Alan, I was passing through Illinois yesterday and visited my favorite whisky shop. I was surprised to find one bottle of Laphroaig Lore on the shelf. I have never encountered a bottle of Lore. I thought I was looking at a unicorn. I immediately put it in the basket (next to two other gems) and can't wait to crack it open! Thank you for this review.

Hey Alan, great review as always. I had a chance to try a sample of the Lore in a private advent calendar put together by friends last Christmas, it was fantastic. I love most things Laphroaig, cheers my good man 🥃👍

Got a bottle of this beauty on my shelf :) Delicious stuff. Changes every time I sample it. I was pretty sure I'd like it, but being a bit pricey I wanted to try before I bought it, and did get the chance a few months back. Quickly picked up a bottle here before they started disappearing. Making every drop count and last now! Cheers, Alan.

Just picked up a bottle of this on sale for £50. Very much looking forward to trying it and comparing it against the regular Laphroaig Quarter Cask which is one of my all-time favorites. If it has the same intensity of flavour, plus added sherry influence akin to the Uigeadail, I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Hats off for another great review.

Great review mate, and was interesting to see you give it an official review and compare it to what I've been getting. Each time I come back to it a get a different balance of the sweet, savoury and peat. With a good hit of what Captain3D would call 'the burnt hospital'. Thanks so much for your own samples you sent me!

I had a bottle of this when it first came out because I was nervous that Laphroaig might mess about with the blend at a later date. It's okay but I think it's too expensive for what it delivers. I don't think this should cost more than £50. I'm in no rush to buy another bottle. Each to their own. Cheers.

Interesting video Whisky Friend. I’ve always found the Lore disappointing. A little too concocted imho. I feel it loses its vibrancy, something which I feel is important for a Laphroaig to have. The finish is way too blunt for a £60-£80 whisky.
I was lucky enough to have a bottle open along side a bottle of Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength batch 010. The 10 CS blew the Lore away in terms of complexity & sheer amount of flavour. I appreciate the 10 CS is hard to find here in the UK, but it’s light years ahead of the Lore and cheaper if you can find at retail (directly from Laphroaig) batch 011 is coming in the next couple of weeks apparently. I also recommend the triple wood ahead of the Lore. That’s readily available
