that's terrorized by someone powerful, and they have to give something to be safe (the ants give food, the chickens give eggs). Then there's our protagonist who wants to change the way things are and they end up finding someone to help, but them end up being a fake. In the end they build a bird and defeat the bad guys. The weird thing is I watched both movies a lot since their releases and only now I see this.
Thank God someone remembered that movie exists. I did like Chicken Run, though. It got kinda dark in places for the same people who made Wallace and Gromit. Both are very formulaic, but in different ways.
True Story: I actually owned BOTH Antz and A Bug's Life. In fact, I watched Antz as a substitute of Bug's Life. Until I stole my elementary school's copy of Bug's Life after gym class showed the film and never seen Antz ever again.
It just hit me, you ARE StarFox, look at the facts, you sometimes use Fox's Reflector for icons, you use the Melee select sound, and on multiple occasions have used songs from StarFox.
He's good and he does deserve more recognition, but for the most part his more recent videos have been lacking in quality progressively and I getting more recognition would only encourage this type of quality.
The Bug's Life vs. Antz arguement is easily settled by what's desired more. Purely family entertainment or more adult themes? Because the big difference between the movies is the audience they cater to. Hell, this has become the basis for every Dreamworks vs. Pixar film. Dreamworks caters to older crowds, Pixar caters to the 'family' crowd.

Antz was too scary for me as a kid. There was a scene where the ants went to war against pill bugs and the main ants friend in the army gets killed, but he doesn't just die, he is shown burred up to the neck in the ground talking to the main ant. Then the sand around his head blows away and we see he has been decapitated and is still talking. That was too much for me as a wee lad. There is another scene where some ants get crushed by a foot and there guts squirt out. That movie was just a who lot of nope. I haven't seen it since, I never want to see it again.
I had basically the same experience with that movie. The fact that I remember that scene you're talking about really says something. And that's why I think Antz is the better cartoon. We need more kids scarred for life.

A Fish Tale, Braver and Frozen Land are actually not rip-offs, just completely unrelated animated productions unfortunately repackaged, perhaps for a dishonest buck. A Fish Tale was released three years before Finding Nemo and isn't even CGI (mostly anyway). Braver is a Christmas TV special from 2005 called Fairy Tale Christmas. And Frozen Land is the Canadian animated film The Legend of Sarlia. Supposedly, the original film makers weren't pleased with its "rebranding".
It's the same with that Kiara the Brave movie, when it was originally released, it was called "Super K" or something like that, they only rebranded it to that when Brave came out.
I've seen that movie five million times. Five million too many. I remember ones extremely fucked up scene where a bug named smiley is in a frog's belly and they pull him out only to find everything except his deceased head was dissolved by stomach acid.

In Antz they printed the faces of the voice actores on their characters Z-Woody Allen, Weaver-Stallone etc... ant made realistic looking ants with 6 legs instead of the cartoonish antropomorph ones of a Bugs life. I thought Jeffrey Katzenberg had left because he had a falling out with CEO Micheal Eisner, in response Katzenberg left and made Dreamworks as a rival to Pixar which was at the time under ownership of Disney. It's also supposedly where the character of Farquaad came from in Shrek as it resembles Eisner. Farquaad being the Short Tyrant of a squeaky clean facility of an empire where he takes magical creatures from their origination and locks them away. Apparently it mirrors- Eisner being the CEO of Disney, Disney owning the wildly successful Disneyland- and being well known for making films based off of fairy tales however often straying from the original plot. Farquaad is even supposed to be a clever play on "Fuck-wad". The whole movie was just one big middle finger to Disney...I may be wrong though

I'm late for posting this, but when I was around the age of 11 I thought of a animated series where the premises was a high school for upcoming video game characters. Characters would have different art styles similar to how games can be different from each other, but having a large majority of background characters be generic military soldiers, a clever way of reusing 2-3 models while being a jab at the abundance of generic FPS shooters. Surprisingly enough I never knew about Game Over until I watched this video, so it was surprising to find out that the premises was made before.

Ok. Ok, I just remembered something really interesting that's relative to this topic: Madagascar; a local celebrity animal gets sent to the jungle and must adapt to the unfamiliar environment. He later helps his friends fend off a predator species and enjoys fish. Open Season; a local celebrity animal gets sent to the woods and must adapt to the unfamiliar environment. Someone told me that Stiller was almost cast as Boog but was later turned down and as a response he made Madagascar and released it a year earlier. The funny thing about that is that Stiller didn't write that movie. But still, imagine Stiller being like "I'll make my own movie! With Blackjack! And Hookers! In fact, forget the movie!" Then again, Stiller does find himself in a lot of awkward situations in his movies.

The US Dennis is just kind of annoying in that SpongeBob and Squidward way. Dennis is actually just a "bad" kid like Bart Simpson. Antz was too scary for me as a kid. There was a scene where the ants went to war against pill bugs and the main ants friend in the army gets killed, but he doesn't just die, he is shown burred up to the neck in the ground talking to the main ant. Then the sand around his head blows away and we see he has been decapitated and is still talking. That was too much for me as a wee lad.
There is another scene where some ants get crushed by a foot and there guts squirt out. That movie was just a who lot of nope. I haven't seen it since, I never want to see it again.

A Fish Tale, Braver and Frozen Land are actually not rip-offs, just completely unrelated animated productions unfortunately repackaged, perhaps for a dishonest buck.
A Fish Tale was released three years before Finding Nemo and isn't even CGI (mostly anyway). Braver is a Christmas TV special from 2005 called Fairy Tale Christmas. And Frozen Land is the Canadian animated film The Legend of Sarlia. Supposedly, the original film makers weren't pleased with its "rebranding".

I recall seeing both in the theater as a child and my mom and I both made fun of how The Wild was such a blatant, rip off, cash grab attempt by Disney no less. In Antz they printed the faces of the voice actores on their characters Z-Woody Allen, Weaver-Stallone etc... ant made realistic looking ants with 6 legs instead of the cartoonish antropomorph ones of a Bugs life.

I thought Jeffrey Katzenberg had left because he had a falling out with CEO Micheal Eisner, in response Katzenberg left and made Dreamworks as a rival to Pixar which was at the time under ownership of Disney. It's also supposedly where the character of Farquaad came from in Shrek as it resembles Eisner. Farquaad being the Short Tyrant of a squeaky clean facility of an empire where he takes magical creatures from their origination and locks them away. Apparently it mirrors- Eisner being the CEO of Disney, Disney owning the wildly successful Disneyland- and being well known for making films based off of fairy tales however often straying from the original plot. Farquaad is even supposed to be a clever play on "Fuck-wad". The whole movie was just one big middle finger to Disney...I may be wrong though

I'm late for posting this, but when I was around the age of 11 I thought of a animated series where the premises was a high school for upcoming video game characters. Characters would have different art styles similar to how games can be different from each other, but having a large majority of background characters be generic military soldiers, a clever way of reusing 2-3 models while being a jab at the abundance of generic FPS shooters. Surprisingly enough I never knew about Game Over until I watched this video, so it was surprising to find out that the premises was made before.

Ok. Ok, I just remembered something really interesting that's relative to this topic: Madagascar; a local celebrity animal gets sent to the jungle and must adapt to the unfamiliar environment. Someone told me that Stiller was almost cast as Boog but was later turned down and as a response he made Madagascar and released it a year earlier. The funny thing about that is that Stiller didn't write that movie. But still, imagine Stiller being like "I'll make my own movie! With Blackjack! And Hookers! In fact, forget the movie!" Then again, Stiller does find himself in a lot of awkward situations in his movies.

Dennis was actually quite a controversial character for some time because parents feared his behaviour would be replicated by kids. The US Dennis is just kind of annoying in that SpongeBob and Squidward way. Dennis is actually just a "bad" kid like Bart Simpson. I used to love reading the Beano as a kid and honestly the US Dennis the Menace pales in comparison.
