  • PA Danielle Matias, discusses chronic shoulder impingement syndrome and how underlying shoulder instability is often missed as the cause. In these cases, especially those that have not been fully resolved by PT, chiropractic, surgery, steroids or other injections, we have seen Prolotherapy be an effective treatment to help get the patient back to full function.

@Caring Medical & Hauser Neck Center please make a video on vagus nerve simulation and neck weights+ cervical collars
Lastly do u guys think fibromyalgia caused by neck instability this is what a recent paper suggested it stated 88% folks have loss of curve

      Do you have fibromyalgia

Great questions, Zaky Vids, thank you. The neck weights are prescription items and definitely not for everyone, nor the collars, so we make those recommendations to patients directly during their curve correction evaluation. Some people do find vagus nerve stimulators helpful to some degree as part of a larger program, but they cannot take the place of making the structural corrections to the curve and improving posture/workstation, etc.. There are many patients who have neck instability and were diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Unfortunately, many of those people were given that diagnosis- just meaning that they have pain in many areas in their body- but were not given much hope or any real treatment options. When there is underlying joint instability in all of the painful joints, those areas often respond to Prolotherapy, which is why we wrote a book on it many years ago called "Prolo Your Fibromyalgia Pain Away." Also, yes, if there are many systems that are being affected, and the person has signs of neck instability, this would point us toward looking more into if neck instability is responsible for the majority of symptoms due to interfering with blood flow to/from the brain, and vagus nerve impairment. Wishing you all the best in healing!

I am from the uk but the information you give is truly amazing. I am having prolotherapy treatment for bicep tendonitis that has caused nerve impingement aswell. My osteopath was treating me for costocondritis aswell which made my shoulder and surrounding musclas tighten up as he was manipulating my rib area. We both agreed to stick just the needlework next time as my upperbody was given to much to do. Plus it aggravated the nerve irritation. But your explanation of the shoulder joint highlights the need for good strong stable muscles in the shoulder area.

@@CaringmedicalProlotherapyprolotherapy partially worked after three treatments but not completely. It is not comprehensive like yours is. You are very thorough with the treatment and widespread with it too.

So to understand this prolotherapy treatment. These prolotherapy injections are directly injected into the ligaments under ultra sound guidance? Is there any potential side effects with these injections going into the ligaments? Thank you.

I was diagnosed w/ DISH in summer of 2022. I also have a pinched nerve from 10/21. & many more diagnoses. By 5:00 p.m. EVERY DAY, I'm ready to go to THE ER and get an injection to just KNOCK ME OUT OF MY MISERY - AGONIZING, EXCRUCIATING, UNBEARABLE, DEBILITATING PAIN in neck, traps, shoulders & back.

The last thing you said, Danielle, about hanging to get the shoulder back, instead of so forward... wouldn't that only be after treatment? My shoulders are very rounded and unstable from CCI and I sometimes get a feeling like something in my shoulder temporarily 'catches' if my posture is really bad. I have to rotate it a certain way and adjust my posture, to get it back to feeling right. If I did some hanging right now, I wouldn't be surprised if I sublexed my shoulder.

Hi Angela, Good question. Yes, we recommend it for some patients, but only once the joint was strong/stable enough to take that kind of force correctly. Wishing you and the family all the best!
