My First Trip Using a Detach Lowboy - Plus - Bandsaw Mill Delivered

  • What a day! Dirt Perfect gives me a run down on how to use the new to him lowboy trailer. Then off into the world I go to haul his excavation equipment for the first time with this trailer. Today I haul the John Deere 120 and the Volvo 140 excavator. It was an absolute learning experience with a few fails but a few successes as well. THEN, we head up to the homestead where my friend Clint delivers his woodland mills portable bandsaw mill for us to borrow. A lot of learning in this video and a lot of firsts for the channel. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!

Don't forget to put stickers (spacer strips of wood) between your planks for air drying and remember green wood will shrink as it dries. Was just going to write "Comment" for the win, but realized nobody had mentioned stickers and shrinkage.

Great job, I see you found the trick to picking the trailer up and letting it down to even it up. another tip if you need it, put a block under the side with the biggest gap, it will help close it up, also you mite want to cut some metal blocks to fit under the top pins in case you ever need more ground clearance

OK,that is what we call them on this side of the pond...😉 nothing like on the job training to really get to know the little idiosyncrasies of the swan neck !!! And you didn't pull any fittings apart, now that my friend is a winner!!! Trailer appears to have more usable space too, tag axle will make a big difference to load distribution, keep Officer Hoover happy 😁
Fantastic you have the use of the sawmill through September, this will be another learning curve, I'm sure you will have hours of fun and torment in equal measures until you master it !!

Some tricks that helped me with the detachable goose, when you’re backing up to reattach line the fenders of truck to the outside of the last piece of wood on the deck. ( where it’s next to metal on the outside of the trailer if that makes sense) or find another reference that if you line it up it’ll get you straight. Also one thing I do just so I don’t forget, once I check the pin is locked and before I mess with anything else I hook the lines up and work my way forward. Just a routine I got into. Great video!!

I was the flag car for moving a JD combine from Vandalia, IL to the IL-Iowa border last year. It was the same style trailer but I didn't observe all the connections and adjustments. That combine was 15'8" wide and 15'8" high but not that heavy.
