    I LOVED the X's. The writing seemed so fresh when I was 11. I distinctly remember an episode where the punk daughter wanted to have her first sleep over and of course while the three girls she could convince to come are watching movies in her room, the house (which was a crazy dope tactical base) was put into flight mode and shot into space. All the tv's in the house turn into navigation screens automatically. Their cover is blown. Until one of the girls says "this sci-fi movie's so cheesy! You can practically see the strings!" All is well.

    I won the first Making Fiends contest online, back when I was 12 and it was just a Flash webtoon. I still have the original package I got in the mail from Amy Winfrey, with 4 signed art prints. I also have the 2 web series DVD’s. I remember first discovering her cartoons around the time Homestar Runner was popular in the early 2000’s. She had a series of shorts called Muffin Films, followed by Big Bunny.
    Then the first episode of Making Fiends came out. I remember waiting months for her to create new episodes. Hard to believe the online series lasted an entire 2 seasons. The art contest was a very proud moment in my childhood, I still look back on that fondly, as my life did not turn out well otherwise. Wonderful cartoons such as Making Fiends were the only things I can say I’m glad I can look back on.

    Yo! I interned for the company that made kappa Mikey and Threes Delivery.
    They were called Animation Collective. I was a Flash cutter and my job was to work on putting the storyboards together in flash for the key animators. I really wanted to work on Kappa Mikey. But they told me the show was cancelled. So they put me in the *sigh* Speed racer the next Generation department. It was not a good show. The only good thing out of that series was the voice actors who were super nice. This was during 2008 when we had that recession and the studio was under money issues. Let's just say heavy ones. There is an article about it on Cartoon Brew.
    But I did get to see the production of Threes Delivery and I was able to work on one episode of Thumb Wrestling Federation that was on Cartoon Network.
    The company no longer exists but for being an animation studio in NYC it was an experience.

    • @squirmlygoof

    • @YokoChanAdventures
      @YokoChanAdventures 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@squirmlygoof It was an experience that's all I have to say. It was a tough time when I worked there because it was around 2008. So that's when the recession hit and they were hiring interns to do the grunt work. I didn't like Speed Racer the Next Generation but I did learn a more lot about Flash and implementing it with Maya and After Effects. I honestly wanted to work on Kappa Mikey. I loved that show. But it ended right when I arrived. I worked on just Flash Cutting which was basically setting up keyframes and putting the story boards together for the actual animators. I also did this for some others shows like Three's Delivery and some others that never saw the light of day.Most of the inbetweens were done by FatKat studios and I had to run all over Manhatten to Send files to either the post office or to places that required sound to be edited. The studio was not managing things money wise well. If you go on Cartoon Brew and look up FatKat Studios it talks about animation collective and its ups and downs but I noticed they took down an article. AC was sold. But yeah....It was an experience.

      It's also interesting how you brought up the contest of kids submitting cartoon ideas. I remember seeing the commercials. There was a two page Nick Magazine ad that wanted kids to draw a character, write a short paragraph about the character, then tear the pages off and send it to Nickelodeon. I wanted to join the contest, but my mom wouldn't allow me to enter because she found my drawing and the handwriting of the characters' (I drew four characters on their provided panel) bio sloppy.

Chris Savino got his ass thrown out of Nick and blacklisted from the industry forever but LOL Viacom owns Loud House so now Chris gets to watch his creation get the Spongebob effect being left responsible in the hands of people he doesn't even know.

      Grossology, Growing Up Creepie, Kenny the Shark, Flight 29 Down, Trading Places, Time Warp Trio, and Tutenstein. Best line up for shows on Discovery Kids. Most of them were educational, entertaining, or both. Flight 29 Down and all but Trading Places were based on the Sciences. Grossology is Pathology, Growing up Creepie is Entemology, Kenny the Shark is Marine Biology, Flight 29 Down was Psychology to an extent, Time Warp Trio was Quantum Mechanics (Time Travel, duh) and History, and Tutenstein is Archaeology and History

    Making Fiends and Kappa Mikey was my shit back in the day. i adored those shows, especially Making Fiends. i don't know why, but even as a kid, i loved the macabre sense of humour and the dark style the show had. i guess that may have partially influenced my own art style today.
    also i saw Tak and 3 Delievery a couple times, and they were ok i guess.

    EDIT: What the fuck I didn't expect this many comments. I didn't add Chalk Zone, Mr Meaty, Mucha Lucha, and Static Shock because my original thought was that those shows were already remembered more than the ones on this list, minus Johnny Test, but I guess I was sadly wrong and just hang around people online who do remember them.

      i think local broadcasters had a much easier time syndicating nickelodeon shows here in ireland. i remember everything from this list but don't remember all of it being aired on nick

      I was more of a Nickelodeon guy too. I watched Cartoon Network everyday, but that was because I was a huge fan of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, The Powerpuff Girls, and Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi. Oh yeah, I also watched Camp Lazlo as well, even though I didn't obsess over it as much as the other 3 shows.
      Fun fact: During 2005, Foster's and Puffy AmiYumi were #1 and #2 respectively in the 6-11 demographic. I got that information from Benthelooney's (at the time PuffyZillaman4) second part of his salute on Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi.

      Strong agree, I would always watch the really odd shows on PBS on Saturday mornings, and even as a kid I could never really remember the names of the shows or anything, but it was all so strange and new each morning that I couldn't help but watch.

    A Disney cartoon I remember fondly is Kick Buttowski. Fun fact, the voice actor for Gunther also played a homosexual man in the hit drama NCIS in at least one episode.

    I see Kappa Mikey as instead of Fry getting frozen and going to the future, he goes to Japan and it’s full of anime characters.

    I think most Disney Channel cartoons before Phineas and Ferb are considered obscure at this point.
    Also Disney live action sitcoms that are actually good and/or funny are extinct

      I never look down on stuff I used to enjoy for that reason. I think it's more realistic that my sense of humor has changed from when I was a kid than Disney/Nick/CN deliberately airing shit shows. Who knows, maybe if I took half my age away I'd actually enjoy the new PowerPuff girls or new Spongebob episodes......Gah no those are just bad.

    • @roxlyn1665
      @roxlyn1665 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a lot of things I watched as a kid and don't like as an adult, and a lot of things I didn't appreciate as kid and liked as an adult. My taste's have completely changed. I used to hate anime, and now a love it. I enjoyed a lot of the flash animated shows in this list that I really dislike in retrospect. I hate to admit it, if Teen Titans Go aired when I was a kid, I'd probably enjoy it. I also enjoyed the sub-par later seasons of Spongbob. It didn't matter to me as a kid.

      Roxlyn166 I assume you mean Disney Channel, yeah, but The Proud Family, Kim Possible and Lilo and Stitch were popular, and American Dragon has a cult following.

    Mickey's House of Mouse is a really good show but whenever I would bring it up to a lot of people especially people that have grown up with the show seem to think that it's easily forgettable considering that it was a bunch of cartoons mashed up together but I thought the promise was really neat! The iconic Disney mascot owning a club, well actually it was a rented building by his enemy Pete but still I thought the promise was cool.

      The Halloween special _House of Villains_ is a pretty good holiday movie to watch (though its more of a collection of Disney Clips thrown together like much of the TV episodes). Me any my brother watched that repeatedly back in the day and its what first comes to mind when I remember the series. However the show itself, I didn't get the privilege of watching it too often :/
