I disagree with you on this one, Ben. The president’s response was appropriate and clear. I, for one, felt better about the situation after hearing him speak; it made me feel that he and the fed are taking this seriously. Yes, there were some things that needed clarification, but questions were asked and answers were given. Like even if there were some things to complain about, calling it a **** show is pretty extreme. Chill out, man.

Dude, trump has been serious about it and always left open the possibility of escalation. Also Listening to Trumps speech he did NOT say that goods would be barred form shipment. It is what I got when he made the speech. So he did say Not only when he meant not, it was clear t ome from the context what he meant because he was listing exceptions. I think the solution is to publish the measures in text simultaneously to the announcement so people can read it and thus not be triggered by gaffs.

Live in Washington state. Schools are starting to shut down. People starting to panic. Never seen anything like this. If you have a cough or fever your asked to drop everything and quarantine for 14 days. And of course, no way to get tested or any treatment. Crazy this all started a few weeks ago.

My university cancelled all in-person classes for the foreseeable future and extended our spring break by a week. At least five other universities my friends go do are doing the same or taking even more drastic measures.... one is closed until late April...
Ben what you are missing is a few key factors I think. 1 those districts moving to online schooling have not prepped students for what that means and how it will happen which I think might result in a massive drop in GPA averages for all students. 2 the fact those districts moving to online might be inner city schools means that those students may or may not have a laptop to do the work on or they might not have internet at home which is where you would want them to be. 3 those inner city schools are more than likely 75-95% free or reduced lunch which means kids could go without food for 14+ days. While I agree that taking preventive steps to lower risk is a good thing school closure may not be the best way to go about this.
Um. Ben. He said in his speech that the UK was exempt and Americans abroad are also exempt as long as they go through the proper screening. And when he said he was going to cut off travel from Europe, who on earth would think he meant trade as well. I had to watch the speech again to make sure I wasn't crazy.
The over reaction to Trump's address is nuts. Sure, we all want all the details presented flawlessly all the time, but errors are made in fluid situations. Concerns were quickly assuaged, yet MSM go crazy, after initially calling his Chinese travel ban racist.

The whole summer thing makes sense, and I feel it why my country has a ridiculously low case of the virus. given that a lot of people travel into the country.
There are American's in Italy, who travelled on vacation, despite the travel warning, who are now stuck in Italy unable to leave, indefinitely due to travel ban on commercial flights into the United States. They have coordinated with the U.S. Embassy, who cannot evacuate them either through DS or Military transport in order to limit spread/contact with personnel. They are being subsidized by the State Department, who is paying for their hotels, to stay put and self quarantine until further notice.
I live in Texas, and fiesta was postponed until sometime in November. And so was jury duty.

I felt that when he was talking about people and not 'goods' for trade it was obvious, you don't typically use the verb 'travel' when discussing inanimate objects.

I’ve been reading that we can test with a PCR machine. An undergraduate student can run a PCR machine. The CDC posted the genetic code to detect the virus on a PCR machine. The only think you need for a PCR machine to work is the primer unique to the virus, which was posted by the CDC and can be manufactured by laboratory.
