The value in working for an excavation company, even at the part time level, pays for itself over and over again with the amount of projects we get into on the homestead. Today we are back at the side job, working for Dirt Perfect. Trucking some excavation equipment from the pond build up on the homestead and finishing up with a small gravel road repair job. My rental yard only charges for the days they are open. I rented a miniskidsteer for Labor Day weekend. Paid for Saturday. Used it Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to dig 9+ yards of garden soil out of a side yard and place 6 yards of road mix for a concrete pad. 6.9 hours of clock time. Getting road mix on a weekend was an interesting challenge.

One man, one piece of equipment that won't start and the fight to get to work. Join Mike and Chelsea as their ten year bond continues to grow stronger than ever and their excavating adventures in a small Indiana town entertain millions.
When a battery has been drawn down to the point that it won't turn the engine over even with a jump pack attached. Check to make sure the jump pack is charged, connect it to the dead battery and leave it. After 15 minutes, try to start it again. If no luck, leave another 15 minutes.
Those jump packs may have the ability to hold a large amount of amps but, the wires and clamps won't let enough amps to transfer to the starter. Connecting it and letting it sit allows the jump pack to recharge the vehicle battery.
Your working for DP works both ways you fill a lot of voids in his work schedule .I like the variety of work you do .Some would go in orbit with what you had to do just to start the dozer but you took it with stride and pushed forward with a great attitude

Give you a tip when loading the 955 take your bucket and put it flat on the trailer and let it slide up the dovetail when loading to take the weight off the front tires so you want be falling off the ramps

DP has alot of logs he just burns. You should collect these to build a log cabin rental. About 12" diameter, cut 2" on three sides only. 2 corners will be rounded, for the inside of the wall, the complete rounded side for the outside, If useing about 12" diameter logs, the weight wont be that bad. You should install one of those Amber flashing Beacon lights on top of the Dozer that stays on whenever the Masters is turned on.
That would just make it die quicker when it unavoidably gets left on anyway

Cap’n, that auger is gonna be awesome! Poking holes with it is so much better than a clamshell digger and a crowbar.
I have a 12” and an 8” bucket for my baby backhoe. It is great for posts larger than 6” in diameter. But for line posts, it is overkill. Land Pride came out with an auger for subcompact tractors. I’ve been eyeballing it for about a year. Every time I got to Craigslist or eBay I search to find a used one… no luck yet.
Now, I have to get my lazy self to work…

Rental Equipment: Working in a Rental Yard, i get asked all the time about the "What if I dont use the equipment very much.. do I get refunded any amount?" We bill by posession of equipment not neccessarily hours used. so 1 Day is considered 24 Hours, and in that 24 hour period if the machine has a hour meter you are permitted to use it for 8 hours without being charged for more time, which on a Bobcat usually runs about 60-80 each additional hour. It makes it nice when you can get equipment in such a deal as you have. Keep on trucking! -RB

That's got to be a record for number of times one person has driven equipment off trailer ramps. Lol. Probably best to move the ramps to proper width PRIOR to driving equipment onto trailer.

You should talk to doctor dirt perfect and have him put charging systems in that Covered garage for the trucks and tractors this built built one where hes able to hook up the batteries and trickle charged them it would probably make it nicer to know that the equipment would be charged and ready to go whenever you you were going to take it out just this suggestion jame suggestion James T over North Carolina
I have a small solar panel, rigged to a battery maintainer that works great for tractors I store over winter in a shed with no power. It's way handier than running a drop chord 100 feet or trying to jump start a weak battery.
or at least keep the jump pack charged up.

Ohh. I know that feeling. I had to take a Toro triple deck commercial mower in for a service and the small trailer wasn’t available so I had to use the 10 ton trailer like Plan B. The mowers tires barely reached the ramps.
It was definitely high in the pucker factor loading and unloading it.
