Why is bringing critical manufacturing back to North America a bad idea?
Because they are paying their CHinese workers over there 2.50 an hour here they would have to pay between 10-15 dollars an hour this is why they moved to China in the first place because Chinese people are in such dire straits that 2.5o to 3 dollars an hour is big bucks to them. They are wage slaves. They also work 12 hours a day 7 days a week except sunday where they work 11 hours. They only get one 1 hour break a week.

Many places are choosing to be safe rather than sorry. Schools would be an ideal place for the virus to spread. I DO worry about pre-Schools and day care. Parents who work can't afford to take a lot of time off to keep their children at home and safe from those breeding grounds which little ones attended.

I watched contagion for the first time the night before the story broke about coronavirus. In the movie the first case is in Chicago and I was in Chicago that day.
It's a wonder the human species was able to survive all these other "outbreaks" throughout history.
Well....they kinda didn't.
Whenever a pandemic came to town before the 20th century it often wiped out a large chunk or even the majority of the population of a town. The Black Death actually solved Europe's population problem in the mid 1300s and caused entire towns and entire cities to be brought to their knees.
What saved humanity was the distance and lack of travel in the past.

People also need to remember the Spanish flu happened over a century ago. The medical advances in regards to medical equipment, medications and research is much different then what people had in 1918 which was basically nothing.
I may have already had it and was very sick for three weeks. I had every symptom and have never been that sick. I am 66 years old and luckily had two oxygen concentraters and had a nebulizer to do a breathing treatment every 4 hours. My son is a doctor and prescribed 2 different types of antibiotics and an anti-fungal when a throat culture showed a yeast infection after a week of fever and when I acquired pneumonia. I had to use both concentraters at 8 liters per minute. This was no ordinary flu, ct scan showed during third week I was recovering from pneumonia. Why do I not know if I had the corona virus? Because in Feb. my son couldn't find a test in NM.
Do you have any lingering issues? Difficulty breathing now? Just out of curiosity... I hope you are feeling better and stay well!

Having tons of sick people not working and not paying taxes doesn’t get political figures re-elected. Plus we have eradicated some nasty diseases through vaccination programs which is historical fact. From the info I'm hearing the appropriate thing to do if you think you may have covid19 is to call the hospital or your doctor, DO NOT just come to the ER and expose yourself or others to potential illness, and they will send an ambulance or arrange something to get you tested. That's what I've heard. Also if you believe you've been exposed to a person who the CDC test has confirmed positive results self quarantine yourself and monitor your symptoms for 2 weeks.

My biggest concern about this virus scare, is the potential for it to potentially be used to limit voter turnout in the upcoming election. In the event the virus starts limiting vacations, sporting events, schools and any place requiring people to congregate, pool turnout could be manipulated. That could hurt republicans, since dems will have a huge turnout %, unlike last election. Nothing will deter the dems this time.
When you touched upon the plight of caring for our elderly in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, I was wondering if you could address that further in another talk. There's so many possible reasons why it's so prolific, and I can tell you from experience that yes, it is a festering hole of germs. But it's not just the elderly that get the shaft, because the ownership of these places is so corrupt, so greedy, they pretty much ensure squalid living conditions forever more, while they slowly kill both their residents and staff. Go on any job review site, and you'll immediately spot the honest employee reviews versus the obligatory damage control fluff pieces written by management.
