I’m an American living and working in Vietnam. Schools have been closed since late January are were in talks to start in March until the Korea outbreak. So teachers like myself are waiting to hear back so we can go back to work. I am now teaching online. Everyone wears masks here and sanitizing stations are everywhere. Be safe out there!

Chinese society is all about face so an outbreak of the virus makes them look bad. Well, no one knows anything about how it is spread or how to cure it or how it broke out in the first place. Obviously we all can see the effect it is having on different countries, like rates of infection and mortality, but little is known of the disease itself.
And I know we conservatives are naturally skeptical of the establishment, especially the media, but what other source can we trust on diseases if not the CDC? Trump seems to have the interest of the American people at heart, but that doesn't make him an expert on diseases.

If, according to the CDC, "the trajectory is very uncertain", then they're also saying that it isn't "inevitable" as that implies certainty, something the CDC said they didn't currently have.

To be honest, with the incubation period you can deduce how many people are infected based on the amount of new confirmed cases. It takes up to 2 weeks for incubation period and then to start show symptoms. If there are cases of people getting sick where you didn't even know there were cases, well, then that logically must mean that it has been spreading for over a week or more in that area already. This shit will be tough. They are not certain how it will spread, but they say they are certain that it will spread sooner or later.

If this hits Cairo, Hong Kong, India, or a similar location really hard you can kiss any chances goodbye of containing this nightmare. Also the 2.3 % is MATHEMATICALLY impossible. They're purposely using the SARS math model when that is not applicable whatsoever in the Covid outbreak. In reality when you factor in weighted averages your looking at 4 to 15 % and that's with the presumably suppressed, but offical numbers. Los Alamos says 4.7/6.6 Ro. This fucjing thing is here to stay. It may or may not swamp America, but it will however be a months long issue, if not year/years issue.

The company probably couldn't keep up paying people like ben for aggressive marketing, because their sales weren't making the payoff worth it. They're cheap chinese made quartz watches sold for $200, how popular could they be? There are tons of cheaper watches available from timex, seiko, citizen, companies which actually have brand recognition and proven track records for quality. Plus there are small watch companies that offer a more unique or special product than mvmt, so they really are trying to jam themselves into a niche i don't think exists for plain boring overpriced watches bought just because they're a microbrand.

The given fatality rate is misleading, it should be calculated using only the dead and recovered cases, which is closer to 10%. Using the currently infected in that calculation isnt really valid, because they will all eventually either recover or die
True, but 10% might not be accurate either. The truth is probably somewhere in between (assuming we can actually trust the numbers we have). The novelty of the virus makes it hard to calculate because some of the infected got sick at the same time as some of the dead, an effect that shrinks with a wider data set.
I think shutting schools down would be the most beneficial and least harmful move we could make for the next two months. Pay the school staff, but have the kids stay home.
In a region where the surgical mask is a pretty common part of the wardrobe and yet they can't even keep that plague at bay. It seems like this one calls for drastic measures that make preppers look sane. At some point everyone will have to be like Monk.
