    -----Here I review my first-in trauma bag. Its the Kemp professional trauma bag and is designed sorta for an ALS bag. Its been the bag I use as my trauma/edc/BLS ems bag in my car. Has all the BLS equipment needed for a general medical call. Though its set up as a trauma bag, it has resuscitation supplies, and other basics. From this kit I got hemorrhage supplies, isolation gear, external irrigation/flushing for wounds, bandaging and wound care, immobilization supplies, and assessment supplies. This bag has been through a lot of rough use, probably more than any other bag ive owned. its held up through it and fits my needs with organizing my bls responder stuff. Id recommend this bag to anyone in the prepping world to keep medical supplies and of course EMS/FIRE and even police.

    I'd replace your biohazard container with biohazard bags. Or just bags. They hold more than the box. That way you create more storage in that area. Your bag is awesome. You put a lot of work into the organization. Thanks for posting this video.

      @@DmacReviews the problem with that is that unless you're cleaning up after an ALS call such as a cardiac arrest there's no point in having those bags. Because you're not going to want to carry around a bag half full of old band aid wrappers. I'd recommend something like an empty Clorox wipe container.

    Thank you! The volume greatly varies since with the training I received i did not need to have FD affiliation (Was just below EMT). I am working on pursuing EMT and all that stuff to get more runs/training, but as EMR I came on from 1-sometimes 5,6 incidents a week. Not a lot, but then again I also assisted at retreats and at church and brought a lot more volume.

      Ok first of all he's an EMT not a paramedic. So for the most part he has everything the adverage *EMT* carries. In my state EMTs are not allowed to start IVs it's ALS paramedics that you will see more advanced stuff in. You won't find prescription medications, needle decompression kits, intubation kits, or things for IVs in this man's bag. EMT's at least at the basic level carry more trauma, assessment, and BLS supplies.

  • @DmacReviews
    @DmacReviews  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you so much!! Yes, that is something I am working to add in currently. I was thinking CAT, which is the ultimate solution, but and not sure with the price and space it may take up. Currently my plan has been to use the Latex-type IV Tourniquets and if needed use a pen to tighten it in the same manor you would see with the kravat/stick method. If it wouldnt work off of that I would resort to a BP cuff most likely as a last ditch. Of course any use of tourniquet is strictly last resort, but in the case I couldnt stop it with any other method with the tools in this current bag, Id probably turn there for now until I got some CATs

    • @Wavetrains
      @Wavetrains 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Dmac The bands used for IVs won't stop bleeding. They'll make it worse, actually. They're not actually tourniquets; tourniquets stop arterial flow. IV bands compress veins, so venous bleeding would be worsened and it won't even begin to touch an arterial bleed. Using a windlass with one won't work, either. Using a cravat and improvised windlass is your best option in the absence of a tourniquet. CATs are only $20-30 and work very well, but sometimes you need two just to control hemorrhage. Don't be too hesitant to use one, either. If the hemorrhage quickly soaks through the dressing with direct pressure, go straight to a tourniquet. If it's obviously an arterial, go straight to a tourniquet. Don't waste time trying to stop a femoral artery from hemorrhaging with gauze and pressure dressings. It only takes a few minutes to bleed out from a major artery. Tourniquets can be left on for extended periods of time without causing damage to the distal limb.

    As far as carrying it id say that depends on your own feelings on it. Im not expert on all the regulations (i just try to stick with the gear review side of things), but you want to make sure your area allows that skill to be used on public/strangers and all. Asking your instructors for EMT would be where Id start. If you keep it in the kit for family only or for yourself, I know of nothing saying you cant do that. Its like my Epi Pens I keep in my Jump bag. I am trained on Epi use through my EMS training, but comes with various limitations. The pens I keep in my Bag here are only for me and I would never use them on anyone else. I have a bit of supplies I keep handy for emergencies, but with many things you gotta use them wisely. There are many other items I keep at home as a prepper of sorts that I wouldn't go trying to use in a good Samaritan capacity. Talk to your peeps where you're at and find out what they say. I know up where we are, EMT's are now allowed to do blood sugar tests, but it varies based on location.

    • @cheeseball4791
      @cheeseball4791 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      edgar tovar I've heard that tourniquets are not really the best anymore. It damages soft tissue so it's better just to put pressure on the wound/cut.

    • @nerdsquaredfilms
      @nerdsquaredfilms 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      cheeseball 47 you heard wrong. Tourniquets are used more frequently now than ever before to stop bleeding. If pressure doesn’t work and bleeding continues, there won’t be any soft tissue left at all if your patient goes into hypovolemic shock and dies.

      @@TMAK131 If the patient is diabetic they will know how to use it and there is nothing wrong with offering it to them to test themselves. Totally legal. They will actually be able to tell you usally with out even testing that they are going into low blood sugar (Hypoglycemia) unless it is their first time in that situation. Glucose tabs are a good idea. I have even used a honey packet from KFC once. Some gear people carry is just in case a trained individual arrives on scene ( off duty nurse/doctor/etc) without their gear, and you will be able to let them use it. In most states you are good as a Samaritan as long as you stay in your scope of knowledge and training. Some states actually have good Samaritan laws now to protect you.

      I haven't started yet but I will soon. Hopefully next week I'll start. My local area has a Volunteer Fire and EMS department because we are very rural so I want to learn things like gun shot and knife wounds along with the other things needed. To be totally honest short of a few special things like those bandages I've been able to find it at Walmart or other stores in town. In recent years through volunteering with youth I've made friends with a local fire chief from a few parishes over (I'm from Louisiana) and he's the chief of training so I'll hopefully be able to get some good training with his people too and get good pro tips. I'll stay in touch and will of course subscribe.

    what did bag and all/most of your supplies cost you?

    • @DmacReviews
      @DmacReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I imagine it cost around $300 for the entire thing. The bag is about $80 and then supplies id guess add up to 210-220. Of course with sales and deals you can probably find cheaper supplies.

    As ICU nurse all I have in my medical bag is:
    - many gloves
    - protection goggles
    - saline fluids 1500 ml just for burns
    - A lot of gauze for compressive medication
    - three tourniquet
    - ambu bag for ventilation
    - Small O2 tank
    - O2 masks
    - guedel cannulae
    - trauma scissors
    - Stetoscope
    - 14 gauge needle for pnx decompression
    Nothing else. This is what i need to take time while waiting ambulance in real emergencies. All the rest, for me, is useless.

      I agree much only for aftercare. However a defibrillator could be biggest lifesaver and chest seals, pressure dressing also beneficial for field trauma.

    Can like a person like me carry this I'm in search and rescue with the civil air patrol and I'm a ground team 3 member and I see stuff like this on amazon with all this and I'm also a safety officer at rocket club am I aloud to buy and use something like this if I'm certified but not a active paramedic

    • @DmacReviews
      @DmacReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Dani thanks for the comment! So the contents in this bag actually arent Paramedic supplies (thats a higher level license and involves higher level supplies). These supplies are basic EMT/EMR supplies. Have you had first aid/cpr training? My advice (take it for what its worth-only my personal thoughts) is if you haven't seen it/been trained on it, I wouldn't carry it. So things like bandages, gauze, wraps, splints, ice packs, etc are more under general first aid items. The stuff like Oral airways, Bag valve mask, meds, etc are where you wanna be trained before you use it. Can you CARRY whats in this bag- course....however, what you USE can do more harm than good if you dont have the training. My main rule of thumb when stocking bags is to only carry what I have been trained to use.
      For your situation, you could get one of these bags and stock it with what you are trained with and any extra space you have can be used for safety gear/SAR gear related to CAP. Just a thought:) Another option since you're more on the tactical side; you could pick up a tactical bag and do the same deal. Let me know if that interests you and I can send my recommendations for tactical bags.

      Dmac Reviews yes I am fully certified for the airways besides intubation and I'm CPR wounds sucking chest wounds etc so I would be aloud to everything except major airways and needles but I can do normal saline IV thank you

      @DmacReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like I said earlier, my general rule of thumb is keeping stuff im trained to do in the pack. I think you are fine. Yeah all thats on here are OPA's, BVM and then the wound flush stuff.

      +hollywood4561000 Hey! Well I am no medic (yet) but volunteering at your local fire dept can be a very good way to start (and can get free training some/most places!). You can also look into college majors/classes for attaining your certifications. Youll most likely have to pay for those classes though. I would start by getting in touch with your local departments and find out what training is specifically required for your EMS system. If you havent had much exposure to EMS/Medical stuff, taking an EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) certification course is a great way to get basic skills and knowledge which you can build on as you work toward your medic. Hope this heps!

    • @DmacReviews
      @DmacReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joseph B. Mmm gosh..I think a safe estimate would be about $300 at least. Since I built my own and bought (or was given) the stuff in here piece by piece I dont know how much it all ends up being. I will say though, going this route really saved me big time since lot of higher end bags go for 300 just for the bag itself. I was able to get by with fraction of that for this bag (and yet not any less quality in my mind with how they made it) and probably around 210-220 for the supplies in it

    +a2m4m60 It is actually believe it or not an E-cigarette case I bought from China a while back. They are quite durable and I bought a few because I saw great potential as them being used for holding medical supplies especially any meds. Keeps things protected.

    Why don't you have a c collar

    • @DmacReviews
      @DmacReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +PennyNickel101 Never claimed to be an EMT. I am Certified as an EMR. (Similar to EMT, just less class time and we can't initiate Oxygen without EMT. I was trained in the use of C-collar for that as well as full backboarding immobilization. I don't carry a collar simply because of space and never really having a need thus far. Making vids mainly to give ideas of bag organization/contents for those seeking to make first response kits. Many people will have differing ideas; this is just what I personally carry.

    • @DmacReviews
      @DmacReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +PennyNickel101 No hard feelings here man!! I see it too where I'm at. There's a LOT I do not know and I have to watch myself in staying humble and such. My heart is to step out though and do what I CAN do. EMR (Emergency Medical Responder. Was also referred to as first responder but I hear its gone through evolutions to add more training to it than 1st responder) its a basic rung of the EMS system, but I can still manage bleeding, immobilize, assist certain meds, manage an airway, etc. Deff not a medic or doctor but I dont think EMR is without its impact. The training has proved very useful in numerous situations I come across. Just like CPR isnt without its impact. I just wanna give what I got and try and do things to the best of my ability. Taking EMT this summer which will add more training onto that of course.

    • @DmacReviews
      @DmacReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I probably would guess it was about a $300 deal. That may sound high, but this type of bag of course isn't your average first aid bag. Many high-end ems bags would cost around that JUST for the bag... not including the supplies. For me, the Kemp bag has been the best bag option for my Ems kit stuff as I really havent found a better deal out there. Hope this helps

      How often do you have to use your bag

    • @DmacReviews
      @DmacReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lately, not much. It comes in spurts. Between school and other commutes, I would come across a pretty regular share of things. I do use it for at-home stuff on a somewhat regular basis, too. Just depends on whats happening. Usually only grabbing a few items vs the whole bag.

      I'm wanting to become a paramedic but right now I'm an emt and I really need to get a bag because my sister today started going in and out of Conscience and kept having a bloody nose and kept feeling hard to breath what do you think it is and can I get your phone number so I can ask you a few questions about the bag please and think you

    • @DmacReviews
      @DmacReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh nice! You will be able to do a lot as a medic. Good goal.
      I would not be the person to ask for medical advice/etc (Just an EMT myself and theres so many factors/limitations not being on that call). Best to ask Doc or call ur emergency number! Good luck.
      I just focus on gear reviews and organizing stuff here. I deff recommend having a kit of some sort.
      I dont give out contact info over Ytube, but feel free to ask my any gear qs on here! Ill try to answer them.

    here's several ideas for surviving any situation
    1. Have food stock:
    2. Find a shelter:
    3. Know the dangers:

    Mate ... Nice kit, but I have been an Intensive Care paramedic now for 25 years and I can tell you for a fact, that for WHATEVER use, you have way to much shit in that bag and you have doubled up so many times its ridiculous. Listen ... think about all the jobs you have been to in the last 12 months and remember what you actually used. You could throw away literally half of the gear you have in that bag and still have more than you need. It would make it easier to carry and easier to check for out of date equipment not to mention ease of finding stuff in a hurry. I know where you are coming from as my first bags looked just like that.... but I have cut down and cut down and cut down again and You will feel more confident when you do knowing where everything is.
