So glad your still enjoying your vaIentines present! I really love that whisky droplet t-shirt you created! Cant wait to get my maternity whisky geek one!
I was able to get one of these recently as part of a UK online order for $85 US total. Very interesting and am glad I got one but for the $130 that it is around here I would not have gotten one. Cheers Ben
Glad to see you reviewing this one, Ben! :) I've had the same experience with my bottle so far... each time I've approached it, it's been a bit different. I still love it, but the last time was a bit thin, whereas previously it had been rich and full. So looking forward to get to that point of delicious consistency. Might pour myself a birthday dram of it today! ;) Happy birthday to me! Cheers!
Happy Birthday James! 🎉🎂🥃 Hope it's a good one. Not had it come across as thin, hopefully skipped that bit! Was it from a clean palate or had you sipped something else before? I could see it getting overpowered a little too easily. Seems like a good choice for a birthday dram 😁🥃🥃👍
@@WhiskyGeek Thanks Ben :) Yeah, it must have been something I'd eaten or drank prior... I only get that slight thinness with sherried stuff. Not super thin, just noticeably so from the previous. Currently enjoying my bottle of Arran 14 a bit too liberally - my birthday present to myself :P
I just picked up a bottle of this. I love regular laphroaig but because it was over $100, im gonna keep it for something very special so i have no idea when ill ever crack it open. Thank you for giving me an idea of what to expect. Cheers.
Very good review of a nice but often misunderstood expression...(& one of the rare recent OB Laphie's I'd like to get a bottle of I have to say). Thanks also for the most precise infos on this expression's content (casks types/age) to date ! Well done, Ben...👍
At 110 dollars, I wasn't willing to take a risk on a NAS whisky but it just went on sale - 20 dollars off. I like it. At this price I'll probably get a couple more.
Haha, Frazzles @ a barbecue/bon-fire 👍 I had someone telling me about a whisky they thought tasted like pickled onion monster munch not so long ago! Funny how the brain makes these associations.
You've got your work cut out for you already without buying second bottles haha! Yeah luckily Costco near us seems to have it at a pretty decent price consistently 👍
Yeah I tend to find the finish is the least exciting part of most whiskies, luckily I didn't find this one too short or lacking - maybe I got a decent bottle/batch?! It did almost rush into the finish for me though, cutting the palate short a bit, but that dry wood and warming pepper/capsicum brought something nice to the peaty core. I'm looking forward to cracking that one open too! There's a bunch of the other Laphroaig expressions I'm interested to try, a Cairdeas Fino sounds great! Cheers Mendip Fox 🥃👍
I’ve got 10 different expressions of Laphroaig and my favorite is whichever I’m sipping on at the time!
I really appreciated the clear explanation of how this came together and what each component might be adding to the dram. Thanks for sharing, cheers!
Cheers Jon, love finding & sharing geeky info like that when I can! 🥃👍

Haha, gonna have a whisky geek branded bump for the last few weeks 😜👍

@@agrainofmalt Haha, 3 days ago and already half a bottle down! It must be good stuff 😂
@@WhiskyGeek to be fair, I did share it a little ;)
Found you when Roy @ Aquavitae mentioned you during a live pub. Really enjoying your channel!
Cheers A R! 🥃👍
And to you as well, thanks Ben!
55 pounds is an *awesome* price for Lore! Over here, it was around $200 CAD out the door...
Oof that is a bit painful. Seems our Costco purchasers in the UK like peated Scotch 😜
@@WhiskyGeek We're just taxed to death... I enjoyed two bottles of the Lore!
I wonder if the ages of these casks still stand today, or whether it's made up of younger whiskys

Hell, I bought a case, I love this shit!

Thanks Greg - I like it when I can dig out some geeky info! It's definitely worth a try if you get chance 👍
They must save the tropical fruit for the Lore, because it ain't in the 10 and Quarter Cask
Actually I'm getting charred pineapple in my Quartet Cask now, in addition to the usual figs. Very nice

Glad you're enjoying it! It's a good example of a NAS done for the right reasons in my opinion 👍 decent price too 😁
Frazzles - perfect, right there with you

I am still missing my last sip of Lore, but have not bought a replacement. The price seems to be creeping up each time I look.

Frazzlers? I think you mean Frazzles. Not tried this laphroaig.
Yeah they're the ones - not had them in a long time!
@@WhiskyGeek Gave me flashbacks
I'm guessing it was just a slip of the tongue?
@@TobyField No I probably never knew their proper name! Like I said it has been a while since I last had them haha.
